@mtalmilitia From one axeman to another: the best thing you can do is go and try them both out. Personally, I own The Crybaby From Hell due to my love of him and the kind of metal I do. Usually places like Guitar Center will allow you to try before you buy (Mine did) and I made my choice of Dimes because of his specs. Not putting down the Zakk Wylde cos I am a big fan of both. Never ask for advice here cos it is mostly biased. Try it for yourself and decide which you think is better. Ciao.
@ETFgotk24 just try both of them out, and which ever one appeals to you the most buy it. If you really can't decide, and you've got a bit of money on you, buy both of them i guess. hope that helped.
@coolkid1095 There is debate whether he used a Crybaby Original or a VOX V847... Historically he used a Crybaby from the 70's... the new Crybaby Original doesn't sound like the 70's model. That is why people use the VOX V847 because it sounds like the wah Randy had. But its your choice, so listen to both and see which one to you screams RANDY RHOADS.
out of all the wah pedals by dunlop, is this wah pedal better than kirk hamments wah? I play metal so zakk and kirk are two huge influences for me, but im not sure which one to get, help!!!!
Play those types of chord formations and pick them accordingly. It can be done anywhere on the neck, the last chord is usually a major chord (and it sounds good to play the full open chord or barre chord).
hey, need some help wit my zakk wylde crybaby. damn, its freakin noisy once switched on. heck, the clicking of the switch on the wah is amplified thru the pedal everytime i step to turn it on. anything i can do to solve this?
Not trying to sound like a dick here but this isn't how THIS wah pedal is meant to be used. Zakk Wylde puts something in the pedal area so its always toe down, he said it in an interview.
guys, jz got the pedal. one question, when i depress it heel down, the volume of my guitar kinda like dropa lil n the tone got like turned down alot and its harder to pull of squealies. is this normal??
should i get this the dime or the kirk wah? i thinking about this one but but i mostly play thrash/death metal and i want the most badass one that dunlop makes
Fuck Metallica up the ass, sellout greedy fucks they should have stopped after ...and justice. This pedal works perfectly if you know how to use a wah, all your tone doesn't just come from your equipment, it takes skill. This is a perfect pedal for professionals and amateurs can go stick your fenders up your asses and learn to handle your instruments and adjust your effects.
I would just like to say that your demos are by far the most useful on YouTube and they are surprisingly accurate. Thanks to your vids I was able to compare the wah pedals that I was considering and in the end I went for this one. Thanks for the help.
Ive had this Wah Pedal for over 2 years now, and to be honest its the best Wah pedal ive ever used.. £100 when i got it and i dont regret it.. After my gigs ive had people come up to me and ask "wow what Wah Pedal are you using?" "How did you get that sound?" Also i think the best compliment ive had was "you sound like Zakk Wylde" which to me is a huge compliment.. There reliable and road worthy.. To me this is the best Wah pedal out there! I recommend highly to anyone thinking about a Wah
I love the reviews you guys post -- direct to the point and don't compare equipment you are biased for/against with others! Same guitar, same settings -- simply turn it on and off and this is what you get. Going to pick up myself one of these ZW-45's.
@chillernz dimebag!!!!!!!!!!! I played a zakk cry baby back in July and dude it sucked a lot, I was playing a gibson les paul standard thru a marshall MA 100 stack :O (I know ,, the MA series suck) ANYWAYS get the dimebag wah trust me :D!
@nurazizanwazir: I don't think of wah when I think of EVH...but I know the pricetag steered me away...never actually tried it or heard to many good reviews on it. Which brings me on to the Zakk Wylde wah...I was lucky enough to get it at guitar center on sale for $109.99...and I use it everyday over the dimewah...no knobs no adjustments...just good old wah sound. Very basic solid cast-iron look. It is great for the deep throaty vocal wah sound...you could say it could get close to Jerry Cantrell
@nurazizanwazir: Alright heres my piece: I used to own the Slash wah...and the built in distortion circuit was useless...just created a bunch of white noise...$169.00 for a wah that might be decent for classic rock but for metal...just didn't really cut it. I traded my slash wah for a dimebag crybaby from hell...I think these go for $149.99...you have a variable q knob...but the problem is you either lose the wah sweep at the top...or the bottom depending on how you set it....
@Bertziethegreat That's a pretty good tactic, because that way novice guitarists will discover that the famed original crybaby is actually a piece of shit wah thats too weak to cut through distortion, or any mix for that matter, as I found out a while ago
hey guys im after a wah thats good for higain stuff. i got a hendrix wah nbeen using a 535q. can anybody help me out?? i want something fairly smooth sounding
Can anyone help me? I can't decide between the Zakk Wylde wah or the classic cry baby wah, I like metal and other stuff RCHP,rage, dream theater metallica etc. so i have pretty broadened style, but I can't decide between the two, Im not too fond of signature models too cause I like to make my own sounds but this wah sounds really really awesome too and love the sound but im stuck, any help?
The one that's $69.95/99 at Guitar Center classic wah, right? You can NOT go wrong with it, it goes well with punk, grunge, alt. metal, heavy metal, BUT, be warned; It will ALWAYS give the same tone that CANNOT be changed. I have one, love it, but you may want to upgrade at some point in the future. Check out the Dunlop JC95. It sounds like something you may be interested in.
@nurazizanwazir Well it depends on what style you're playing. I've used all of those wah's. I didnt really like the dimebag one, bit too thick on the toe down posistion. If your solo's are metally and faster get kirks. If they are metally but you need less bite zakk's is the way to go. Slash's is great for classic rock solos. I used to use the evh wah cos the range was just rite for me. Now i use the vox big bad wah which is great to get your own wah sound. Hope i helped
@nurazizanwazir: Well, THe Kirk Hammet Wah has tru bypass so it doesn't suck your tone and it sounds very wahish and thick. But it doesn't have any nobs so you're stuck with the same wah sound.
@beaskate It depends, of what do you want to play. I own wylde signature wah, and i want to change it to GCB-95.Wylde wah is good to metal, but i like to play some funky things on clean channel and GCB-95 for this is better in my opinion. Wylde wah have also a booster(i think so), becouse it makes your clean channel louder and a little bit dirty. I don't like it very much. You should try a Dimebag Darrel signature wah to metal. In my opinion it will be better
I own this pedal! It´s kinda sweet but it doesn´t sound very good with totaly clean tone...But it´s freakin´ sweet to play metal with...And no Stillborn? :O
i have a behringer hell babe got it for 50 euros. its pretty good regarding the price but i want to get a better wah i am between the slash crybaby and this one. i would certainly get that if it had more stuff to mess around with like the slash one. i havent heard a lot of good stuff about the slash crybaby.i am not sure though
ok, so my current setup is Amp>Boss MT-2 Metal Zone>Zakk Wylde Overdrive>Boss CS-2 Compressor Sustainer> Ibanez 7 String. If I were to get a Wah, where would I put it?
guitar-wah-od/dist (or both in this order)-filters effect(like phaser, chorus, flanger ecc...)- delay/reverb (or both)- amp
This is the "right" way, there isn't a correct one, but this one is the most used, look at the gear of different pro-guitar players if you don't believe me ;)
And if you want i can explain why the setup should be this, but here it takes too long
@jb1563700 Depends on what sound you're going for, sounds very different if placed after drive/distortion than before for example. There's no *right* place to put it. Experiment!
@jb1563700 i no, wen i put my zw45 after my mxr fullbore metal it sounds super tinny, even if its less pronounced as an effect in front of the distortion its still awsum :D
@Matt6Ran95 lol its pretty sad if thats all you got out of the video. i got out that the sweep and tonechracteristics, of this pedal has been fine tuned by zakk wylde himself. its designed to give you a more throaty tone, and plenty of high end grit to cut through the mix. dont belive me? look at 0:49 lol just kidding but really, look
Sorry if i posted this twice but i just wanna make sure i left a comment! Ok well i got this pedal 4 days ago, and the thing sounds amazing in a clean setting but when i turn on my boss metal zone pedal for distortion, its like the wah its the same range as the clean setting, anybody know how i can get this thing to be amazing with the distortion besides using my distortion channel on my amp.
@ShadowOfDeth1 No. Time based and modulation effects should come last actually. If you have a delay in front of your distortion you're putting distortion on your delay...rather than just using delay on your whole tone.
Thumbs up if you just typed in "wah" and this is where it brought you..

I own this pedal! It´s kinda sweet but it doesn´t sound very good with totaly clean tone...But it´s freakin´ sweet to play metal with...And no Stillborn? :O

fannyslapper33 2 years ago 3
I have this wah, it's amazing. Except I haven't gotten to use it in a while since one of my cables shorted out :(
comeontrytopkme 2 years ago
ok, so my current setup is Amp>Boss MT-2 Metal Zone>Zakk Wylde Overdrive>Boss CS-2 Compressor Sustainer> Ibanez 7 String. If I were to get a Wah, where would I put it?
FlamingHippoFilms 2 years ago
guitar-wah-od/dist (or both in this order)-filters effect(like phaser, chorus, flanger ecc...)- delay/reverb (or both)- amp
This is the "right" way, there isn't a correct one, but this one is the most used, look at the gear of different pro-guitar players if you don't believe me ;)
And if you want i can explain why the setup should be this, but here it takes too long

Always put a wah right after the guitar.
jb1563700 2 years ago 72
true true, or else it gets really twangy
nwilson59 2 years ago
@jb1563700 Hendrix's setup was Guitar-fuzz-wah-amp
skeletorvsheman 1 year ago
@jb1563700 i don't about that man i always put it right after all my other dynamics base pedals to get more vocal like tones
headbagger63 1 year ago
@jb1563700 Depends on what sound you're going for, sounds very different if placed after drive/distortion than before for example. There's no *right* place to put it. Experiment!
frankcassata 1 year ago
@jb1563700 not always u have to put a tuner before
davay1 1 year ago
@jb1563700 I find i like the MXR EVH Phase 90 Before the Wah...its it a different sound.
CommBreakDown 1 year ago
@jb1563700 i no, wen i put my zw45 after my mxr fullbore metal it sounds super tinny, even if its less pronounced as an effect in front of the distortion its still awsum :D
satansskidmarks 1 year ago
@jb1563700 Exactly! Never before the guitar ;) (I know what you meant :P )

sweet shoes my ass! converse are the way to go! :D :D :D and this wah pedal is awesome. AMAZINGLY AWESOME!!!
Matt6Ran95 2 years ago 21
@Matt6Ran95 lol its pretty sad if thats all you got out of the video. i got out that the sweep and tonechracteristics, of this pedal has been fine tuned by zakk wylde himself. its designed to give you a more throaty tone, and plenty of high end grit to cut through the mix. dont belive me? look at 0:49 lol just kidding but really, look
screamodrummer1234 1 year ago
Sorry if i posted this twice but i just wanna make sure i left a comment! Ok well i got this pedal 4 days ago, and the thing sounds amazing in a clean setting but when i turn on my boss metal zone pedal for distortion, its like the wah its the same range as the clean setting, anybody know how i can get this thing to be amazing with the distortion besides using my distortion channel on my amp.
WyldeProdigy 2 years ago
@WyldeProdigy
Are you putting your distortion before your wah in your rig?
AwesomeBuddy12 2 years ago 3
woa thx alot i've been figuring out for a year with just the classic wah pedal AwesomeBuddy12 you are my hero!
Playlistamac 2 years ago
go guitar > dist > wah > amp
sichadeb 2 years ago
uh no Amp > Tuner > Distortion/overdrive > Reverbs/delays > pahsers,chorus,flanger etc > wah > guitar
ShadowOfDeth1 2 years ago
@ShadowOfDeth1 No. Time based and modulation effects should come last actually. If you have a delay in front of your distortion you're putting distortion on your delay...rather than just using delay on your whole tone.
Botdra 2 years ago
It's a good rule of the thumb to place your wah before your distortion. Otherwise it sounds kind of "quacky" like a duck.
doctorgone 2 years ago
@ WyldeProdigy
You have to put the wah in front of the distortion pedal in the effect chain.
