  • @JeffersonDinedAlone I count the days when some of the generation who follows you will lambast your tastes. Those who can see beyond their own nose (and appreciate beyond their own generation's tastes) have an expanded appreciation and richness -- something your ridiculously over-the-top venom can't boast. Your pathetic myopia is only exceeded by the stench of your needlessly foul wordsmithing.

  • @JeffersonDinedAlone

And what do you consider good music now? Rap? At least it has a nice melody that you can remember five minutes after it ends. Today's music stinks in my opinion, and I haven't heard anything good since the mid '80s. I have a wide range of musical interests, from classical, jazz, oldies to classic rock, and it's all many times better than the garbage played today.

  • @dgoren121692 A step in the right direction from the comment you are responding too, but still ignorant and self asserted. There is plenty of good music to be found in my opinion if you look past the main stream and take a look at some of the lesser known things. While I enjoy all of the genres you have listed, and generally dislike most rap, I cannot agree that the music of today is wholly garbage. Maybe a large majority of it, but not all of it.

  • @fault3k

I'm not ignorant just because I don't like today's music. It was a general statement. I haven't heard every song written in the last few years, but I simply can't think of too many songs in the last 20 years that I think are very good, that's all. I'm sure there are some exceptions here and there. If you have found songs you like, that's good, because music is a great thing. I'm sure we can agree that different people have different tastes, that's all.

  • @dgoren121692 I missed the part where you said it was your opinion. My apologies.

  • @fault3k

That's okay. My first message was a little strong.

  • @dgoren121692 You are kind and reasonable. I like this. I would be happy to trade music with you some time.

  • Entertaining,drug-sex-dirt-free clean tv from yesterday...... A little silly sometimes, but sweetly naiv!

  • thank you donny and marie for a wonderful childhood that I spent listening to you..

  • wow im surprised hes not moving his head like crazy like he does in other songs.

  • can someone explain to me what the hell a "deep Purple Fog" is?????

  • @howardkevinm

It's not "Deep Purple Fog" ... the line is "When the deep purple falls ... over sleepy garden walls ..."

as in, when the sky can sometimes turn a deep purple just before it turns black at sunset

  • Back then it was considered ok for men to make pervy comments to young girls.

  • looove this song;) they sang it beautifully:) i've heard the original song also I don't remember the original artist who sang this song:) love it:)

  • That was a lovely tribute to previous artists' performances. It takes nothing away from Nino Tempo and April Stevens, or anyone else who ever recorded Deep Purple... and the Osmonds all have beautiful voices suitable for harmonizing with Andy Williams' fabulous tenor voice. (He started out with HIS brothers in a family barbershop quartet, too.) I LOVE THIS!

  • I grew up watching these 2.

I forget which one was a little bit country and which one was a little bit rock n roll.

  • @nosajj12345 After Donny and Marie's recent (separate season) top dancing to a diapaison of the world's and USA's best loved musical and dance styles (ex.: swing, Marie's Andrews Sisters homage) ... they're each All of the above !

  • It takes the whole family and Andy to REALLY fuck this one up.

  • Marie was only like 14 or 15 here. Andy Williams is a bit pervy.

  • They burned down the gambin house, it died with an awful sound.

  • I love this song

  • The years have not been too kind. Now Merril looks like Uncle Remus, or a Keebler elf.

  • ahhhhhh, just beautiful!

  • Is it true that Deep Purple was on top of the US charts during the month of November in 1963?

  • @Nguli34689 Look it up; you're on a computer. See how simple that was?

  • @cosg9531 yes

  • some people are just jealous they can't sing and don't have a wonderful, close, family to do fun activities with

  • @QueenBeatlesWings Wow. Smug much?

  • this is a great video :) do you have any more videos from this show?

  • Such wonderful memories of my childhood, my sister and I LOVED Donny and Marie (we still do)

They are everything sweet and true and lovely that is missing from the entertainment world today.

Thank you Donny and Marie for all you have given us, I love you

    S

  • Beautiful music, beautiful people mainly Donny, beautiful purple memories of my teen years.

  • okay, I totally didn't grow up in this time period but i love this song anyways!

  • I instantly fell in love with Marie after seeing this when I was a kid... ((sighMarie))

  • I loved this show as a kid and just saw them on B'way in their X'mas show - fans will love it!

  • Why cant people just enjoy the beautiful sounds and lovely memories of a happy time instead of carping about trivialities. This takes me back to great times and youthful innocence.

  • Donny was so gorgeous, and he still is of course, no one ever will compare.

  • April Stevens spoken part sounds more romantic than Marie's voice.

  • biggest mistake of my life - why did'nt i marry marie !!!! bill

  • awwwwh 3:34 to the end their so cute =) and the brothers int he bg with Andy hahah so funny =) love them!<3

  • Is she 18 here?

  • @LilShorty5050 She was actually 14 years old, Donny and Marie are the only ones in tv history to have been the youngest co-hosts of a variety show back in the 70s, no-one has matched it since then. Just goes to show how talented this family are, just look at their children today, have been blessed with the same performing genes.

  • Marie looks like a Stepford Wife

  • Not bad, but Donny is no match for Nino.

  • Marie Osmond is so gorgeous! WOW......that's all I wanted to say........Wait!, I think I'll say it just one more time. Marie Osmond is so gorgeous!

  • ht #8 AC, #14 pop, in Billboard. God bless!

  • Somewhat corny, but it sure beats the hell out of the nonsense people call music today. Only thing I found strange about The Osmonds is they seem to have become very successful, but I don't remember hearing many of their songs on the radio, and for some reason their voices sound good but very generic

  • @BlogShag Are you kidding? Generic??? WHO harmonizes like this today, or frankly, since the Osmonds came on the scene in the late 60's? Nobody, anywhere! Voices like these have not been duplicated since this family in over fifty years! The Beatles were great, the Jackson's were great, but go back and look at their performances - they don't even come close to the dancing, music, instruments, pure, raw talent these kids have exhibited for five decades. Osmonds reign!!!!

  • The band Deep Purple got their name from the original. True story.

  • More upbeat and a commendable cover of the original Nino Tempo & April Stevens version. Gotta give credit to where it's due.

  • @nnsor

NO. I strongly disagree. I think Donnie & Marie are fab, and they did a great cover

BUT Nino and April OWN this song!

  • great talent and a great family

  • May sound corny but this was back when tv was actually entertaining and interesting.

  • @char4him99 If the truth is "corny", I will take corny any day. I am only 38, but I still remember a lot of 70's TV. Personally I think it was a "golden age". Just look at all the great shows/programs & especially sitcoms from the decade! I miss "variety shows". Carol Burnett show. American Idol, & America has talent, & what ever that damn show is called.....they aren't really the same as variety shows. I really miss the 70's/early 80's. TV & most "music" (HA!) today is all BS & garbage.

  • @gjc82071 Yeah it was just great wasn't it?? I live on youtube because of this kind of music. and you can see alot of Carol Burnett, Johnny Carson, etc. out here.

  • @char4him99 haven't you seen top gear???

  • @char4him99 AMEN to that!

  • @char4him99 Corny my left foot! Goes to show how people's tastes degrade to filth today. It was great back THEN, it sure as hell is great TODAY!! Dig it?

  • bigot. It is called ACTING. Galah

  • hey asshole don't diss the Osmonds!

  • actually i am not mormon. but i love the Osmonds.

  • what month was this taped?

  • I remember seeing this on tv when it aired. So glad it was posted here.

  • what show was it? and when was it taped or aired?

  • Beautiful Song, Beautiful Singers-- and a few ignorant and crappy comments to spoil it all !

  • gee...such a clever name: Princess Shitty Bottom. speaks volumes, it does.

  • one of my favourite songs, thanks for posting

  • Do you enjoy Donlyn Osmond?

  • You just don't recognize a loving family. you poor thing. what warped you?

  • over 8,000 videos watched since july, the sign of a person with a lot of time on one's hands, right princess shittybottom. Unemployment is tough.

  • The song is great but the audios terriable

  • Love this song!

  • i love this, have you got the rest of it?

  • was this from the Andy Williams Show or the Donny and Marie Show?

  • LOL @ 3:34 ... that was cute!

  • cool video

  • what year and month is this?

thanks for posting, it's good to see the brothers and donny and marie singing with andy williams.

  • Donnie and Marie's version BY FAR better!!!!!!

  • The Harmonies are beuitful,Donny & Marie @ thier Peak! thank's for the Memories!!!

  • This is lovely. thanks

  • I love going down memory lane. My teenage years spent having a crush on Donny.

  • Isn't Marie just the woman you'd want to marry!?!? I know I would...

  • ...in the midst of a memory...

  • ...so much pain and yet such a wonderful girl with so many lovely children...

  • It was Andy Williams that gave the four older Osmonds their big break by featuring them regularly on his variety show back in the 60's.

  • What show is this from? I don't remember this from the episode Andy was on. Cool!

  • This is from an Andy Williams TV Special w/the Osmonds as guests.

  • Wow. I love this.

Jay asks: "Andy, isn't Marie really pretty now that she's grown up?" Andy says: "You shut up and sing!"

Andy always struck me as a bit of a letch.

But, in the end, Marie's Osmond Brothers come to the rescue and she sings with the brother whom she tagged along with all those years.

  • From Anna,

Hi Dlwuggs, If this was on D & M I don't remember it. Interesting twist from Andy and the brothers though.

    Your friend,

    Anna

  • was this on the donny and marie show?

  • i hav no idea lol it probably is

  • @sprattel probably the andy williams show

  • absolutaly amazing thank you for posting
