  • Looks like a lot of real-life religions I could name.

  • "I've got one already!"

    *Strangles*

    XD

  • oh my god. David Tennant is Eric Idle.

  • I myself belong to the most boring, lazy religion in the world. Evangelical Lutheranism.

  • Well I'm English, I love Python and I think the top-rated comment is a pompous load of old badger-crap. There's some excellent American comedy and some really shit British comedy (Catherine Tate for example).

And the same in reverse. I don't think "where you were born on the planet" defines good comedy - it's either good or it's shit.

  • I was in a crackpot religion once, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • How much does he look like David Tennant's doctor who? 2:10

  • I'm starting a war for peace.

  • What the fuck was that thing at the end? Scared the hell out of me.

  • That's it, I'm converting to the Church of the Divine Loony!

  • @dharmaseed I converted years ago, my friend.

  • Holy crap! There isn't a religious flame war in the first page of comments! Finally!

  • @GHOSTpssrby it's so relieving! Monty Python brings out the best in us! :)

  • Archbishop Nudge : 'I like a piece, know what I mean ? eh ? eh ? ', Lol. Love that vicar cartoon

  • "Keep the Rio Tinto" wow!!!

  • those animations are nightmare fuel

  • "...and there's his mate Bruce Beer"

  • I was in a crackpot religion once, but we ran out of pots.

  • @kevinastraw So you had a lot of pot, but now it's all crack?

    A profit!

  • Monty Python is years ahead of our time.

  • lol opposite john lennon "i'm starting a war for peace"

  • John Cleese, Graham Chapman, and Eric Idle attended Cambridge University, while Terry Jones and Michael Palin attended Oxford University. John Cleese studied law and Graham Chapman is qualified as a doctor. Eric Idle studied English, Terry Jones is a political commentator, Michael Palin is a travel documentarian, and Terry Gilliam studied political history in college.

This is why British comedy is better than American comedy.

  • @tbcfrankee I don't really see your point, and I don't agree with your conclusion. Aside from that, great comment.

  • @tbcfrankee (a) Chapman 'was' qualified; assuming you agree that qualifications cease to be when the holder does. (b) Being educated doesn't mean comedy is better. It doesn't take a degree from a respected university to be able to observe and comment on the situations in life that amuse us--i.e., to be a funny comedian.

  • You cant categorise comedy in "American" or "British" like most people do. I think " Curb your enthusiasm" are extremely different from " Its always sunny in philadelfia" just like "Little britain" is with "The office". Comedy is very individual and its more about talent then education. Sure, its fun when the comedians are smart, but many american comedy writers have gone to Yale and Harvard and i´m NOT talking about stupid sitcom writers. But yes, the best comedy is from Britain

  • @tbcfrankee I think that's exactly why it's not better. I have tremendous respect for Monty Python, but Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, Bill Hicks and Richard Pryor etc. are still superior in my mind exactly because they are knowledgeable misfits and lowlife iconoclasts, and not part of any elitist world of academia. That's certainly not the only reason, however.

  • @tbcfrankee Terry G is an American.

  • @AndrewP222 yes, but he played the most minor role of all of the pythons, making cartoons and appearing occasionally in sketchs. originally he wasn't even considered to be part of the group.

  • @abchandler4 But he WAS in the group, and according to the other Pythons, a very important part. And he's American.

  • @AndrewP222 Not anymore, he isn't. Gave up his citizenship :P

  • *insert Scientology joke here*

  • yeah gumby

  • Ron L. Hubbard must have started his crackpot religion right after watching this skit.

  • crackpot religion?!

there was a money base religion before Scientology?!

  • There are already plenty of crack pot religions like Christianity and Islam, without inventing any more!

  • 0:55 I always trust a religion with a nude musician playing with his organ

  • @moxie96 what, sick people can't get naked?

  • I want a tea trolley!

  • Gosh, I just can't help it, but the way John is talking while playing the Naughty Religion Ltd Archbishop really reminds me of Baldur von Schirach O_____o

  • @MartialRulerMaster It reminds me of Mathew Perry 0_o

  • This is the truest thing I've ever seen on Youtube.

  • 'im starting a war for peace' im a HUGE MEGA beatles fan and when i saw this i laughed my head off.

    not a bad john impression

i think this is the sort of comedy that should be going around and not this beiber stuff

  • Was Terry Jones sick that week so we had to settle with Gilliam's naked body?

  • This is like bribery (lobbying) be big corporations in the United States - "you have won the Norwich City Council" ... "I've got one already"

  • and Scientology is born

  • At least we know now what's, let's say, different in Terry Gilliams head. ;)

  • Im starting a war for peace

  • Good credit! Bad credit! No credit! You're in!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Archbishops Gumby, Lennon and Shabby seem like good people to follow.

  • I WANT THE NORWICH CITY COUNCIL !!

  • Enough to make any chap go down...

  • And theres his friend

    Bruce Beer

    XD

  • I don't know what to choose - follow Archbishop Gumby or convert to lunatic religion. Advice me, people.

  • @alinemerrow I'd follow Archbishop Nudge if I were you >=))

  • I just converted to the lunatic religion

    what episode is this from

  • $cientology is dafter than that

  • Apart from the baptist! Bahahahahaha!!!

  • Dude, WTF's that under his head?! XD

  • Why is Terry Gilliam always mostly naked or doing something ridiculous when he gets a part?

  • @thecompton01 Because he (by his own admission) was the least talented actor in the group.

  • Norwich City Council! Just what I always wanted. . .

  • Cartoon creeped me out. As it creeped the audience out I bet.

  • Free Gifts from GOD - no WAY?

  • I've seen Archibishop Gumby in my city the other day.

  • lennon!!!!!!!!

  • But I've got one already! *gets choked*

  • BASICALLYYYYYYYY! IIIIIII! BELIIIIIIIIIEEEEVE! IN PEACE! ANNNNNNNND! BASHING TWOOOOOOOOOO! BRICKS TOGETHAAAAAAAAAAAA!

  • Not only is "Crackpot Religions" silly, but it's also redundant.

  • @joshaf26 Scientology?

  • 3:10 "BASICALLY, I BELIEVE IN PEACE AND BASHING TWO BRICKS TOGETHER!!" (Archbishop Gumby)

  • I picked Hymn 112! Do I get the luxury caravan?!

  • So John Cleese is where the cheney and his evil spawn got their weird way of talking out of the side of their mouths.

  • This sketch shows how much Python were before their time, and how humour comes from intelligence and observation. Brillianr, simply brilliant.

  • These days this is almost too painful to be funny - particularly Graham Chapman's catholic cardinal talking to his stockbroker.

  • and now for something completely different

  • All of them are crackpots. From Hubbard to the Pope, they are all bullshit spreaders.

  • It's...It's...It's...an impersenation of John Lennon. 8D

  • This is an example of the sort of abuse we get all the time from iggerant people.

  • The Scientology speech would probably go a little something like this:

"We at the Church of Scientology believe that giving all of our money the church will save our souls from being scooped up and thrown into a giant volcano by the evil alien overlord Xenu.”

    Hmm…perhaps that’s a little too crackpot…

  • Starting a war for peace actually does sound like something John Lennon would do.

  • Hmmmm. I thought Archbishop Sarah was from Alaska.

  • THE Archbishop of Australia

    LOL

  • 3:26

    Eric Idle as John Lennon??!!

"I'm starting a war for peace..."

  • I don't understand the telephone joke....

  • Did $cientology ever sue them for this?

  • Notice the recurring characters!

Archbishop Gumby: D.P. Gumby (whichever Gumby, he's still a Gumby)

    Archbishop Shabby: Ken Shabby

Archbishop Nudge: Arthur Name (a.k.a. the Nudge man)

  • Oh my fuck! I love when Cleese just slaps Palin! I almost died laughing!

  • Terry Gilliam's animations = complete randomness at its funniest

  • Seeing Eric Idle brings The Ruttles to mind. "I think I'm in Luv!"

  • George Clinton proved Brothers should not do LSD and Mony Python proved that Englanders should not smoke pot! Heh!

  • *nudge nudge*

  • "And tonight's star prize: the entire Norwich City Council", muahahaha!

  • Best line: "I've got one already!"

  • Holy shit, the Cartoon Religion guy scared the living hell out of me. O.O"

  • I've got one already.

  • this is freaky

  • I know that Britain is a free country but it's a monarhy! The way that monty Python attacked dogma is very important for the coexistence of human life on earth. I'm a resident of the United States and even I know this. You pommies should be proud!

  • i'm raisin polecats for peace haha

  • I love monty python or god's of comedy

  • I think $cientology would be too wacky for the Pythons.

  • Archbishop Gumby! :'D

  • 4:40 D:

  • Is the representative of the "No Questions asked" church Luigi Vercotti?

  • LMAO

  • "im starting a war for peace"

  • what's with monty python and people playing the organ naked?

  • Could somebody cut all the naked-organ-playing scenes together in a clip? I would enjoy that :)

(Do only the Terrys play the organ?)

  • love story x)

  • shabby allthewaylol

  • I laughed out loud when John Cleese started to strangle Michael Palin!!

  • "Peace? I like a piece!", muahaha!

  • Gahh! That cartoon at the end freaks me out. The outside more than the inside.

  • @Android2137 theres actually more to it. the original episode that remains unaired has the animation go farther...type in "satan monty python" for the lost part.

  • @Android2137 Totally! Terry Gilliam must have had some major issues...

  • As true today as it was back then. (Sadly).

  • LOL John and Eric

Archibishop of Australia at 2:41 and Archbishop Nudge at 3:46 !

    I love them both!

  • I'd follow Archbishop Gumby any day.

  • @cfan12 Amen to that! :D

  • @cfan12 Reminds me of the pope Benedict XVI. Makes about as much sense.

  • FTW ARCHBISHOP GUMBY!!

  • lol, the Archbissop of Australia!

This is a very very good sketch

  • ...I'm starting a war with polecats, that I raised, for peace.

  • That's about the size of it.

  • God I nearly pissed myself when John smacked Michael in the face ROFL

  • i love when john start's killing michael

  • that cartoon is freaking me out!

  • 3:26

xD is that their impression of John Lennon?

Know what I mean, know what mean *Nudge, nudge* Say no more say no more, ;)

  • It has to be! xD

  • @1animegurl1 "Silence" I agree. (Looks just like John Lennon) Now that I know what is really going on under our noses the things within these vids is very 'OUT there in our faces." WOW-ing. Happy to have them here to view. CONTROL and manipulation by Religion is one of the biggest ways the huge sheeple flock are kept in check. Yep!! When belief structures removed "The blind can then see." I send Love and Laughter out to all. :-)

  • i love how the cartoon guy nails his head shut

  • ....But I've got one already!

  • the last cartoon was scary :S

  • God bless Archbishop Gumby

  • Comment removed

  • 4:40 is REALLY CREEPY

  • Actually, Crackpot Religions, Ltd. has more in common with Benny Hinn and Trinity Broadcasting Network than Ol' bubba hub. It's the "prosperity gospel" foretold in the Book of Python (Monty).

  • That last one reminded me of the Moral Majority type of prelate.

  • john lennon spoof... classic

  • I know!! One of my favourite things in Python, EVER (I'm a huge Lennon fan)

  • Hadn't seen this classic Python skit in a long time! It's very cool!

  • LOL! I'm a HUGE Monty Python fan, and am ardently anti-CoS. I can't believe I forgot all about this sketch!

    Top stuff!

  • fially! inside info on scifientology!

  • The Church of the Divine Looney reminded me of something. Can't seem to place it though.

  • It starts with "hub" and ends with "bard"...

  • Hubbard...

    I don't get it.>=D

  • as in L. Ron Hubbard. as in Tom Cruise

  • @ScottyWZ He likes to smoke Cools, not cigars. (keep the jingle going)

  • @ScottyWZ Except that religion is far from divine.

  • WBC?

  • nice....
