I remember watching the Trade Tests in the school hols, and Evoluon I've never forgotten because o 'The Frog'!My neighbours at the time were dutch and I asked 'Wat iz Ik ben de Kicker? Zoot Dankje Vel!
This was great to see ! Even though I was born in 1967, I visited the Evoluon quite a few times. Thinks I remembered from this film were the gigantic Nixie tubes indicating the number of visitors, the speaker set-ups with the fans etc. and that colorful "kermis" (fun-fair) scene with the color camera (which must have been pretty cool in 1969 ! Sad that it closed, but they couldn't keep up with technology. I _loved_ the whole atmosphere in the building. Like another world.....thanks !
How great it is to be able to see this short film again from the early 70's. Was thinking about it the other day, tried good old You Tube and Hey Presto!
Some of the music reminds me of the idyll of some aspects of the Netherlands and Belgium... a glorious feeling of freedom from the "slavery" and restrictions of when I was with the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Anyone know anything about the soundtrack?I know that ist probably a 60s library album, and Roger roger did some of the querky music, but Im after the more vocal music and the jazz breaks.
@tubesnova I am not certain, but the vocals sound like a French fifties/sixties jazz singing group called The Blue Notes, from amongst whom the Swingle singers were eventually formed. Tony
The bits I remembered were the guy trying to grab the coin, "I am the frog", "I'm sorry" (the woman on the telephone), "TOFFEE" (or whatever that electronic voice is saying), and the ending "Evoluon Evoluon EVOLUOOOOOON"
I remember this film from the BBC trade test transmissions of the late sixties/earlt seventies. Thank you whoever put this on youtube. Happy memories for me as well.
This is the only trade test transmission film I've found on YouTube. I wonder where the others are, like Ride The White Horses, the one made by British Gas, the UK tourism one, the story of the truckers in Australia..
Those days (late '60s) reflected a widespread optimism for the future, if only we could go back to those times, even though it was then during the Cold War. But we've evolved many light years in technology since then!!
Oh good grief that was amazing. The only bits I remember are the start where the camera travels around the building, and strangly enough, the bit where that guy tries to grab the coin and every time his fingers get near, it retracts into the table out of his reach. But thanks anyway, I have just spent the last 12-15 minutes a child again.

This place inspired many young people to love technology.

I used to watch this over and over again as a kid of 8 or 9. Parts of it are quite nightmarish at that age......

Wonderful to see this again. I remember it as a young T.V. engineer in the 'sixties when the BBC used it as a colour test film.
It seemed like anything was possoble in those optimistic days!.

Great stuff. I would visit Evoluon regularly in the early '70s with my family, and remember many of those exhibits.
Those physics of sound demos played a key role in developing my interest in audio, a field I continue to work in to this day.

Me too BlackmoonUK.
I always remember the lift coming to a sudden halt which happens at 3 minutes 19. I thought it looked a bit severe!
