What truly p*sses me off about their story is that at Nikea all librarians psychics etc were brought to heel and banned from the legions ranks by THE MOST POWERFUL PSYCHER the imperium has ever seen.
Talk about a slap in the friggin' face. If I were Magnus there is no way in hell that I would be able to stay my hand when the wolves of fenris attacked
Thousands sons looks more like a really organized force, keeping space marine tactics and such, just look at the blood frenzied chaos space marines and the rubric marines
The Rubric marines got tactics from the space marine codex and still remembers it all in their hate for the emperor, however the Space Wolves is an more barbaric chapter that don't really stick to the codex. If any other space marine chapter faced Horus when they were becomming Thousand sons for Tzeentch Horus would have won the battle. Yet with the support by Tzeentch and his favors the Thousand sons can become the greatest threat to the universe.
Indeed, Tzeentch is the only chaos god that got more goals and a better purpose than the rest, he wants to change the fate and the ways into his own image and everything his Thousand sons do are for the right reasons aswell as space marines. The only difference is that Tzeentch makes the thousand sons do it in as way that involves chaos and destruction.
Weird to think about but the worst legion is also the one that does the wrong/right things for right reasons xD
If there will be future Warhammer 40k games,movies and such they should bring The thousand sons and other space marine chapters like the dark angels or space wolves not just blood ravens, black legion, ultramarines and those :/
I think they should bring Imperial Guard in to atleast bring in some action for them, they don't get half of the cred and honor they deserve. They just run around and shoot like some retards and dies. Imperial Guard deserve to be more in the spotlight, aswell as Death Korps soldiers from Imperial Guard. And they should bring Necrons back and Tau. But mostly Necrons before Tau, Necrons is so awesome. Could be a perfect threat for Dawn of War 3 or new expansion pack for DoW2.
Necrons should be back , Tau aswell, and have you seen the Dow movie? ultramarines? like you said, chaos space marines are getting shot like fools, they were once space marines to but more ferocious now when they have joined khorne and nurgle, they should be harder to take down.
Next game should be Rubric marines,necrons,IG and tau mostly I say

Ghargatuloth and Abraxes are fine examples of what the followers of Tzeentch do in his name. And of course there's the odd time when Tzeentch's plots result in the destruction of one of his daemons to help yet another plot.

ACTUALLY the activities of Magnus the Red and their psychic activities to reach the Emperor caused a hole in the Emperor's shield against such powers. Horus might not have been so successful without Magnus' interference, even if they were meant in good spirit
I'm one of those odd chaps that enjoys feilding the thousand sons.Nice simple and effective tactic to use : advane boltering the hell out of the enemy.Then when your close fall back boltering the hell out of the enemy :D

It's 'claimed' that he's healing in stasis, easily a PR thing the Imperium/ Ultramar is running. I don't know about Russ or Jonson, the webways are pretty big and fairly intrical to both's objectives i would imagine
Ironically I think that the Thousand Sons are the only Chaos Legion who has a right to be angry. They actually WERE betrayed by the Emperor...oh well.
Not fun, Chaos manipulated some moral fault with them mostly, the thousand sons went Tzeench becase that was Mangus's only chance to survive Russ's (i beleive) attack, while the Alpha Leagion went chaos to help Horus kill the emporor, sealing chaos's fate
@midgetydeath there is a bunch of chaos chapters who got betrayed by the emperor, but non of them belongs to the main gods (khorne, slanesh, tzeench and nurgle) except of course the thousand sons. But actually all chaos chapters kinda got betrayed, i mean, their old leaders were mostly the emperors sons (literaly) and horus (their grand leader) got his ass handed to him in the war, after that they got banished and are now getting hunt down, that is kinda betraying.

I might recommend reading Prospero Burns. There was no betrayal by the Emperor, simply the All Father upholding his own laws. Sometimes the most loyal child will still disobey their parents. This does not make the Fifteenth Legion right, regardless of intent. As such, the Sixth Legion was ordered to kill their brothers.
Guliman was mortally wounded by the Slaanesh's demon prince, considered as Fulgrim, which is not correct, cos unlike the other traitor primarchs, who were elevated to the rank of demon prince, Fulgrim was enslaved, not elevated. He lost his soul and body to the chaos demon during the dropsite massacre on Isstvan V, when he was fighting Ferrus Manus. So he really ceased the decision making thereafter.
I thought fulgrim killed Ferus Manus and fulgrim is just trapped inside his body because of the deal he made with the daemon? did he kill gulliman too? for all purposes guliman is mostly dead
Fulgrim repented, it was the demon that possesed him that did all the killing... Horus was planning on killing the demon and freeing Fulgrim, but things didnt go so well.
Pre-Heresy Thousand Sons r by far the coolest SM legion:) They r also the only ones who can actually claim that the Emperor did in fact betray them....
He ordered the space wolves to attack them becuase he suspected they were using sorcerery...which they were....but Magnus was only doing it for the Emperor..he even used his powers to try to convice Horus not to fall to chaos..(He failed of course)..
And all the Emperor did in return was to destroy thier homeworld for suspected heresy:P DTFE!:)

So what did Magnus do? But of course he used his sorcery once more turning his minions into dust, and sealing their fate as a legion of chaos space marines.
Perhaps, but it wasn't Magnus who created the Rubic Marines, it was Ahriman and his coven. Magnus banished them afterwards for unleashing the spell :)

The Rubric was caused by Ahriman, chief librarian of the Thousand Sons. Hence, the Rubric of Ahriman. This was after the siege on Terra, on the planet of sorcerers. And Magnus had nothing to do with it.
That is correct. The rubric failed, because Ahriman and his coven wasn't powerful enough.
All Thousand Sons that had a decent psychic prowess survived, and became immune to mutation, but all brothers that had little to no psychic prowess got their armour sealed, and turned to dust.
@kliknes How would that work now though? I mean the novel A Thousand Sons (Which is canon) shows all the sons having psychic ability and therefore according to that they should've all become aspiring sorcerors! I guess that'll be sorted out in the next Chaos codex...
@JulianusFlavius1 I'm pretty sure it doesn't claim all the Sons have psychic abilities. For instance, during the battle of Prospero, not every Thousand Son was pummeling away with Psychic powers. Keeping in mind that having an affinity to psychic powers was probably within every single Thousand Son, not everyone had provess with it.
Also, Black Library is pseudo-cannon. The only true cannon are the codices.

You know, the Ruinous Power who's calling card is an enigma in a riddle wrapped in a mystery, with wheels within the wheels of the wheels within the wheels? But Russ didnt just attack because hes a battle hungry Primarch but also because he feared that if he showed disobedience he and his legion might be branded as chaos followers. He like Magus had no choice in what he did.
Thousand sons are really the only chaos legion who changed there symbol. It ent from scarab to tzeentch symbol right? While the other legions just edited there symbol to have a few more arrows. (Except the emperors children XD)
I am curious...why they changed their color from red to blue?I will paint them in future and play with them and I like red scheme more...and I guess there will be no conversions for armour as it probadly didnt change during time...correct me if I am wrong.
Tell ya the truth, I don't overly care for Tzeentch. Out of the four Chaos gods, he would be my 3rd choice. I like Nurgle and Slaanesh first, and Khorne is fourth. But Tzeentch is still awesome with the mutations and the stuff he does.
if u think about it, the space wolves are the real traitors, as is the emperor, for his foolish misnderstanding, the thousand sons pay. the emperor made a mistake, and they pay for it. the only chaos i like are the thousand sons, and as a templar(ish) player this is strange.
i have a space wolf friend who refers to the thousand sons as poor fighters, he couldnt say it after their revenge on the white fang mountain. but they fight for a mere exhitance, maybe in the end they will be redeemed and saved from this mistake, if only.............

That's also true, but the if the emperor let the thousand sons used sorcery. If the emperor would have allowed the uncontrolled use of sorcery, then tzeentch could have become the most powerful of the chaosgods. It was absolutly forbidden to use sorcery.

Actually, they did not fail. They were with the Emperor until Leman Russ wiped out the Thousand Sons homeworld.
Magnus the Red and his Legion had no choice, they either sided with Horus to survive or die against the Space Wolves. They chose life over death.

Guilliman ins't dead and his not like the Emperor, He is Slowly healing in Stasis.
Leman Russ said that he will return in the Wolftime (final battle).
Lion El Jonson will one day return.
All is not lost yet.

It's 'claimed' that he's healing in stasis, easily a PR thing the Imperium/ Ultramar is running. I don't know about Russ or Jonson, the webways are pretty big and fairly intrical to both's objectives i would imagine

Ironically I think that the Thousand Sons are the only Chaos Legion who has a right to be angry. They actually WERE betrayed by the Emperor...oh well.

Not fun, Chaos manipulated some moral fault with them mostly, the thousand sons went Tzeench becase that was Mangus's only chance to survive Russ's (i beleive) attack, while the Alpha Leagion went chaos to help Horus kill the emporor, sealing chaos's fate

@midgetydeath there is a bunch of chaos chapters who got betrayed by the emperor, but non of them belongs to the main gods (khorne, slanesh, tzeench and nurgle) except of course the thousand sons. But actually all chaos chapters kinda got betrayed, i mean, their old leaders were mostly the emperors sons (literaly) and horus (their grand leader) got his ass handed to him in the war, after that they got banished and are now getting hunt down, that is kinda betraying.

the Thousand Sons, to my knowledge at least, were the only ones who were actually hit first by the Emperor, and not vice versa.

I might recommend reading Prospero Burns. There was no betrayal by the Emperor, simply the All Father upholding his own laws. Sometimes the most loyal child will still disobey their parents. This does not make the Fifteenth Legion right, regardless of intent. As such, the Sixth Legion was ordered to kill their brothers.

Guliman was mortally wounded by the Slaanesh's demon prince, considered as Fulgrim, which is not correct, cos unlike the other traitor primarchs, who were elevated to the rank of demon prince, Fulgrim was enslaved, not elevated. He lost his soul and body to the chaos demon during the dropsite massacre on Isstvan V, when he was fighting Ferrus Manus. So he really ceased the decision making thereafter.

Fulgrim repented, it was the demon that possesed him that did all the killing... Horus was planning on killing the demon and freeing Fulgrim, but things didnt go so well.

Pre-Heresy Thousand Sons r by far the coolest SM legion:) They r also the only ones who can actually claim that the Emperor did in fact betray them....
He ordered the space wolves to attack them becuase he suspected they were using sorcerery...which they were....but Magnus was only doing it for the Emperor..he even used his powers to try to convice Horus not to fall to chaos..(He failed of course)..
And all the Emperor did in return was to destroy thier homeworld for suspected heresy:P DTFE!:)

It was really Horus's fault.
The emperor sent Russ to Arrest Magnus. But using his authority as warmaster Horus told Russ to just kill him. And being the obedient battle hungry Primarch that he was Russ lead his legion to Prospero and destroyed it.
So what did Magnus do? But of course he used his sorcery once more turning his minions into dust, and sealing their fate as a legion of chaos space marines.

Perhaps, but it wasn't Magnus who created the Rubic Marines, it was Ahriman and his coven. Magnus banished them afterwards for unleashing the spell :)

Well actually, Magnus turned to Tzeentch to whisk them away from the battle at the last moment. He then joined Horus, because he saw that as his only option.
The Rubric was caused by Ahriman, chief librarian of the Thousand Sons. Hence, the Rubric of Ahriman. This was after the siege on Terra, on the planet of sorcerers. And Magnus had nothing to do with it.

That is correct. The rubric failed, because Ahriman and his coven wasn't powerful enough.
All Thousand Sons that had a decent psychic prowess survived, and became immune to mutation, but all brothers that had little to no psychic prowess got their armour sealed, and turned to dust.
Hence, "All is Dust"

@kliknes How would that work now though? I mean the novel A Thousand Sons (Which is canon) shows all the sons having psychic ability and therefore according to that they should've all become aspiring sorcerors! I guess that'll be sorted out in the next Chaos codex...

@JulianusFlavius1 I'm pretty sure it doesn't claim all the Sons have psychic abilities. For instance, during the battle of Prospero, not every Thousand Son was pummeling away with Psychic powers. Keeping in mind that having an affinity to psychic powers was probably within every single Thousand Son, not everyone had provess with it.
Also, Black Library is pseudo-cannon. The only true cannon are the codices.

But Russ didnt just attack because hes a battle hungry Primarch but also because he feared that if he showed disobedience he and his legion might be branded as chaos followers. He like Magus had no choice in what he did.

Thousand sons are really the only chaos legion who changed there symbol. It ent from scarab to tzeentch symbol right? While the other legions just edited there symbol to have a few more arrows. (Except the emperors children XD)

I am curious...why they changed their color from red to blue?I will paint them in future and play with them and I like red scheme more...and I guess there will be no conversions for armour as it probadly didnt change during time...correct me if I am wrong.

Tell ya the truth, I don't overly care for Tzeentch. Out of the four Chaos gods, he would be my 3rd choice. I like Nurgle and Slaanesh first, and Khorne is fourth. But Tzeentch is still awesome with the mutations and the stuff he does.

if u think about it, the space wolves are the real traitors, as is the emperor, for his foolish misnderstanding, the thousand sons pay. the emperor made a mistake, and they pay for it. the only chaos i like are the thousand sons, and as a templar(ish) player this is strange.

i have a space wolf friend who refers to the thousand sons as poor fighters, he couldnt say it after their revenge on the white fang mountain. but they fight for a mere exhitance, maybe in the end they will be redeemed and saved from this mistake, if only.............

That's also true, but the if the emperor let the thousand sons used sorcery. If the emperor would have allowed the uncontrolled use of sorcery, then tzeentch could have become the most powerful of the chaosgods. It was absolutly forbidden to use sorcery.
