  • THE LOST GIRP OF BMW SERIES ARE ALL SERIES IN 2000-PRESENT.

  • 2011 335d ALL OPTIONS N PACKGS , MAKES PERFECT SENSE YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE AND TOMORROW IS NEVER PROMISE.

  • IAM GETTNN ONE IN A MONTH TRADING MY 2007 335I

  • its truly... a beautiful car...

  • @mmeister1770

I said the 330D, not the 335D...thanks for actually reading my comment.....

  • I know that motortrend is an American magazine but this review reminded me alot of Top Gear! hahaha

  • You might want to setup your head restraint the next time you hop into a new car...

  • Im thinking about trading up, right now I have a 1982 Mercedes 240D, diesel manual trans, a blast to drive, but gutless. I've looked at the new Merc, no thank you, The 335D is $10,000 cheaper and you get more power, better efficiency, and more comfort. Im sold 335D it is.

  • Ok, so it's been over a year since I posted on my 2009 335d. As of this blog I have clocked over 31,000 miles on my baby. My commute averages roughly 34.5 mpg and my highway trips continue to run about 41 mpg. I've not had a single problem with this machine. The local BMW garage (Otto's of Exton) have been incredibly great to work with. Many thanks to the engineers and scientists at BMW!! (Now how about a 1-series diesel in USA?)

  • gt5 sux in one way, it wont let me put rally tires on my 120d.

  • I Drive a 2010 330d with only one Turbocharger but still 245bhp and 520 Nm Torque.(it also has an Alu Engineblock)

They say it needs 5,7Liter on 100km. My lowest was 6,3l and with driving a bit "sporty" ;) it needs 7,0l/100km whats still amazing. Thats less than the 163bhp 320d that i had before and makes so much more fun!

    0 to100Kmh i get in 6 seconds by handshift.

I dont need I-Drive and Navi too... makes it only heavier :)

Anyone who looks for a superior and efficient car:Take 330d or 335d!

  • @T330d I'm so jealous! I drive a 2011 VW Golf TDI mostly because we don't have the 330d over here in the states. Not gonna lie though, I do love my little golf (I think a lot of it has to do with the 6-speed manual gearbox, I'm enamored with it) but were the 330d available in the states I would jump on it in a heartbeat.

  • @DanteJoseCuervo The 335d is here. I have one.

  • Hey Guys, Iam German and its funny hear things about Diesel wouldnt be as good as gasoline cars because Diesel is better. You need less compared to Gasoline cars and you have a lot more power! The old Volkswagen TDI sounds like a traktor but today especially BMW Diesel cars doesnt sound like a diesel :) But not only BMW, also Audi and Mercedes build perfect Diesel engines. So have fun and drive german cars :P

  • i want one

  • I own a VW Jetta TDI 2005, I've owned this car for about 3 years. and I would like more Americans to buy diesel because it's what they actually need ! Great torque for passing on the highway, fuel efficient, and great torque (once again) on hilly roads. I'm sold with diesels :) Love this 335d.

  • I have one I love it so sexy beat m3 off the line beat a motorcycle off the line st lams you in the seat for a kick and gets great mileage, cant' beat it live the sexy bitch

  • I get so freaking mad every time i hear someone even mentioning diesels as being slow.... petrol is inferior in every single aspect to the diesel. If you drive a 140 hp petrol engine car, and then sit inside 140 hp diesel engine, it will feel MUCH more powerful and faster than petrol version.

  • Prefer 335i Vote up

  • Prefer 335d Vote up

  • @YogiMan8U better mileage than my wrx

  • @YogiMan8U bmw 524td

  • ingeneerd in GERMANY

  • Is the 335d the only Diesel that is available in america?

  • @machusi1989 No it's not. BMW also makes the X5 35d. From other companies: VW Jetta(sedan and wagon), Golf(2 and 4 door) and Toureg. Mercedes Benz has a few, just look for bluetec. Audi has the A3 and Q7, I know for sure. But off the top of my head, those are the only diesel cars in the US currently available. The VW's are the lowest priced for their respective class.

  • @machusi1989 No. I have a VW Jetta TurboDiesel that was made in 2000!

  • 30mpg at 120mph.... I want one

  • 524td was last diesel in usa.

  • i rather like bmws

  • The website of diesel cars - dieselpower.blog.hu

  • What a great car - and you get some excitement too - vs. the tired old jap crap that drifts all over the road.

  • good

  • This thing is such a pleasure to drive for a cross country trip across western Europe...where the drivers are disciplined, almost no potholes, and blast thru those autobahns at max speed in comfort... Love it.

  • So much torque, so much fun!

  • What about a 135d? Come on BMW...

  • thatd b awesome....

  • How do you wanna get 580nm under control ? Your traction control would be blinking all the time. I doubt you'd get along any faster.

  • I think the engine would be too heavy for a 1 series. I'm sure

  • @Tsparkdriver It has an aluminum block.

  • @neemguy81

    cast iron......

  • If BMW would give the 335d xdrive it would be loads better but I own one and it's wonderful.

  • Do we get the wagon version as well in N.A.?

  • I'm impressed

  • I would love to get a 335D coupe. man that would be sexy. I'm not married, so no need for a sedan. Come on BMW! bring me a 335D coupe plz!

  • Don't you have that ? In Germany you can buy that^^

  • @ThirdLife86 I'm in teh US man qq

  • Oh...that sucks :S

So far its just the coupe though here, the convertible is only available as 330d.

  • this is the best car to own. The new BMW X1 and its ''civilized'' size is also a very promising option as an all-rounder vehicle, at least the bigger engine versions. can't wait to test one.

  • Considering the back and forth discussion in that "comments" section, this nice car isn't worth it and it does show when it occupied 1-2 percent of 3 series sales. However, because the US is known for gas guzzling SUVs, how come I don't see enough marketing for them? I ask because there is a bigger savings from, say, 15 to 20 mpg than from 35 to 40.

  • saw this at the LA auto show!! WAs fucking sick!

  • This car would be my choice out in the streets. I would take it with some resentment however, BMW needs to learn how to get rid of that stupid additive every 15k miles or whatever it is. Other than that, it has 4 doors room for 4, plenty of low end grunt and good MPG. I'm sold.

  • What`s the deal of diesel cars?

  • how does it handel in the weather? My concern is living in New England with snow and ice in the winter, how does all that torque affect traction? Any rear wheel drive slip and slide?

  • It has traction control, like any powerful modern car.

  • Nashuaam - I finally got my first chance to drive my 335d on snow-covered roads. (Actually, I got caught off-guard due to a poor weather forecast :>) I was truly amazed at how well this car drives in snow. The traction control combined with front-rear balance (~50-50) results in a confident feel, good traction, no instability in movement. I was in 2-3 Inches of snow and not a single slip in rear-wheel drive. (btw - In my most recent round trip to DC (from PHL) is clocked in 44.2 mpg. Nice.

  • I test drove the 335i & not only did I love the performance, but the car was surprisingly/amazingly comfortable!!!!!!!!!!

  • I've driven my new 2009 335d a little over 7,000 miles so far. I agree with Dayrax, this is *the* car. A recent round trip Philly-to-DC averaged 41.2 miles/gallon - simply amazing. Things I love about this car - Torque, Fuel efficiency, Handling (it's a 3 series), Comfort. Also, I did NOT want any options.. No Nav (gotta Garmin), No iDrive (just don't need it). No Bluetooth (actually I could use that option). If you are looking for an awesome, efficient car - Definitely test drive one of these.

  • Completely agree. Live in the Bethesda, MD area and took delivery of my '10 335d in October. The torque is awesome and mated with the turbos makes passing at any speed a simple and grin inducing task. The only issue is finding good quality fuel in this area. Do you have any recommendations for high Cetane stations??

  • ojk - I have not assessed the Cetane ratings, however I use *exclusively* Sunoco ULSD and have been pleased with consistency in performance up and down the east coast.

  • @malingroad shoot. i want one just to do burnouts in diesel. ahahhahahaahaahaah

  • @malingroad I agree with you. I live near the BMW performance center in SC. They let you test their cars on their tracks during some of the events they have. It's sooo fast for a diesel and the engine sounds pretty good too. I love it, and plan to get one in the coming year or 2.

  • @malingroad

lol (actually I could use that option).

  • I have one. The car is "the one" but, the left tire doesn´t work very well. My problem is the service.

he change the rhim and the tyred but it was worsd...

  • Comment removed

  • so, economy friendly aside, which one is better 335i or 335d?

  • the 335d because of the torque and modern technology

  • 535d needs to come to the us

  • "Like Tom Waits gargling a gallon of Irish Cream!" -Very goog, very good indeed.

  • nice but i'd still rather the 320d.

  • Comment removed

  • I've driven both. And man, once you feel that push in your back when your release those 580 Nm's, you'll forget about that 320.

  • Just ordered a '10 335d and ended up at $42,515 (after $4500 "EcoRebate" but before ttt) for a black/black/nav/cold weather. No leather cause the German synthetic seat material is 0 cost and incredible. Dealer took MSRP-2% to get that number.

Oh yeah the $42,500 does NOT include the $900 Federal tax rebate (not write-off, but cash back) you get for driving one of the cleanest cars on the road, real world 40MPG. Cheap diesel.

And find me a Lexus that has all that torque.....

    Case closed.

  • promise that you'll post a vid as soon as you get the 335d!

  • Hell ya, it's on order now. End of year.

  • dude but seriously, make some detailed vids about it,

i'm gonna recommend it to my mom,

AND WE ALL KNOW SHE'S NOT THE 1 THAT'S GONNA DRIVE IT!

  • post up a video

  • I love BMW's!!!!!!! i want an M6 or this someday..right now I drive my 96 cadillac Deville and it gets about 26 miles a gallon... or 500 miles on 20 gallons of premium unleaded

  • Bought an e92 m3 this year but a long commute is absurd in such a sporty car so ordered one of these to fulfill that role - thanks Angus for confirming the wisdom of that choice. AND, BMW is giving a $4,500 "Eco Credit" and there's a tax credit too. Only negative: no cars available so it's getting built next mth (week 43) and arrives beginning Dec. Can't wait to feel that torque!

  • DIESEL POWER RULES !!!!!!

  • how much do the urea refills cost after maint runs out

  • awesome car

  • haha ;-) i believe you ;-) it is a serial twin turbo diesel. The lag is extremely small most people don't feel it anymore.

In america they make the car les responsive and the suspension softer, because otherwise the car would be to good and the gouverment wil have less taxes.

  • my dad has a BMW 335d, but he tuned it on friday and now it has 335hp. its amazing! nearly 295km/h with gps navigation.

  • those ECU tune up will eventually mess up the engine.

  • LOL

  • BMW is anything BUT unreliable...and i'm sorry to say but Lexus doesn't even compare to this in my opinion

  • you said it all in one sentence. you know nothing this BMW. dont insult what you definately dont understand.

  • the only ones who comment the video are ppl who are jealeous of ppl who buy BMW's, cant u write anything positive..

  • what!? 287bhp from 3L diesel?? and 580Nm of torque , Its a Diesel not a petrol

  • 30mpg @ 120 mph lol but still luv the car

  • Comment removed

  • Japanese cars are copies? While apparently they are good copies if they sell more than Mercedes, audi, or bmw and have the highest rating in quality and customer satisfactions.

A one time 1800 tax credit still doesn't cover the difference for the car and the performance of the 335i is superior to the 335d. So obviously you are missing some brain cells or something because you'd rather have ugly sounding and nasty smelling urea in your car.

  • I'm not sure if this was mentioned, but gallons in theh UK does NOT equal US gallons.

  • Miktre, they measure by liters in the UK whereas we measure by the gallon. Gallons are still gallons. Pennies are still pennies. A pound is still a pound. Wow.

  • Unconfirmed, son!

    1 UK gallon = 4.54609188 liters

    1 US gallon = 3.78541178 liters

Look it up for yourself. They are still differences between the British, the imperial, and the US customary albeit at times temporarily and very sleight!

  • You mean the "imperial" gallon versus the gallon. Europeans measure by liters anyways so what's the big deal.

  • Agreed :). I am German myself, so I think in metric units anyway and then convert into whichever is needed. Question to you: it seems as if you like performance cars and if possible cars nicer to the environment + whatever makes sense financially --- have you sat in a Tesla yet or even driven it? Now, THAT is a very nice piece of American engineering.

  • Tesla I have only heard good reviews of but the recharge time is ludicrous and inconvenient.

  • Why do reviwers never record the sound of the car, its either mind numbing euro house music or someone talking the entire time.

Great it performs, but does it sound like a truck?

  • I drive an F250 diesel and this most definitely does not compare. I've heard this car, it's actually quieter than it's gasoline equivalent while driving city/highway.

It's only a slight bit louder at idle.

  • at 30 mpg even if the price of diesel is higher it is still worth it. 20 mpg in a gas sports sedan is good. 30mpg is amazing. I bet an ecu flash will add 2-7 mpg to that 30.

  • You sacrifice performance with the diesel. Also, it's 3500 more for the 335d than the 335i.

  • you don't really sacrifice performance with the diesel. a few tenths of a second extra to 60, and when you're already spending $40,000, what's another 3500?

bmw needs to bring over their other diesel models. the 123d has 204 horsepower and 300 lb/ft of torque, gets to 60 in 6.9 seconds, and gets 50 mpg. i think americans would be more interested in that than a 335d.

  • What's another $3500?? Haha with tax you're up another 10 percent on costs not to mention that is before you PRICE THE OPTIONS. There's a reason will choose a Japanese Luxury over German because it just happens to be that much cheaper. 335d sounds horrible and it is a second slower in the 0-60. On the Quarter mile it can't even keep up with the 335i. So yes you sacrifice more even when you pay extra. The public is so stupid for marketing tricks why is the coupe more expensive than a 4-door???

  • ok you're a moron. the japanese cars are just copies of mercedes and bmw in the first place. secondly, you forgot about the $1,800 tax credit you get each year for buying a diesel. so without even factoring in the fuel savings, the 335d pays for itself within 2 years over the 335i.

  • Look up the national average of disel vs. gasoline and you will see that throughout the year diesel prices will be 30-50 percent more than the price of gasolin. I'm an economics major. So don't argue with me on this one. PWN.

  • Of course diesel costs more, the US just has to build up its diesel infrastructure. Until now the US has only cared about diesel being used in large trucks.

  • No you are wrong. Diesel prices on average cost more than gasoline and especially during the cold months the price spikes higher than gasoline because of the need for heating oil which is processed similarly. So diesel users in the US are finding no benefits of buying these more expensive vehicles.

  • Diesel will find a way,if BMW believes it can so do I.

  • No BMW just believes in selling you cars that break down after 5 years hoping you will buy a new one soonafter. Scam.

  • Americans are too lazy to care for a BMW properly,so BMW has to implement lifetime fluids and minimum maintence to sell their cars. BMW's are overbuilt and you have a stick up your ass.

  • At the same time, Americans are too lazy to "care" for the Japanese counterparts... You don't find Toyota's, Nissan's, or Honda's breaking down as often. Don't get me wrong... I love BMW's but their reliability record isn't that great.

  • European cars are much more engaging overall, you sacrifice some reliability but that doesn't mean it isn't a quality product.

  • Leasing a BMW is like borrowing money to buy a Gucci bag or Rolex... Or worse yet, living in a million-dollar home when your salary is sub-100k.

  • youre being flaming pessimistic

  • BMW lease exists because professionals like lawyers, engineers and people running business know they can write off the lease as expense. You want to lease a stupid bored to drive Toyota Lexus or exciting cars like a BMW 3/5/M, Porsche 911 and Infiniti Gs. I am not bashing Japanese cars, people buy/lease exciting cars for a reason.

  • You pay for the fun of driving a BMW,the company that all other luxury car manufacturers struggle to match. I have yet to see an article or review in which a BMW is compared to another competitor,it is always the competition being compared to a BMW. I never bashed Lexus,Acura,or any other Japanese car maker,I work with Honda's and Toyota's and greatly appreciate their product.

  • @jogga123 bmw is a car i driven. amazing cars.

  • Realiability?? Wtf here in Europe the most reliable cars are the german ones!!!

  • @hauketo9292 That's not true for the American versions. Dunno why. I think a lot of times, Volkswagens and Audis are built in Mexico and not Germany.

  • Bullshit, i've seen E30s on the road, today!

  • @utahgs My BMW 330xi is 8 years old and has 203,592 miles on it and it still drives amazing. I put 900miles on it a week since I got it, and it has never failed me minus replacing a couple of light bulbs.

  • @ian441c

Great for you. But reliabilty rankings and consumer reports have shown that bmw ranks far lower than Lexus/Infiniti/ Jaguar/ Acura

  • Lexus , infiniti, those are cars you don't keep very long. In a BMW, I've seen owners love them after 20 years. You don't hear the same for others.

  • @jpdevlab that is what my wrx is off the line

  • @utahgs

but they are all in the top are they not?

  • @ApachyDaro 30 mpg at 120 mph

  • Oh and the Jetta is assembled in Mexico. That explains enough for me.

  • so it's assembled in Mexico. 70% of it is made in Germany. You think a bunch of wetbacks could design and engineer a clean burning diesel, muchless any kind of green sporty looking car???

  • There is no such thing as "clean" burning diesel. The fact that it emits slightly less emissions is not a miracle. Anything made in Mexico is even worse than what is made in China. End of discussion.

  • dumbass.. the clean diesel marketing has to do with the common soot problem that all diesels have. with the diesel particulate filters, there is no soot and smoke coming out the tail pipe.. it's NOT made in mexico, it's assembled. at a VW plant with german supervision. I already said that 70% of the Jetta TDI is made in Germany.

  • Excuse me but when you build a tree house you say "Hey, I made that." Not "Hey nature thanks for making my tree house." Just because parts are made in Germany doesn't meet the quality will be that way when it's put together in Mexico. Moron. VW is notorious for terrible quality, horrible customer satisfaction, and subpar in performance/safety/etc. VW is garbage I'd rather get a Honda/Toyota/Nissan than sink that low. LOL

  • Look at the latest Golf MK6 it was given the highest safety rating of any car tested in EURO NCAP. The Honda civic, one of the lowest.

  • they only came out with the 335d after Volkswagen's Jetta TDI came out with it first. And I get 50 MPG on mine..

  • There is no way in hell you get 50 mph on your Jetta. My friend has that one and not only is it very slow his average comes out to 38mpg and he doesn't have a lead foot when driving.

  • I average damn close to 47MPG on my Jetta. and the display for MPG is usually over 50MPG. Slow?? you're an idiot. Mine is quite quick and as soon as I get teh Diesel Power module put on it, it'sll have approx. 170HP and 286ft/lbs. of torque compared to the stock 236ft/lbs. I have now.

  • Yes it is slow I have sat in it and for every extra passenger it gets significantly worse and the handling is not impressive. There is a reason why it costs $22,000. It's garbage. You're better off with a 4 banger from any other car company than getting some VW that is a bitch to maintain.

  • it's not a damn race car you idiot. it's a sporty green car. and I don't have $45K for a BMW or a Audi A4. If I did then I'd get one.. I've had 4 people in my Jetta TDI and it's still quick. I don't know what the hell you're talking about.. I think you're just some Beemer fanboy that wants to rag on VW.. remember VW owns Audi, Seat, Skoda, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Bentley, and Porsche. That's far more influence than what BMW has...

  • K1LLJ3W5, VW does not own Porsche. Porsche is it's own independent company and owns about 31% of VW.

  • Car reviews have the TDI at 36 mpg city and 43 highway. Not to forget that for a majority of the calendar year, diesel is expected at an additional 30 percent cost than regular gasoline. I don't know anyone who cares to own a VW or BMW diesel for more than 10 years so the whole argument of longer lifetime is a load of crap to me.

  • man I don't know what to say to you... diesel is cheaper than regular unleaded where I am. obviously, you must be living on another planet where the economy is just great. people will be buying diesels due to the wear and tear they can take and the great MPG they are getting.. until VW or BWM comes out with a car that runs on HHO gas from high volume electrolysis of water, then diesel is the way I'm going....

  • 335i 0-60 4.9sec? lol...

  • Right now in Dallas Tx diesel is $2.08+ which is FINALLY cheaper than 87 octane(as it should be). I would love to trade my diesel truck for this car.

  • Bring the 335d Coupe, now that's a Car

  • Still wouldn't be as good as a 335i coupe. Not even close.

  • It's as beautifull as the 335i, maybe is 1 second slower but who cares, if you are saving money in a long run in the diesel and mileage, plus the torque it's probably much higher in the 335d then the 335i.

so i would get the 335d COUPE ;)

  • It's $3500 more for the 335d. So how long will does it take to save that money in fuel costs? Yea like 8 years to make up the difference. I went to a dealership to test drive the 335i and I told the dealer the diesel was a complete piece of junk and he had no rebuttle to costs, maintenance for the car.

  • That's pretty simple thing to solve, you buy the 335i and whenever i can afford one i will buy the 335d and we both be happy. :)

  • BMW 335d will pay back after 15 years. Here are Edmunds TOTAL costs of ownership estimates for 335i and 335d for 5 years:

    335i: $63,266

    335d: $62,023 ($20 per month of savings)

15 years to pay back :). The diesel is slower, heavier and less fun to drive, does not rev that nicely. It has more torque but at lower revs so it does not translate to any more power

Good luck to people who buy a BMW and sacrifice fun to save $20 per month :)

    335i: tinyurl(.)com(/)ml7uy3

    335d: tinyurl(.)com(/)lu4qzh

  • Makes more sense if they brought over the 320d and 325d.

  • Cost of premium gasoline 1.80/gallon

    Diesel- 2.30/gallon

BMW 330i (average claim 20 mpg)= 9 cents per mile

BMW 330D (average claim 30mpg)=7.7 cents per mile

330i is not only a second quicker on the 0-60 (5.0 sec versus 6.0 sec) but it is also $3500 cheaper.

    BMW=SCAM

  • Wrong.

    BMW 330i M Sport - £33k, 39.2 mpg, 0-60 6.1s

    BMW 330d M Sport - £30k, 46.3 mpg, 0-60 6.7s

    BMW 335d M Sport - £34k, 42.2 mpg, 0-60 6.0s

Whoever does your facts for you is clearly wrong. These came straight from BMW, and verified from Parkers and What Car.

  • 335i does 0-60 in 4.9 sec according to motortrend and car and driver. It is almost cheaper than the 335d. Much quicker, cheaper, better track performance. 335i>335d

  • 4.9 seconds? That is WAY off. Come on, that is the same as an M3!

In the real world there is very little that makes the 335i better. It drinks much more, and overtaking is easier in the diesel.

Obviously track performance in the petrol will be better, but these cars are built to be used on the road, and that is exactly where the 225d is better than the 335i.

  • 335i is 4,000 cheaper. Regardless, the 335i will do a maximum 5.1 0-60. Go look at motortrend and they claim in their road test the car does it in 4.9. 335i is easier to maintain and it sounds nice unlike the ugh-gu-gug-ug-ug- from a diesel. Oh and no smelly Urea in the petrol either. 335i>335d

  • That is impossible. Otherwise what is the point in the M3?

The lowest I can find is 5.6, and that is the coupe.

Sound? Modern diesels don't sound bad at all. And they sound better under acceleration. have you ever been in one? Really impressive.

They don't smell... this is not the Olds 350 diesel we are talking about!

Who cares about how easy it is to maintain, the dealership deals with that. Do it yourself and you void the warrenty. Plus diesel engines last longer than petrol engines.

  • The M3 does 0-60 in 4.3 seconds. The old M3 does it in 4.7 seconds. 5.6 is what you will get with a 330i. The 335i is so much quicker. The Urea does stink. It is Nitrogen based after all...

Luxury car owners don't keep their cars more than 8-10 years so the whole 350,000 mile lifetime for diesel engines is not a convincing one for a person to buy diesel.

Performance car news, top gear, caranddriver, edmunds...all report 0-60 times 5.0 sec or below for the 335i

  • you are an american. the american car industry has destroyed the american perception of diesel fuel.

the simple fact is that diesels now compete much more closely with petrol/gas cars in performance, and power. in fact, if they could rev to the same rpm, they would make significantly more power. they already make a lot more torque.

  • You realize it was only till recent that diesel came back to europe thanks to new technology. Regardless of which oil is not the answer in the future.

  • "Luxury car owners don't keep their cars more than 8-10 years so the whole 350,000 mile lifetime for diesel engines is not a convincing one for a person to buy diesel."

The fact they consider BMW only a luxury marque (unlike Europe) and not being concerned about long lasting reliability of at least 300,000 miles explains why they tend to be in debt.
