  • Yeah, I can understand if you were a kid in the '90s who only had a Game boy or not any of the home consoles (e.g. SNES, Mega Drive) to play SFII on, but I could only see the Game Boy SFII as being a collector's item.

  • @guittarman, if you have a Super Game Boy you can also play the game in 2 Player.

  • Oh god that's horrible!

  • Fuck yeah!

  • can you do 2 player on the game boy?

  • @guittarman7 Yeah, but you need a cable to connect the two GBs.

  • @stanupkal follow my file to win a new wii u! or 1 million dollars! or a pswii60! or an iphone! or a backscratcher! or a free trip to japan! or my booger! or a piece of paper! yeah not gunna happen! (do u still want that booger?)

  • now this needs to be on the 3ds virtual console

  • After all these years, that caged chicken on Chun Li's stage is finally dead.

  • Man, if I had this game back at that time, I would have lost my shit. It looks better than I thought at the time.

  • Great graphics, poor framerate and SGB color usage.

  • OMG did I actually see Guile's jumping HP, standing HP, sonic boom combo at 3:30?!?!?

  • InecomCompany mains chun li XD

  • This reminds me of my first game handheld, street fighter 2 tiger handheld hahaha

  • please come to Eshop even though there already is ssf4 3d this would be epic

  • LOL just play the snes version

  • or you could get super street fighter 4 for the 3DS. :3

  • This is gross.

  • @sonicadx Lol because I have super street fighter 4 3DS and this looks really strange compared to it,

  • @TheMetalGearSolid3 you musnt be a classic gamer then. :\

  • @sonicadx lol I am but when I look back at this game I don't like it.

  • wow. music to my ears

  • turbo revival on the advance was awesome

  • you sent me here from the future!!!

  • so much prefered gameboy color and gameboy advance, didn't MIND the DS Lite

Regular DS, DS XLI blah, and 3ds, don't like, Never rly got into mobile gaming since Color unfortunitly lol

  • King of Fighter 95 for the gameboy was also more enjoyable.

Very fast paced, and combos are really easy to pull off.

  • We can also consider that in the game boy is also one other particular title of fighting game that called raging fighter by konami. And its way better that street fighter on this particular hand held! cooler sound efects, grafics, and controls that fit much better with the two buttons of the game console.

  • Street Fighter II is awesome.

  • i love chun-li's sexy ass and when she bends over

  • I'm sorry, but this is just too super.

  • the one on supergameboy add on the backrounds r actually the stages from the super nintindo version

  • I loved this game back in the day, so many memories haha

  • @lenneth easy question: they were thinkn $__$ and they got that. 15 yrs from now kids will be saying the same of Xbox live.

  • WHAT WHERE THEY THINKING! THIS PORT SUCKS SO MUCH !

  • wow i never knew the gameboy got a part of this

  • are you putting on this voice? or do you always pause between words like captain kirk
  • lol i wouldn't play dis shit even if I got money for it :P

  • @guccibanks777 I would...

  • he needs to review now the gameboy player for gamecube

  • I have to ask, why does the gamecube adapter always seem to look blurrier, it's blurrier than the snes variant.

  • @Snotnarok What kind of tv do you have?

  • @waddledee1000 An HDTV(720p) but anything seems to look better/sharper. Genesis, NES, Playstation all have nice visuals, GBA player just has a weird blur to it. I can't help but wonder if it's a filter they have enabled only.

  • @Snotnarok I don't know why. Did you check if you can get HD cables for your cube?

  • @waddledee1000 I did, they seem to either be rare. Still doesn't explain why other composite based medium look better...oh well :\

  • @waddledee1000 gamecube does s video from its analog port in the back if you have an older gamecube it has a "digital" port on the back which you can get component cables for but theyre really expensive

  • @MrMagichobo21 Umm you should talk to Snotnarok. He was the one that needs it.

  • I had this game. It was kind of... dissapointing, it was playable, but after playing the SNES version it just wasn't the same. I ended up trading it with a friend for his World Heroes 2 Jet. Now that was a playable game boy fighting game!

  • Gameboy sounds instantly send me back in time right into my childhood :) *sigh*

  • try the spectrum 128k version he he

  • Chun Li? Ken and Ryu are the best!

  • I'll stick with my SFII on SNES, thanks :-)

  • it's slow but still a lot better than Mortal Kombat on Game Boy!

  • I thumbs up-ed this before I even saw the video. =D

  • Hey Mark are you going to do battle arena toshinden for the game boy.

  • Best music, characters and gameplay EVER!!

Street Fighter 2 remains fresh and playable after so many years

  • Thumbs Up if you have finished Street Fighter with Zangief

  • Damn, I didnt know the lag was so bad in the GB

  • Dude your owning everyone with Chun Li

  • @smsjrtato

based on the ending tho he did it on easy =o

If you play the game on the hardest setting it actually gives you a "closing" story about the winner of the "Street Fighter Tournament"

  • who in the hell would buy street fighter for gameboy? That is like buying COD for Wii

  • Comment removed

  • And they say Super Street Fighter IV for Wii

  • i cant wait to plat strret fighters 3d on the ds

  • ah man looks so painfully sloooowww!

  • i had this one, used to play it all day long! and i played via link cable with a friend sometimes, but it was LAGGISH AS HELL XD

  • gulies theme goes with everything (street fighter revision)

  • review the iphone/ipod version please

  • first :)

  • does the super game boy really enhance the delay? That's really bad. I wonder why nintendo needs to fuck around and not do the job properly.

  • @bosnia91 It's just a rumor, i have never felt any lag whatsoever with any game i played on the SGB

  • @bosnia91 altough i think it's actually slower than a real system.

  • Your Super Gameboy is glitchy.

Better clean the connectors, they may be dirty as hell, man.

  • Oh man. Back when 10FPS were considered "playable"!

  • @JollySilver

It was NEVER considered playable...and this game is shit because of it..

  • @JollySilver 10 fps? Try 7 or 8

  • @JollySilver...and when everybody was concerned with how many bits a console had lol...

  • @JollySilver

well.. that was portable gaming system...

  • @JollySilver People still play games a @10fps, I saw people playing Crysis Warhead on Nvidia 8400GT Graphics Card & getting 10fps avarage.

  • @CJ2GAME I sware gameboy have every genre of games on that portable

  • @JollySilver You have never played Crysis on an old computer...

  • @JollySilver Heck yea, there was NO excuse for this, especially from Capcom, and the time it was made. Look at Killer Instinct on GB.. It looked and played amazing. Side by side it looked like both games were made in different times on different systems, same for the Mortal Kombat on GB. Rare was the only one who got it right, Killer Instinct was the best fighting game on the GB hands down.

  • street fighter 2 on my PSP go is incredible, WOW

  • lol their a street fighter ad to the right of this video

  • damn... I recognize every single 'song' in this game... good old childhood :D

  • Guile GB theme makes a catchy ringtone.

  • i must that is slow fps

but the colored backgrounds ad alot to the experience!

  • I still can't believe how much better this version was than the c64 version...

  • i like the reviews but your guys' intro music bugs me. it's like 3 songs just thrown together

  • @schnids1605 Epic intro is epic.

  • This is a very impressive port of Street Fighter II. The music sounds great, the graphics are great (considering all the objects and textures are actually there), and the animations are well done. Shame about the responsiveness of the controls being delayed. It could have been a perfectly nice alternative to the console versions back in the day.

  • That's pretty funny to think about playing SFII on a gameboy. Looks pretty impressive for the platform. Now, if only we can get you in Chun Li rehab. That is the cheapest pick of any character.

  • lol app

  • I found this game at a garage sale about 10 years ago or so, and actually got it for free, because the lady that was running the sale told me to just take it and not worry about paying, because it was the only thing I had in my hand and it was marked only 25 cents.

  • old school ...

  • Now that is classic

  • Oh noes man, now I am going to have to hunt down a copy of this game for my GB collection :D.

  • hey MARK why don´t you use emulators? when you own a physical copy of a game using roms are not illegal

  • @elmalhermano If he owns a physical copy then why would he use a rom?

  • @MrGinger2612 Because stealing is fun. Those old shitty games should be in the public domain now anyways.

  • @coneyislanddiscomark Do you even know what happens if you get caught with roms? Also even if you do own a physical copy roms are still illegal.

  • @MrGinger2612 Lol. you're not going to get caught.

  • @MrGinger2612 Nothing happens. It's illegal to redistribute roms, but they won't do anything about owning them. Nobody has ever been arrested or fined. Get off your soapbox, and let the emulators run, they're safe.

  • @HARVESTERFTW Actually if you are caught with them you can face fines up to £60,000 and there has been a few cases of people getting arrested and fined for possession and people for distributing them.

  • @MrGinger2612 Yeah, but police aren't going to go busting down your door for a few roms. The odds of getting caught are slim to none, with nearly everybody doing it, and, like I said, the only way of getting busted is openly redistributing roms. Even then, they won't do much. Emuparadise? Still up. Romhustler? Not going anywhere. Quit white-knighting.

  • @MrGinger2612 Everything that's fun in life is illegal. It's a fun challenge to not get caught.

  • @coneyislanddiscomark Hmmm didn't realise things like murder and rape are fun and a shame for you most people are caught so that can't be much fun.

  • @MrGinger2612 I don't know about murder but i'm always up for some hot rape action...

  • @elmalhermano

He doesn't use roms because he wants you to see how the game looks on real hardware.

  • i used to play this game in class in 8th grade....im 26 now..lol

  • CLASSIC GAME ROOM

    Y U NO WIDESCREEN NAO?

  • @DaveJolieIV because the game he's playing isn't widescreen

and a lot of people think stretching games makes them look bad

  • @MrMagicalToast Yeah I know...it was sort of a joke.

  • Street Fighter Alpha 3 for the Game Boy Advance was really good, graphics and roster not too different than the original arcade. Check it out.

  • Spinning bird kick

  • i used to love this game, used to play it as a kid, the sounds were so retro

  • this is a totally terrible game! if you want fighting games on the game boy game then go with samurai shodown

    seriously, the frame rate!

  • It's harder to play the older street fighters now, I forget there's no air blocking.

  • wheres vega and dhalsim?

  • SF2 - Chun Li doesn't have a fireball... I believe she got one for SF2 Turbo. Sad that they made that mistake.

  • @surestab that's cuz this portable GB version was based on Super Street Fighter II, you can tell by seeing Ryu shooting his red fireball, Ken doing the flaming Shoryuken, and the SSFII character arts at the fighter select screen. It's basically a portable Super Street Fighter II with only nine characters pretend as Street Fighter II: The World Warrior by using the same SNES sticker label. Super Street Fighter II was also released in 1995 so this game was based on that.

  • mortal kombat > street fighter, deal with it

  • @ApocalypseNow012 heh, that be'd true if only midway didnt go out of buisness because of their last mk game XD

  • @dedwilson

Midway didn't go out of business because of MK vs. DC. Te game game actually sold very well. They went out of business because it was too little, too late.

  • I wonder if Solid snake and Liquid Snake had that trash talking going on?

  • I just played through this game earlier today. It didn't seem very difficult to play through the arcade version was more of a challenge to beat.

  • is it just me? or he sounds like seth rogen?

  • "and if you have a super nintendo, your better off playing the snes version of street fighter 2" ORLLY?

  • WOW !!!

  • The Game Boy version of Street Fighter II has some of the best chiptune music ever!

It's also not a bad fighter for the Game Boy. It's one of my favorite Game Boy games.

  • Its still plays better the Original Street Fighter Hahaha

  • review the Gameboy Player for GCN!

  • actually mark the first two versions of street fighter I (World warrior and ' championship for arcade) were slow as molasses, it wasn't until hyper fighting that the game became quick (then they slowed it down again in New challengers only to speed it back up in super turbo.)

  • Disappointed that the Game Boy version isn't as quick and responsive as the arcade version.

  • The picture and sound are so much more clear on the Game Boy Player

  • Guile's theme goes with Classic Game Room.

  • @Kytseo what do you mean?

  • @SSSoM3 It's an internet meme based around Guile's theme music that states that it can go with pretty much any scene imaginable (it started with the video at this link: watch?v=e5qoWqkq6XU )

  • @Kytseo Nah, I think Spose "I'm awesome" fits best

  • @Kytseo Guile's theme goes with everything

  • Is the gameboy 8 bit?

  • @DoubleMGames yes the circuit boards for NES and Gameboy are nearly the same size

  • @DoubleMGames Yes, GameBoy is 8-bit. It used a special, unusual variation on the popular Z80 microprocessor. Systems that used the regular Z80 included the Colecovision and the SEGA Master System, the popular ZX Spectrum home computer used it, and it also was used as an audio co-processor in the Sega Mega Drive.

  • @DoubleMGames no it was 4 bit

  • @bigguyjames34 actually the music sucked, but the graphics were passed 8 bit. its kind of like 12 bit.

  • @bigguyjames34 then what was the game boy color?

  • Guile theme goes everything 2:00

  • Odd how they bothered to "optimize" it for the Super Gameboy yet didn't notice the unplayable amount of lag in the game when connected to the Super Gameboy =/

  • Fuck this. SFA on my LG Dare is way better.

  • Capcom was always the master at doing things with platforms that were previously thought to be beyond the hardware's limits--look at the final two NES "Mega Man" games.

Even today I play "Final Fight" and find new things of which I didn't think late-80s arcade games were capable.

  • POCKETFiGHTERS DOT CAAAAAAAAAAAARM

  • Finally he looked into getting the GCN adapter and the Super gameboy, I think his first few vids were spammed with these.

  • The "301 views" thing is Youtube checking to make sure they're not just ramping up the view counter with bots.

    ANYWAY

A surprisingly good Street fighter port!

  • I swear, every time I watch a CGR video, it's at 301 or 303 or 305 or 307 views. Sometimes 311.

  • 2:05

Yes, it goes with CGR reviews

  • omg ....you do realize your playing

the game glitched up right ?

you need to blow the game

    cart before you play

  • This game has amazing sound.

  • i used to have this! this was my very first street fighter game

  • Wow.........well......can't wait until Super Street Fighter IV 3D

  • at least they spelled congratulations right

  • I have the super nintendo version and bag is it swell

  • i like how did three versions of the gameboy do that more often :D

  • It makes me feel like I'm in the background at a makeshift movie theater

  • 8-bit music FTW!!!

  • Is it just me, or is there a Bollywood film in the "Suggestions"...

    Nah, I'm f*cking tripping, I must be.

  • @TheSeventiethSeven Theres also The Da Vinci Code, Jizz In My Pants and Justin Bieber in the suggestions - shit like this happens when the video is just uploaded. Give it a couple more hours and there will be actually related videos there.

  • Very Vince Mcmahonish.

  • fucking guile theme!

  • Music sounds awesome.

  • Oh man! You spoiled the ending of the game!

  • The dots in the background are probably a poor attempt at dithering.

As a programmer, even though I haven't played this particular version I find it to be a terribly poor version of SF2. There really is no excuse for such a long input latency. This is an interrupt driven system (similar to 8080) with a ~4.20 MHz CPU, it should be plenty to scroll a single layer background of some 150x150 pixels as well as animate two tiny characters. This is just what I'd call bad coding.

  • @ioctlvoid Your opinion. Not needed.
