They should make a reboot to the story, i mean, doing a complete remake with multiplayer with rikimaro with no customisation for story mode and coop, and a multiplayer mode with other gametypes, and the ability to make custom levels in the game just like tenchu 2, have the most advanced grathics, and stuff, have a good story line and atleast numbers in title to see if it is realy the sequel or not, no more prequels like tenchu 2, start straigt from the begining to the end this time, do it guys !

I have not been spotted on Tenchu: Stealth Assassins in 2 years, also have not been spotted on Tenchu: Birth Of The Stealth Assassins in 6 months, Tenchu: Wrath Of Heaven i got spotted last week but that was the first time in 4 years, Tenchu: Return From Darkness never been spotted, Tenchu: Fatal Shadows never been spotted, Tenchu Z never been spotted. I am clealy the greatest at Tenchu.

I think that it is actually really realistic that Rikimaru is Insecure and Conflicted in regard to his place as one of Heavens Soldiers,along with his Methods in which he uses to carry out his justice because when Tatsumaru Mortally wounded Master Shiunsai,Shiunsai told Rikimaru that he was sorry that he only taught him the physical aspects of Combat and War and not the Mental and Emotional aspects,which supports why Rikimaru is so Conflicted.
They need to stop doing the story over and over and Suzaku needs to come back. And don't anyone try to say Suzaku is Onikage because he's not. You see in Tenchu 2 he's not dead at then (Secret ending) and in wrath of heaven one of the ending you see the sparrowre light the candle and bring onikage back to life. Suzaku the red Sparrow. so it had to be him.
@NathanGrace Suzaku is Onikage =/. If you have seen the hidden ending that plays after Tatsumaru's game, and if u played Tenchu 1, then u'd see that it is him after he takes off his blindfold. Looks just like him and even plays his theme song from Tenchu 1.
@NathanGrace i have no idea what your trying to say, but suzaku is onikage, thats tenchu common knowledge, tatsumarus ending tenchu 2, suzaku removes blindfold revealing that infact its onikage, a precursor to tenchu 1 when he laughs and says he still has those pesky azuma ninja to torment and calls on lord mei oh. And that ending in wrath of heaven, thats not a sparrow lighting the candle thats a crow.
@vampyrhart This is the Tenchu the same dudes (Acquire) created in the past, they only made Tenchu 1, 2, and "This". K3 made Tenchu 3, Fatel Shadows, and Z. :(
I really don't know about this game's plot sometimes, I mean it sure seems like Ayame's story from wrath of heaven is "canon" due to Sekiya being "false" but at the same time, Rikamaru not using the azuma clan sword is also "canon" because in wrath of heaven when it broke it broke spiritually as well so that's why Rikamaru was given the choice of putting in the steel of Mei-oh's weapon because if he used normal steel the sword would not have regained it's true power.
@GhettoDG1 I guess after Wrath the original creators who did the first and second Tenchus made this and didn't follow the story exactly of what the other creators did but what I know is that when I unlocked Izayoi in this, it been corrupt with evil and looks like Mei-oh's sword.
I am a tenchu fan here but out of all the tenchu games series or other side story.. I say this one isn't that good as I really like it that much. The controling movement is not good at all and can't use your grappling hook no more. Also, you have to wait for a stupid icon to preform things when you want to do things on your own free will.. So I give this new tenchu a 5/10 rate here on my opinion.
@hayategumo your opinion can't argue with that I give mines 7/10 cuz it lacks some ninja stuff and techniques from the past games, movements was weird for me too but I got used to it. But love the graphics and stealth kills and the new evil hot chick Rinshi.
I agree with you that it has lack off those good ninja stuff and abilities too. The movement was like playing the first two tenchu. But at least, the two first tenchi was more better playing then this new tenchu 4. Stealth kill is pretty ok but feel like your Tesshu again. Because he does those stealth kill then using a sword to kill.
Onikage used to be cool for a bad guy. Now its just annoying and boring. Being killed so many different times in different games and he just reappear. He wont die. At least by just fighting. Like you think Rikimaru would've at least figured that out. Well, at least we will not be bored with another usual Kiku kidnapping...
Rikimaru is not a murderer. Allegedly until THIS Game came out. It threw off his character/personality by forsaking the code of being an Azuma's ninja: NEVER kill the innocents. Back in Wrath of Heaven, he didn't kill Lord Gohda's men as he "shadow-ly" came back because he knew they didn't knew he still exist. So why the hell start the killing now?!? It is the Game to blame :(

@bendle34 Hiding, maybe he is still a spirit. He told Onikage to destroy Goda Castle (again) by using Rinshi and her clan. Rinshi only knew Onikage as Sekiya so she was tricked.
@bendle34, on one of the endings. I cant remember if it was after the credits or before, but there was kind of a black screen or weird background and a dialogue of Onikage with Mei-oh.
@gmac192 There was one but the user named Nebecom closed his account, but Onikage has the same stealth kills and strength as Rikimaru though, his abillites were to summon a fire by pressing A and B at the same time and runs as fast as Ayame, if you picked up a sword its also invincible, and if you got 1 item and go to the next area it will refill that item to the max (pretty much hes two characters combine used by Devil Mask only bad side is your always get an E rank after completing a mission)

Q. What happened to the Izayoi? A. Rikimaru used Mei-oh's sword to repair it on Wrath of Heaven and hide it from someone like Onikage. (Note. you can unlock his sword by collecting all of Rikimaru's map pieces in game)
Q. What happened to the real Sekiya? A. He died in Wrath of Heaven by a Shikigami spirit but Onikage possesed his corpse then reappered in Ayame's ending.
@acc5011 I sure hope so because if Ayame is an enemy then thats a whole new Tenchu story added. but they better have a plot like Birth and Wrath of Heaven. for example in Birth, Kagami wanted a world for ninjas to live out of the shadows (like Naruto's world) by destorying any of the Feudal Lords castles but fails In Wrath, Tenrai wants to rule the world by using Mei-oh's power until he got stopped by Rikimaru. In this story it still never reveals why Onikage is planning to destroy the castle.

Rikimaru has killed not only Kiku and Onikage's shell but himself and the Azuma clan.
He was a ninja, cunning, able to turn any situation to his favor. He killed the hostage with little thought.
He was an Azuma, sworn to uphold the house of Gohda. He killed his lord's daughter for his own grudges and, unless I missed something, with his clan's ancestral blade.
Hes just a disgrace now, to the Azuma and to himself. He deserved better than this.
*sniffles* Kiku... How could they kill off Kiku, look how much she's grown and everything, and she was such an important side character too T^T... Oh my god, so Rikimaru's gonna have to kill Ayame next?! This is blasphemy! The story is now so twisted, and there is so much to cover. @Angelkillsdevils Maybe the next one will have something about Kiku's soul banishing the Onikage from Ayame or something. That way, at least Ayame would be herself again and maybe Kiku could come back.

@lastunusedname They SERIOUSLY can't end it here. Eventhough it would probably be better off since it keeps getting worse... But if they end it here, a part of my life will be missing. This definitely isn't the ideal ending. Kiku's dead, Rikimaru's misunderstood, Ayame is Onikage, and Onikage doesn't have his body anymore? This can't be the ending unless they intend to turn this game into a dramatic tragedy.
In my experience, which I admit isn't total, Tenchu tends to end badly until the next one in which its retracted. Rikimaru 'dies', Ayame kills Tatsumaru, Tatsumaru kills himself, Rin and Tesshu lose their friends/employers, Rikimaru kills Kiku. But Rikimaru and then Tatsumaru came back, even if temporarily. For main characters in Tenchu, death is only a maybe.
I think in the next one, Kiku might come back, but Ayame will die.
@vickyinhalo My guess is that either 0stealthway0 is right or they're planning another game that focuses on her, like Kurenai (Fatal Shadows). But since I don't own an Xbox 360 yet, those are only guesses.

Why do I get the feeling, that when the Tenchu saga is finally completed, it will end in tragedy? Sekiya is dead, Kiku is dead, I believe it won't be long before Gohda is also dead. I'll Bet That Rikimaru will Sacrifice himself to save the world, or some other tragic ending. This is getting too sad for me.
Just some info: this is the first game since Tenchu 2 to be developed by Acquire. Acquire developed the first two Tenchu games, and From Software developed all the others.
They all have new voice actors in the Japanese version, too, because they're older. They have different voice actors in all three of the Acquire games because they age so much between them.
Onikage's new Japanese seiyuu is actually the guy that does Reno and Axel, so his Japanese voice is pretty different from this.
Also the story... i think they tried too hard. This is a very different tenchu from the ones i have played. The Tenchu series is one of my favorite games, and it really saddens me to see how they "overworked" the story. Rikimaru killing "Kiku"? they very same Kiku, Rikimaru saved in Tenchu 1. I believe Tenchu 1 is still the best of all the series... too bad it wouldn't be remake.
hmmm.... i think the character design for onikage is way over. It seems way over. The red lines around his body... i dont think so... i still like the old design which has the outworldly origin, rather that the new design.
I also wonder where the real Sekiya would be at this time if Onikage was disguised as him...I wonder how the plot will turn out in the next game as well, if they might have one that is.

P.S. I'm very progressive about storyline departures etc.but this here DISGRACES the tenchu the series. They could not have done of more thorough job of tarnishing and contradicting EVERYTHING tenchu/azuma stood for. Riki was the most honor abiding, selfless man combing walking the earth, now for shock value hes a random killer, ending his Lord's daughter life (same one he would've died for) for revenge? I am sickened. reviews don't focus on storyline consistency when rating, just coherence.
Rikimaru's always been a merciless killer, and his "honor" is dictated by the will of his master.
I didn't play any of the games after Acquire stopped developing them (they did the first two, and came back to develop this one), so I'm not sure what all happened in the From Software games.
What I do know is that in the first two, Rikimaru was always having to deal with what true honor was, and Orochimaru always tried to convince him he was just a killer hiding behind his master's ideals.
However, Rikimaru always had a keen conception of what was right and wrong, as did Ayame. This is evidenced by his remorse towards innocent village people in Tenchu 2, and the fact that every training stage and mission objective review from every Tenchu first level emphatically reiterated the wrongfulness of "spilling the blood of the innocent". Azuma's would never indulge a grudge at the expense of an innocent life.. which is why this is disgraceful.
why make a game sequel with completely different voice actors? Its like a movie sequel with a new cast. Its an injustice. They were trying to be cool and trendy with these dark knight-esque voices. Not to mention the crappiness of the voice acting. This doesnt even feel like tenchu, It literally dishonors the series. There is NO resemblance to previous games. I didnt even realize that was onikage. The gameplay is good but I have no emotional attachment to these characters or this bs story.
thats true, but Kiku did say "do it you must" so she knows what will happen anyway cause of Onikage. Then Rikimaru didn't think of what will happen, he just act quickly to kill Onikage but also killed Kiku by mistake. It got me sad that she dies :*(
I guess thats true but (this is my opinion) Kiku already knows whats going to happened after she said "do it you must" then lifts her head and she close her eyes. I guess maybe that was it. I just wish she is alive or maybe in the next Tenchu game.
Personally this is not official, just my ideal reason. Rikimaru rushed too quick and he didn't realize onikage was going to pull Kiku-Hime right in front of himself. Onikage is the one, logically who killed Kiku.
I wish they make a Tenchu game with Onikage's Story just so it makes sence on the whole Tenchu story like joined the Burning Dawn (tenchu 2), ressurrected by Tenrai and how he posses Sekiya and tricked Rinshi

Well since Time of the Assassins is only on PSP you can buy any version and it will play. I bought one from the UK, and you can play as Onikage, after you finish the other storylines. There is no format for PSP, tho game is random stories for the characters
when u get all the map parts in that "crap" cuz it can't be called "game".. u get the complete ending that shows ayame repeating onikage's dying words to rikimaru... in other words she is laughin because she's been possesed by onikage someway..

after wrath of heaven's credits if u finish the game with rikimaru and repair iza yoi with shikichito (mei - ho sword) you get a cutscene where onikage appears talking with mei-ho so.. no. he's not suppose to be dead. he always gets revived by mei-ho in every tenchu anyway

What the...? This whole thing seems like it was pulled from a very bad fanfic. I hate the voices (among other things). They shouldve used Daniel dae Kims voice from T3. Tenchu was one of my faves, what a shame.

I really don't know about this game's plot sometimes, I mean it sure seems like Ayame's story from wrath of heaven is "canon" due to Sekiya being "false" but at the same time, Rikamaru not using the azuma clan sword is also "canon" because in wrath of heaven when it broke it broke spiritually as well so that's why Rikamaru was given the choice of putting in the steel of Mei-oh's weapon because if he used normal steel the sword would not have regained it's true power.

@GhettoDG1 I guess after Wrath the original creators who did the first and second Tenchus made this and didn't follow the story exactly of what the other creators did but what I know is that when I unlocked Izayoi in this, it been corrupt with evil and looks like Mei-oh's sword.

I am a tenchu fan here but out of all the tenchu games series or other side story.. I say this one isn't that good as I really like it that much. The controling movement is not good at all and can't use your grappling hook no more. Also, you have to wait for a stupid icon to preform things when you want to do things on your own free will.. So I give this new tenchu a 5/10 rate here on my opinion.

@hayategumo your opinion can't argue with that I give mines 7/10 cuz it lacks some ninja stuff and techniques from the past games, movements was weird for me too but I got used to it. But love the graphics and stealth kills and the new evil hot chick Rinshi.

I agree with you that it has lack off those good ninja stuff and abilities too. The movement was like playing the first two tenchu. But at least, the two first tenchi was more better playing then this new tenchu 4. Stealth kill is pretty ok but feel like your Tesshu again. Because he does those stealth kill then using a sword to kill.

Onikage used to be cool for a bad guy. Now its just annoying and boring. Being killed so many different times in different games and he just reappear. He wont die. At least by just fighting. Like you think Rikimaru would've at least figured that out. Well, at least we will not be bored with another usual Kiku kidnapping...

Rikimaru is not a murderer. Allegedly until THIS Game came out. It threw off his character/personality by forsaking the code of being an Azuma's ninja: NEVER kill the innocents. Back in Wrath of Heaven, he didn't kill Lord Gohda's men as he "shadow-ly" came back because he knew they didn't knew he still exist. So why the hell start the killing now?!? It is the Game to blame :(

@bendle34 Hiding, maybe he is still a spirit. He told Onikage to destroy Goda Castle (again) by using Rinshi and her clan. Rinshi only knew Onikage as Sekiya so she was tricked.

@bendle34, on one of the endings. I cant remember if it was after the credits or before, but there was kind of a black screen or weird background and a dialogue of Onikage with Mei-oh.

@gmac192 There was one but the user named Nebecom closed his account, but Onikage has the same stealth kills and strength as Rikimaru though, his abillites were to summon a fire by pressing A and B at the same time and runs as fast as Ayame, if you picked up a sword its also invincible, and if you got 1 item and go to the next area it will refill that item to the max (pretty much hes two characters combine used by Devil Mask only bad side is your always get an E rank after completing a mission)

Q. Why does Rikimaru's hair changed? A. He got older, hes on his mid 30s.
Q. What happened to the Izayoi? A. Rikimaru used Mei-oh's sword to repair it on Wrath of Heaven and hide it from someone like Onikage. (Note. you can unlock his sword by collecting all of Rikimaru's map pieces in game)
Q. What happened to the real Sekiya? A. He died in Wrath of Heaven by a Shikigami spirit but Onikage possesed his corpse then reappered in Ayame's ending.

@acc5011 I sure hope so because if Ayame is an enemy then thats a whole new Tenchu story added. but they better have a plot like Birth and Wrath of Heaven. for example in Birth, Kagami wanted a world for ninjas to live out of the shadows (like Naruto's world) by destorying any of the Feudal Lords castles but fails In Wrath, Tenrai wants to rule the world by using Mei-oh's power until he got stopped by Rikimaru. In this story it still never reveals why Onikage is planning to destroy the castle.

Onikage joined Dethklok.
Rikimaru has killed not only Kiku and Onikage's shell but himself and the Azuma clan.
He was a ninja, cunning, able to turn any situation to his favor. He killed the hostage with little thought.
He was an Azuma, sworn to uphold the house of Gohda. He killed his lord's daughter for his own grudges and, unless I missed something, with his clan's ancestral blade.
Hes just a disgrace now, to the Azuma and to himself. He deserved better than this.

@lastunusedname They SERIOUSLY can't end it here. Eventhough it would probably be better off since it keeps getting worse... But if they end it here, a part of my life will be missing. This definitely isn't the ideal ending. Kiku's dead, Rikimaru's misunderstood, Ayame is Onikage, and Onikage doesn't have his body anymore? This can't be the ending unless they intend to turn this game into a dramatic tragedy.

In my experience, which I admit isn't total, Tenchu tends to end badly until the next one in which its retracted. Rikimaru 'dies', Ayame kills Tatsumaru, Tatsumaru kills himself, Rin and Tesshu lose their friends/employers, Rikimaru kills Kiku. But Rikimaru and then Tatsumaru came back, even if temporarily. For main characters in Tenchu, death is only a maybe.
I think in the next one, Kiku might come back, but Ayame will die.

Why do I get the feeling, that when the Tenchu saga is finally completed, it will end in tragedy? Sekiya is dead, Kiku is dead, I believe it won't be long before Gohda is also dead. I'll Bet That Rikimaru will Sacrifice himself to save the world, or some other tragic ending. This is getting too sad for me.

Just some info: this is the first game since Tenchu 2 to be developed by Acquire. Acquire developed the first two Tenchu games, and From Software developed all the others.
They all have new voice actors in the Japanese version, too, because they're older. They have different voice actors in all three of the Acquire games because they age so much between them.
Onikage's new Japanese seiyuu is actually the guy that does Reno and Axel, so his Japanese voice is pretty different from this.

Also the story... i think they tried too hard. This is a very different tenchu from the ones i have played. The Tenchu series is one of my favorite games, and it really saddens me to see how they "overworked" the story. Rikimaru killing "Kiku"? they very same Kiku, Rikimaru saved in Tenchu 1. I believe Tenchu 1 is still the best of all the series... too bad it wouldn't be remake.

P.S. I'm very progressive about storyline departures etc.but this here DISGRACES the tenchu the series. They could not have done of more thorough job of tarnishing and contradicting EVERYTHING tenchu/azuma stood for. Riki was the most honor abiding, selfless man combing walking the earth, now for shock value hes a random killer, ending his Lord's daughter life (same one he would've died for) for revenge? I am sickened. reviews don't focus on storyline consistency when rating, just coherence.

Rikimaru's always been a merciless killer, and his "honor" is dictated by the will of his master.
I didn't play any of the games after Acquire stopped developing them (they did the first two, and came back to develop this one), so I'm not sure what all happened in the From Software games.
What I do know is that in the first two, Rikimaru was always having to deal with what true honor was, and Orochimaru always tried to convince him he was just a killer hiding behind his master's ideals.

Interesting,well thought out perspective.
However, Rikimaru always had a keen conception of what was right and wrong, as did Ayame. This is evidenced by his remorse towards innocent village people in Tenchu 2, and the fact that every training stage and mission objective review from every Tenchu first level emphatically reiterated the wrongfulness of "spilling the blood of the innocent". Azuma's would never indulge a grudge at the expense of an innocent life.. which is why this is disgraceful.

why make a game sequel with completely different voice actors? Its like a movie sequel with a new cast. Its an injustice. They were trying to be cool and trendy with these dark knight-esque voices. Not to mention the crappiness of the voice acting. This doesnt even feel like tenchu, It literally dishonors the series. There is NO resemblance to previous games. I didnt even realize that was onikage. The gameplay is good but I have no emotional attachment to these characters or this bs story.

thats true, but Kiku did say "do it you must" so she knows what will happen anyway cause of Onikage. Then Rikimaru didn't think of what will happen, he just act quickly to kill Onikage but also killed Kiku by mistake. It got me sad that she dies :*(

Personally this is not official, just my ideal reason. Rikimaru rushed too quick and he didn't realize onikage was going to pull Kiku-Hime right in front of himself. Onikage is the one, logically who killed Kiku.

I wish they make a Tenchu game with Onikage's Story just so it makes sence on the whole Tenchu story like joined the Burning Dawn (tenchu 2), ressurrected by Tenrai and how he posses Sekiya and tricked Rinshi
I don't know why they didn't release Tenchu Time of the Assassins on US because I bet it's a story between Wrath of Heaven and this who knows? I bet Lord Mei-oh always ressurrect Onikage thats why he's here and must be alive

Well since Time of the Assassins is only on PSP you can buy any version and it will play. I bought one from the UK, and you can play as Onikage, after you finish the other storylines. There is no format for PSP, tho game is random stories for the characters

after wrath of heaven's credits if u finish the game with rikimaru and repair iza yoi with shikichito (mei - ho sword) you get a cutscene where onikage appears talking with mei-ho so.. no. he's not suppose to be dead. he always gets revived by mei-ho in every tenchu anyway

@alejandrotaker rikimaru will kill ayame, because he has to be the only leader of the azuma clan ( for in tenchu z he is alone, and probably older ) ayame, whom will have been possessed by onikage and kiku will probably come back or something-there's nothing unusual with that in this game :))
i feel bad for Ayame, though. she's my only reason to play the game..
