I first saw this movie when I was in college, and I still love it to this day. When I heard the James Cameron was going to be making a film out of this, I was excited to say the least. There are many anime series that should be made into films, but this one is the best candidate.
The american remakes of some asian movie, ova, anime or manga is ALWAYS a complete disappointment, the story is changed also the characters. For example Jian Gui (The Eye), ชัตเตอร์ กดติดวิญญาณ (Shutter), Ringu (The Ring), Dark Water (Dark Water) and the worst remake Chakushin Ari (One Missed Call).
So it's a fact that James Cameron will ruin this awesome piece of art.

He was influenced by Nausicaa and Mononoke for Avatar just like The Matrix was by Ghost in The Shell, Akira, Fist of the North Star and Ninja Scroll.
I really hope Cameron makes this movie. I have the urge to start making my own animated battle angle alita, but i have no knowledge on how to even begin. this is the first manga i ever read and in my opinion, the ultimate.

@FinkFinx eeh it's so so, there's some good fight scenes with ALITA killing some people pretty good. This is a slightly older anime, it's nothing like ELFEN LIED maybe more like....aah I just don't know. This anime isn't ALL about violence though, there's ALOT of story in it. They skip all around with hugo and the bounty hunters.... And it's either these voice actors or the script but you just don't feel as drawn to this as the manga. still nice to see they got the anime up!

@Kienzle16 He'd better spend as much money on BAA as he did on Avatar. Avatar was all eye-candy and low on a story, but BAA has more of a story that Avatar. @FinkFinx It's not a full anime, there's only a couple episodes, it's just based off of a 9 volume manga series; the manga is really violent though.

@FinkFinx eeh it's so so, there's some good fight scenes with ALITA killing some people pretty good. This is a slightly older anime, it's nothing like ELFEN LIED maybe more like....aah I just don't know. This anime isn't ALL about violence though, there's ALOT of story in it. But when she has to fight she does kill the fuck out of them. Maybe like uuuuhhhhh Ghost in the Shell ??

I can honestly say I watched this for the anime not because James Cameron decided to make a movie. Whoopy doo about American film makers wanting to remake classic animes. They should really leave well enough alone.

@MrPhukyou Animes? What is that? are you talking about Anime (you do not add an S wen talking about more than one.) As for leaving well enough alone. If that was the case we not have the anime you see today, because the style you see there was taken from classic American cartoons. An So if manga artist did not barrow a cartoon style from America there have not been anime that looks like this. SO I say everything is fair game, if you think you can do better than by all means try to do so.

@Darkphoenix3450 Sure, but come up with something original not remake something that is already perfect the way it is. Generally, the remake is worse than the original. Besides, it's all about money, it has nothing to do with the art of it. It's "how much money can I squeeze out of this"

@MrPhukyou True enough. But the Concept of this show it self is not really new. I happen to know a 80's Tv show from America, that this anime look strikingly similar to. In plot, and story. But androids and humans with robot parts was a big hit in America during the early 80's late 70's

They skip all around with hugo and the bounty hunters.... And it's either these voice actors or the script but you just don't feel as drawn to this as the manga. still nice to see they got the anime up!

@RoyalDog214 Just because he makes money doesn't mean he is smart. There is no direct correlation between intelligence and income. Justin Beiber makes an annual 7 million dollars while Harvard and MIT presidents make half a million a year. James Cameron isn't a genius he is just a very lucky individual who people loved to listen to. Don't get me wrong it does take some intelligence to get to where he is but he definitely isn't a genius.

@Kienzle16 He'd better spend as much money on BAA as he did on Avatar. Avatar was all eye-candy and low on a story, but BAA has more of a story that Avatar. If he can deliver the eye-candy effects with delivering the story of Battle Angel Alita, then he'll have yet-another billion-dollar hit on his hands. Not to mention my theater ticket money. But something tells me that it'll be a disappointment, like most anime-turned-live-action movies.

as long JC stick with the original story everiting will be 100% ok, i was kinda surpriced with the pg 13 ranting of the movie but, with the good story and acting, it will be fine.
