Where she continued to keep Russ around because of his carelessness, Sandra was even risking her own game by telling them they should waeken his by trying to get at her if they couldn't get at him. If Rupert, Colby and Amanda were as smart as they thought they were, they could've went after Sandra or Jerry, after Danielle's departure. Then they could've split the vote between Parv and Russ, ensuring one of them would've made it to the end.

Russell was a terrible player. The only way he can get to the end is by lying to everyone repeatedly. No other winners have lied that much, but still could get to the end. No-one can respect his gameplay because no-one else has the option to play that way, so he will not got many votes at all. Russell is not a good player.

More than a year later and we're still getting this. Get over it, folks, your golden boy is ancient history in the Survivor books. He couldn't control the fact that his reputation would haunt him on Redemption Island. However, as we saw from Rob, he could have done lots to offset the possibility. Based on everything I've learned, he didn't even bother trying, and that probably made all the difference in how the season turned out. Game over, he's old news, deal with it.
ok here's my view on this whole russell thing. i believe he should have won samoa becuz nobody else did anything, and he turned the entire season around so that it was only his people that made it to the end. H/V, he got what he deserved because he let beating rob get to his head and became way too aggressive for his own good. that said, parv should have won H/V because she played the best and most well-rounded game. she was more a victim of a bitter jury than he, because she deserved it.

Russel was one of the best players of all time. Yes, he may have backstabbed and hurt others but it's a game! It's reality tv and unfortunately Russel lost due to a "bitter jury". Natalie is making it sound like she was purposely "playing the social game." She was just unable to play any other type of strategy. Also, I think it was sometime around final 6 or something, Russell told her that she was next to go, and she didn't even try to convince him otherwise. She just stood there helpless. Fortunately for her that wasn't the case and she won, but I think that should have been addressed. It would have been interesting to see john last longer, he was good.

The jury does't have to vote for the greatest strategists. In fact they can vote under whatever criterion they wanted even if that's based on irrational things like being better looking or whatever. Russell could have won had he decided to take Shambo and Jaison to the final instead of Mick and Natalie. Also, I'm sure he was unnecessarily mean to people more than the cameras showed. I loved watching him, but you can tell he's not a nice guy. He really should have been able to win anyhow if he had just been more friendly to people. If Rupert, Colby and Amanda were as smart as they thought they were, they could've went after Sandra or Jerry, after Danielle's departure. Then they could've split the vote between Parv and Russ, ensuring one of them would've made it to the end.

I'm completely baffled that someone who very clearly lost a game entirely by his own fault can be considered a superior player than someone who won by a large margin. If you run faster than the other person in a race, YOU DESERVE TO WIN BECAUSE YOU BEAT THE OTHERS. People confuse aggression for strategy. Russell had the loudest game, but he dropped the ball and brought two very, very well-liked people to the jury and then stuffed it into their face. That's not good gameplay!

Survivor is a game with set rules and mechanics. You put a group of people in one setting and let them do whatever means to survive 'til the end and be chosen by a "jury" as the sole survivor. As simple as that. There's no rule that states that a winner must be deserving. You just have to reach the finale and be chosen by the majority of the jury - that shall make you the winner. If I am on the jury, I would not pick the chicken. Would you pick the chicken? But if, someone on the jury, chose to have the chicken as his/her Survivor, then the chicken would get a vote. And if the chicken continue to get votes and in the end got the majority votes, then the chiken would win the game. Did it imply that the chicken was deserving to win? No. But the chicken being the winner (for getting the highest number of votes) is legal. And no one can claim otherwise. Get it, stupid?

More than a year later and we're still getting this. Get over it, folks, your golden boy is ancient history in the Survivor books. He couldn't control the fact that his reputation would haunt him on Redemption Island. However, as we saw from Rob, he could have done lots to offset the possibility. Based on everything I've learned, he didn't even bother trying, and that probably made all the difference in how the season turned out. Game over, he's old news, deal with it.

ok here's my view on this whole russell thing. i believe he should have won samoa becuz nobody else did anything, and he turned the entire season around so that it was only his people that made it to the end. H/V, he got what he deserved because he let beating rob get to his head and became way too aggressive for his own good. that said, parv should have won H/V because she played the best and most well-rounded game. she was more a victim of a bitter jury than he, because she deserved it.

There's such as thing as TAILORING YOUR PERFORMANCE TO THE FINAL VOTE. Chris Daugherty and Todd Herzog did it, to name a few. Same with Natalie and Sandra.
Sandra tricked Russell twice: one in targeting Coach and the other in taking her to the end. She also tried to help the Heroes, which they, the jury, appreciated. Simple as that.

Coach had no alliance after not siding with either Rob or Russell in Rob's ouster, thus making him a perfect distraction from taking Sandra or Courtney out.

If u truly were a survivor fan, u'd appreciate the feat of someone getting to the final twice. how many people can even say they've made it once? not many. unlike u, i can respect his game along with other players games instead of being a biased one demisional viewer like u. i'm a true fan

Russel was one of the best players of all time. Yes, he may have backstabbed and hurt others but it's a game! It's reality tv and unfortunately Russel lost due to a "bitter jury". Did these idiots on the jury not appreciate the fact that without Russel none of this excitement would have happened. Without Russel finding the idol they would not have been able to vote out Kelly, then they would be down one. And without Russel, Shambo wouldn't have flipped. Uggh think, dumbies. Russel was amazing!

@ThePinkxxguava That "It's a game" argument won't always fly with people, especially if you treat them like crap after beating them. The only idiot I see here is the one who got an average of one vote per Final Tribal and was second voted off in his third time playing.
At the end of the day, you better give a damn about how you're seen by the jury because they're deciding your fate. Just because the producers give you an amazing edit doesn't mean your castmates would see you in the same way.

He really is a bitter asshole here. But it doesn't change the fact that the dude played one of the best games in survivor. And he said something I've been always saying...if only the likes of Nathalie, Cirie & co or whoever puritan's America new favorite player is would play, than this show would be literary unwatchable, for being plain boring. Russel, Jonathan, Fairplay, Hatch...these are the people that made this fuckin show "survive" throughout 22 seasons....

Natalie is making it sound like she was purposely "playing the social game." She was just unable to play any other type of strategy. Also, I think it was sometime around final 6 or something, Russell told her that she was next to go, and she didn't even try to convince him otherwise. She just stood there helpless. Fortunately for her that wasn't the case and she won, but I think that should have been addressed. It would have been interesting to see john last longer, he was good.

i read and understand the mixed emotions, but I do think russell deserves more credit than the jury gave him, his strategic game was just perfect, he manipulated. he lied. and he did what not a lot of people could do, he made enemies and hurt peoples feelings during the game. Personally, if i were on the jury and he vote dme off like he did danielle in season 20, then i firmly believe that i would have voted for russell due to the factt hat he saw me and parvati as a threat to take him out.

It´s funny see this Foa Foa tribemates as the final three, because they think are the best but arrived to the top by conspiracy. Mick, the worst leader ever seen before, it cause he didn´t anything for solve internal problems and win. Natalie, the classic jerk blonde girl who was smater than Russell because she knew he lost at the final three and just followed him. Jaison, the black guy contestant as bad as Sean Rector (Survivor Marquesas) because he has serious problems with him origins.

i never did get why she won. if people were pissed at russell then they shoulda voted for both her AND mick, not just her. and russell didn't really act all that unethically. his comments to the camera were never known and he only turned his back on john, who did in fact vote for him.

Russell is by far the best player ever on the show. 2nd place isnt even close and that would be Hatch or Parvati

And no, he is far from the best player. Hatch, Heidik, Chris Daugherty, Yul, Todd and Parvati could easily turn him into mulch.

The jury does't have to vote for the greatest strategists. In fact they can vote under whatever criterion they wanted even if that's based on irrational things like being better looking or whatever. Russell played a bad game overall because even if he made it to the end people would not vote for him over anyone else even people like Ben. People want the million dollars and no longer have to vote strategically. Of course their gonna vote emotionally esp. if you're an arrogant prick.

yea russel made big moves but natalie's one BIG move was bigger than anything russel did. if you treat that jury with respect then you certainly have their votes. survivor isn't about how you play its about you treat people

@xolilbraxo1993 Well, it can be about how you play the game 2. What makes Survivor always exciting is the diverse personalities every season. And since different people have different opinions and different ways of voting, the factors towards winning will also always be different. In Samoa, it was the case that the Jury that season was in favour of Natalie over Russell at least at that time.
But to be honest, Russell won't ever win with such arrogance, and his arrogance really crosses the line.

Natalie Outwitted Russell, because he thought he could beat her, and he couldn't. Natalie said numerous times she knew Russell couldn't beat her.
Natalie obviously outlasted Russell seeing as she beat him.
Neither Russell or Natalie outplayed anyone, seeing as their tribe was horrible in the challenges, and neither one of them did well in the individual challenges.
Natalie played a MUCH better game then Russell.
