This is why British comedy is better than American comedy.

You cant categorise comedy in "American" or "British" like most people do. I think " Curb your enthusiasm" are extremely different from " Its always sunny in philadelfia" just like "Little britain" is with "The office". Comedy is very individual and its more about talent then education. Sure, its fun when the comedians are smart, but many american comedy writers have gone to Yale and Harvard and i´m NOT talking about stupid sitcom writers. But yes, the best comedy is from Britain

I have tremendous respect for Monty Python, but Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, Bill Hicks and Richard Pryor etc. are still superior in my mind exactly because they are knowledgeable misfits and lowlife iconoclasts, and not part of any elitist world of academia. That's certainly not the only reason, however.
