  • were was this at

  • hurricane you imbecile

  • It has a devil face all the way to the right at 1:03, 1:18, freaky!

  • @meshel2012 I know! i saw it too its sooooo weird!!!! and freaky

  • time to go inside lol

  • it could be a strong thunderstorm associated with onw the outermost bands

  • You people trying to sound educated actually sound dumb. When they say approach of hurricane gustav they mean probably the first rain bands. Which is still the hurricane approaching! I am from Louisiana born and raised, and went through Katrina and Gustav and it's not just instant bad weather like a tornado. It starts off with storms, then severe storms, then the actual hurricane, then some more rain and wind(light) but it's all part of the hurricane! Geeze

  • That's a thunderstorm not a hurricane!

  • hurricanes dont look like anything from the ground just a bunch of clouds.

  • dood.

    Thats a supercell thunderstorm.

    Not a Hurricane.

  • @100xines

approach of hurricane gustav can mean the outter rain bans IN WHICH THIS LOOKS LIKE AND PROBABLY IS

  • @wow1022 But as far as I know, Supercell Thunderstorms are not usually in the rainbands because of the missing shearing... I think this was just a HP supercell with a nice Shelfcloud. btw you see sth. like a whales mouth on 1.14.. Still awesome

  • Ever*

  • If u never lived through a freakin hurricane then u can say that is a hurricane coming.

Just because hurricane Gustav was a category 2 when it made landfall doesn't mean they had 115-130mph all over the whole storm!

    Think before your u type.

  • Not hurricane supercell two different things if it was a hurricane that hurricane would pwn you for video tapping it

  • They doing this just to get views KNOW DUH YOUTUBE VIEWERS YA ARE DUMB FOR VIEWING.I DIDN'T HAVE TO WATCH IT.CAUSE IT WAS A THUNDERSTORM THEY TRYING MAKE A BIG DEAL LIKES ITS A HURRICANE WOW. IDK IF U WRITE BACK I wont even read what u gonna write so y bother.

  • @dre8431 NO dummy they were not sure if it was a hurricane or or thunderstorm. ^ __^ and yeah i dont give a dang if you read it or not... another thing WHAT IF YOU WERE THEM!!! HUh? would you be scared????

i dont care if you read this or not

  • Shelf Cloud/ Gust front, nothing to do with a hurricane ;)

  • well if this hurricane gustav approaching this people wouldn't be outside due to the fact that the winds and water are at high speeds so to me this is a supercell that has developed from a thunderstorms moving in

  • that's called "a wall cloud" if you see that, yer gonna get clocked real soon

  • @mocus1 can i know what means clocked?because I'm from Serbia.

  • @Gregor100DJ Don't know if you have already been answered but clocked in the U.S. means to get hit hard by something. It's slang for punched, like drilled or nailed.

  • @ozabobododo thaks

  • "Warm Wet Doom approaching" Thats what you say to a hooker with aids!

  • Damn, talk about "Pirates of the Carribean: World's End".

  • when i saw that shit....i said holy mother of god...

  • that is deep cold front .

  • "warm, wet doom approaching." LOL sounds like my wedding night...

  • I don't know enough to say whether this is a front just before the hurricane or whether the hurricane prompted this front (if it's only a front). I see no signs of wind however.

  • Geeze!! i wish i lived in a place where storms like this happened all the time... I love storms!!! If i was offered a job where i could walk into the most severe storms and video tape i would be STOKED!!!!

  • @Crunkified2010 I used to live in florida where we had storms like this almost everyday, I sure miss the thrill every afternoon.

  • Hello ppl, that's how it looks before a hurricane approaches.

  • Amazing wallcloud!! Damn! Nice vid!

  • not a hurricane approaching. if this was there will be wind. this might have been a thunder storm before gustav. If there was a stalled front around or a warm, or cold front you will really be getting thunder storms.

  • @TreyOConner Did you not here the wind??

  • @xXInFaMoUsGamingXx thunder storms can have wind too!

  • what is that at :22

  • run?

  • wow that thing of thunderstorm is evoling very fast

  • the outer band im on vacation and got hit by the outer band of earl

  • Thats certainly not a hurricane otherwise it would be blowing and raining like heck!

  • Shelf Cloud...

  • I saw this video somewhere else! what a rip OFF!

    hurricaneforcast.info

  • okkk i t ihnk we need to go ... pussy

  • that is the weirdest thing ever.

  • Im ptretty shure that aint a hurricane looks more like an aproaching shelf cloud, and btw for ppl who say its gonna make a tornado it wont since wall clouds are at the ends of stroms while shelf clouds are the ones which are in the front of a storm

  • formation of wall clouds , tarnados where are ya

  • looks like a giant tornado cloud pretty freaky

  • That is definitely a shelf cloud, no doubt from a squall line. If that were a hurricane, you'd be feeling some strong winds way before that sucker came across.

  • That was one of the strong rain bands ahead of the storm.... Here on the northshore we went back home soon after the storm to check things out and clean things up and a heavy rain shower came through... When we were about to leave we looked north of our house and saw a dark ominous supercell like thunderstorm producing a tornado lol

  • This was a storm to practice the evacuation plan and test the flood control system

  • Meh.. Gustav wasn't nothin compared to Katrina.. Now i went through a living hell through Katrina..

  • ahh thats scary i mean im used to hurricanes and all living in louisiana but i guess its a good thing we evacuated 4 that hurricane

  • Wow, I agree with you. That is damn scary looking.

  • its here!!!

  • lol, she got scared...

  • Holy shit that's scary

  • You can see the greenish tint of the hail in it. Worst thing I ever saw was a supercell above my head before it let loose. Almost directly above me was a funnel cloud, smooth and solid in appearance, and wide open on the bottom so that I could look partially inside and up into it. THAT was something.

  • Man that looks like somethin from a movie

  • If I've been there when a hurricane approach I'd be running like crazy. I'm going through Tornado alley, and I hope we wouldn't get hit some nasty storms. But It would be cool to see one from a distant far away. Nice caught.

  • This was shot about half a block from our apartment, and not 20 seconds after the recording stops, a powerful spurt of heavy rain came down that lasted maybe a half an hour. Later that night, we had some wind, but nothing too bad where we were. People have NO business comparing this storm to Katrina.

  • @ntwchamps, that is called a rain band or squall.

  • its a big thunder storm or a tornado

  • No offense but if you see that then that means you pack up your precious belongings. Throw em in the car and get as far away as possible

  • RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!

  • Amazing!!! I never got to really see dat. I'm usually stuck in traffic somewhere.

  • I would like to ask ya'll calling it a super cell to define a hurricane.....basically works off the same principal...hurricanes bring hail and tornadoes....so before you so not think something is what they say....come move down here to louisiana and experience a few super cells and hurricanes...ya'll are such experts go work for NOAA......geeeeesh air headed dumb %$%$^^%$%!!!!!!

  • Why, its just a little ol' cloud

  • Charley coming into Orlando was scary like that too. Actually,,the eyewall was the scariest.

  • LOOK at 1:25

looks like from the movie, independence day.... lol ...just look at it.

  • Ahaha your right! The space ship XD

  • Exciting!

  • I just thought another video looked like the one that just came over my house but this describes it perfectly. I have got pictures of it. It was quite amazing.

  • thats called a super cell!

  • Thats not a hurricane, a hurricane doesn't look like that comming in... Its a supercell look it up. They are massive rotating thunderstorms that bring winds, hail, and tornados

  • I agree with you, hurricanes don't look like that. I studied meterology, that is a supercell thunderstorm.

  • that was a feeder ban coming off the hurricane. Hurricanes do produce supercells but the storms with hurricanes are typically much warmer then your run of the mill supercell thunderstorm so you dont find the hail that typically is associated with a storm of this nature. I remember this storm because i was watching the weather channels hurricane coverage of gustav when this rain ban rolled into new orleans.

  • @molonlave2010 I definately agree with you

  • @molonlave2010 read the description, FIRST WAVE

  • @molonlave2010 I agree as well.

  • @molonlave2010 . That is a rain band or outer squall. Certainly Hurricanes and tropical storms have super cells in the feeder bands that rotate into a hurricane and they look exactly like this. They can contain a lot of lightning or none, they can spawn weak F0,1, 2, & rarely 3 tornados and high straight line winds as they rapidly move through a area. Outer bands rapidly move and from high winds to calm and light overcast in minutes

  • @molonlave2010

Keep in mind that the outer bands of a hurricane may have embedded supercells. This one is particularly impressive.

  • that is a really scary huge cloud

  • holy shit do you guy wanna fucking die ???

  • Wow this is serious !

  • holy crap this is so cool

  • no thats not no gustav thats a nother storm type system...with a severe thunder storm coming threw...and forming tornadoes...

  • no i think it is hurricane gustav because only hurricanes have that curricular cloud base and that type of wind speed.

  • this looks more like a gust front from a severe thunderstorm.........

  • Ya... I was standing on the porch while the storm was coming in ( it was only tropical storm type conditions) then all of a sudden a 80 mph gust came through I was like HOLY SHIT this was in baton rouge by the way

  • When Gustav hit our area we had over 12 hours of category 1 strength winds. You could hear trees falling and transformers blowing up all night. Thank goodness we only had one oak tree down in our yard and it missed our house. Others weren't so lucky. Some friends of ours had over 10 trees down in their yard. When a tree was fixing to fall, you could see the roots bulging up through the ground. Quite frightening.

  • WOw thats scary.i live on longisland and i hope we dont experience any huge hurricanes like this...scary because we are long overdue for a huge one.=/

  • Wow we don't get hurricanes here in CA! Or any really bad storms like they do in the eastern US. I guess it's a good thing!

  • OMG!!! shouldn't they be underground by then? I've never been close to a hurricane and never hope to be as close as they were. That would literally scare me to death

  • Haha, you can't go underground in Louisiana. You would hit water within the first 5 feet, which is why they do not bury people in New Orleans because New Orleans is about 6 feet below sea level and the coffins would float to the top during a flood.

  • Gustav hit as a Tropical Storm in Arkansas, and caused a lot of damage there. I forgot how frightening it is to go through not just Gustav, but Ike as well with no power and sustained winds of 50+.

Not trying to take anything away from LA, because I saw the damage first hand when I went to Habitat for Humanity. That's when it all hit home. Not on Tv, not on telethons, not anything else until you see it in person.

  • oh wow!

  • guztav hit my hometown worse morgancity,la my town got hit worse

  • crazystupidperson777 We do have aca's here xD But The eye hit Ascension and Batonrouge. And some of livingston parish. I live in Ascension and after gustav our city looked just like NO after katrina :(

  • it hit stmary to thats ware i live

  • Amazing Video!!!

  • wow that is sooo cool

  • thats insane

  • Beautiful skys...,

  • was there a tornado?

  • yeah

we had one in baton rouge too

destroyed a lot of homes and made a lot of the city totally inaccessible for days

only killed two people though, but in my opinion that's 2 too many

  • funel cloud for a huricane i can hear the sirens going off in the back ground at the begining

  • there's no siren in Louisiana

  • yeah they have sirens in Louisiana

  • looks like something from Independence Day

  • OMG what the heak is that cloud

  • lol its funny seeing these people telling them to go inside. that is what it looks like about 12 hours before the bad stuff hits, i was in baton rouge for that hurricane working.

  • Why dont these pple leave they could get hurt even die

  • I live in louisiana, we have to deal with this shit every year no power no warm water god this sux

  • I love a good storm. If I could choose my job I would be a storm hunter.

  • Amen.

  • Amazing looking...

  • Y NOT GET IN THE DAYUM HOUSE?

  • those clouds look insane! I've never seen clouds like that!

Though I live pretty far inland in texas I don't experience hurricanes except maybe the excess rain, this is incrediable.

  • I see them all the time! They are the gust front of a thunderstorm, but these in particular seem quite terrifying.

  • hey look a hurricane lets stand in the middle of the street and tape it until it hits us

  • that looks like a wall cloud to me.

  • OMG! :O

  • hey look a hurricane lets stand in the middle of the street and tape it until it hits us!

  • ok .. i think we need to go .. roflmao , maybe u could show as a bit more lol

  • hmm... maybe leave? :P

  • Incredible!

  • where in the french quarter was that???

  • omg, its coming in fast

  • jezz, it was coming in fast

  • if i was u get the heck out of there

  • that looks more like a supercell.

  • that looks so frikin cool!!

  • yea, it all looks cool, but you might wanna be glad you werent in the middle of the hurricane like i was.

  • Wow, fabulous. I stayed, thankfully, but I was in a house with built-in storm windows. Now I'm even more glad about those windows!

  • good thing! because this storm was pretty weak!

  • ha,look at the light pole turn on at 1:29 ,weird

  • PING!

  • Spooky, but can a hurricane eye suck up things from the earth??

  • the eye is totally calm

  • its a un-concentrated tornado!

  • gustav was nothing compared to katrina...i stood outside for most of gustav...i live in biloxi and stayed for katrina...i stood outside taking pictures of the clouds coming in and stuff...really cool stuff..i guess us down here in louisiana and mississippi just weren't really scared of gustav

  • lol

  • down here in prairieville it was like a zombie film streets were empty military rollin down the road and people begging for food and MREs

  • AWESOME! Great shot!

  • 1: the street lamp comes on as it gets dark.....

  • Type in - The day New Orleans Stood Still

  • It was much worse here in Baton Rouge

  • We live across the lake in Mandeville. The worst we had was a lot of wind and no electricity for two days. Other than that, we got off easy.

  • hahahah. In the end. Shit I would of pissed my pants if I were in that situation. I dont think I would stand outside filming an oncoming hurricane.

  • Is that in Jackson square?

  • Thanks 4 recording this

  • What ended up happening? Was there a tornado?

  • want to chat with singles

  • HOW ABOUT KEEPING THE CAMERA STILL!!!

  • Looks like Gozer the Gozerian is coming.

  • o, yea... I can destroy these monsters...

and want to make my discovering in practice...

  • You were near the "heart" of the action. We were in Gonzales and Sorrento during the worst part of it. I recorded winds of 100 MPH and gust of 120-140 during the height of the storm.

  • I can destroy these monsters...

and want to make my discovering in practice...

  • why did yall stay yall saw what katrina did

  • I have a fascination with hurricanes & you did such a good job capturing that! It's not called the "stadium effect" for nothing! That was awesome!

  • its... beautiful

  • You captured it brilliantly ! Must have been scary

  • could u keep the camera in one fricken spot!

  • and they just stand there going "oh shit" lol damnit go inside or start swimin

  • i feel so sad for the people who got hit by katrina and just got finished cleaning up and now the just got gustav the second most violent hurricane its so sad this comment is dedicate to everyone who got hit by katrina and gustav

  • oh... and thats nothing because really wait till U see all the other ones that are coming... I think New Orleans and Others are going to be under water one day...

  • thats fucken crazy

  • Run, you fools

  • did you stay or did you move from that town?

  • it looked bad like that in Mobile, Al as well.

  • I'd be like,"Lol oh shit."

  • awesome footage..here in Florida tho when a storm runs through we are like 'again, really?' whats really bad is that it slams the coastal parts of the state which is where it is the worst. people more inland are like 'hurricane party?'

we are pretty bad when it comes to that

  • yip. tink u need to go too ting looks freakingly weird and scary.

  • um run
