Dartman... Really. It was an act to a certain point. He was a terrible alcoholic and everybody knew it. He played the bit well in public to make light of his problem. Foster brooks drunk gag was done for laughs. Dean was a lush plain and simple. And i still LOVE the shmuck regardless.

@elfranko81 Everyone knew that Dean drank, and while he was often buzzed he was never blitzed. All you have to do is do a search on google or bing and you can read his bio. He played it up, but he wasn't a lush.

Great roast. But I hate the way they were filmed. Every joke was broken up by a cutaway of 3 different people laughing. A little over the top. Ehh I'm being particular today.

Lucy and Desi should have stayed together, such a shame that they broke up, i always wanted my marriage to be like lucy and ricky, except without the divorce lol, i love the show and iv seen every single episode, cant wait for I Love Lucy Live on Stage!

Actually Dean was very good at *pretending* he was trashed on TV. Most of the time he was drinking water or tea. That was part of his act (like Foster Brooks)

@samramirez12 , I agree Desi was a lot better then her current husband at the time Gary. Desi was smart and did a lot for the early days of TV He developed the multiple-camera setup production style using adjacent sets that became the standard for all subsequent situation comedies to this day. plus Filming with a Studio audience, which he was told was impossible to allow an audience onto a sound stage. but he worked it out and succeded.

For some reason I think the Desi jokes are in bad taste since Lucy and Desi got divorced. It was obvious that they loved each other, you can tell that from Lucie Arnaz home movies, but couldn't stay married. To make fun of her current (for then) husband would be one thing but not the jokes about Desi.
