I think that bluesmen are like a fine wine, they get better with age, John Lee Hooker and BB King are examples of that and since this was later I find that it was a much better version than the original even. Also does anyone know if that is actually him playing the solo or if is another musician backing him?

Its great that bands like Clutch take some inspiration from classic music like this and release it is amazing new ways. We need more bands like Clutch that go back to the roots of music to make a great sound.
Covered this instrumental, and met these guys in 1961,they were really a great bunch of guys, and yes,a lot of groups got shafted back in those days.Sincerely,The Chevelles,The Echoes.
Dudes, you can't steel blues music. How do you think music evolves? Ok, you can rip lyrics off. But even than, who are you fooling? The fact is, JLH was a great musician, he was inspired by greats, and inspired many more to come. Includin Hendrix.
i wouldn't call it rip off. Billy Gibbons is inspired by the old southern bluesmen like JLH. He didn't steal it, he just used the "a haw haw haw" part.
Thought about this and I concede your point. Started digging deeper into other songs and even the classic blues players "stole" or used terms or ideas from one another and admitted to it. I don't think Billy ever acknowledge that he did the same.
Man, loads of blues is just imitation! It's what makes it so good , one guy makes a riff or a few lyrics up then another guy takes it and changes it a little bit and makes it his own and so on :D Jimi hendrix often including 'rollin' and tumblin', cryed the whole night long' in catfish blues and that line is originally Robert Johnsons, it's not like he's stealing it, he's just honouring the original masters.
wait a minute booker t and the mgs used the same riff two years befor johnny lee hooker ,,,,, its three chords made from a pentatonic scale ,,its like saying he stole the color red .
@alperenaaa The song was written in 1961 so I'm sorry to tell you your grandfather is slightly wrong... this recording is from 1992, it was redone because the original recording was him sitting on a chair playing it in really bad 1960's TV quality.
mr hooker will be there forever lets hope they all get to hear this man ....blues at the beginning well......close to the beginning ask the cave man on his hut roof or as he dragged his woman from hut to hut......long live the hooker mr
