To be honest, this part of the game is the main reason it's worth playing; I rush through all of it to get here, because I don't really like the rest of the game - there's too much whinging from Hope, and seriously, half of Snow's script is "Serah, SERAH!". Plus when you start it for the first time, even dealing with the fact that there are two forms of weather and a noun in your party is tough.
I've heard this song sooo many times, and I never ever get tired of it. From all the subtle sounds interspersed throughout the track, the orgasmic awesomeness of the percussion and bass, and the addictive goodness of the melody...this is definitely my favorite song from XIII's OST. As a musician myself, Masashi Hamauzu is easily one of my biggest inspirations, and this song inspires me on so many levels. There's just something potent about it.
I wake up to the beauty of nature with this song as my alarm. This song surely makes me wanna wake up and see the world of FFXIII, But I can't =/ What a shame
Aah... the Steppe was the best area in the game. FF13 was good but the story didn't seem to be so heart piercing as some of the earlier games (mind you it *was* a good story). The largest issue I found with FF13 was the size of the world and how linear the game was; the Steppe was the only truly explorable area, the rest were simply paths to get to a town, etc. On top of this, you can't return to Cocoon, which cuts off half the game's areas.
I'm so p*ss*d off that i renered the treasure hunter trophy impossible. After ages leveling and finding items only to realize that it was impossible. I think it was some charms or something that i sold... arr well im never going to sell anything again. I plan on replaying this game to get it anyway... Its an amazing game so i wouldn't mind :)
@Vernvestiga Sadly, I haven't yet played this game, however, i knew it was out in March of 2010, just ignored it for some reason....was too stoked for God of War 3. I've always wanted to get into the Final Fantasy games, just never had the ambition to. Strangely enough, I am a huge fan of the Kingdom Hearts series, so you'd think I would also be the same with FF. Point of question I am attempting to ask is, how would you describe this game in short that would convince me to give it a try? Thanks
@elk832 Is there a easier way to farm Trapezohedron from Adamantoise? because I don't have enough gil to buy it from R&D and it's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Expensive.
@tommychan47 for an already-strong party, there's the straightforward method of killing them here: watch?v=UhnZD8nPftY&feature=related
To boost Summon+Death success, use malboro wand, make sure they have all the debuffs they aren't immune to, and have more Saboteurs in your party (the higher role, the better). Staggering/higher chain also helps, but you typically don't have time for that. All this gets somewhere ~10-20% success rate per Death.
The soundtrack would have been much better if all the songs were of this style. Hamauzu tried to much to sound like nobou Uematsu instead of playing to his strenghts (atmospheric type music).
Make sure all your characters are fully developed.... I recommend using Fang, Snow, and Lightning. Get a Sentinel/Sentinel/Sentinel Paradigm setup so that you can block the really strong attacks. Oh and max out your weapons.
@metalhunter15 Once you have a weapon that's on it's second form (meaning you've upgraded once before), then just upgrade it with a trapezohedron.
You can get them by killing adamantoise and adamantortoise, but even then it's a 1% chance of getting one. :/ You can buy them for 2mil gil, but it'll take ages too save up that much.
I have like 10, lol, I'd give you some if I could. ;p
@metalhunter15 There's also a great strategy involving Vanille's Death. Even though Long Gui are immune, Death can do 999,999 damage if Vanille's magic is nearly maxed and you switch to Cerberus (COM/COM/COM) before it lands (with you buffed and the Long Gui debuffed of course). Poison is a necessity, and having good gear and stats on your other party members helps a lot.
@elk832 After mission 51 How are the long and Shaolong Guis introduced? are they introduced via a cutscene or do they just appear on the Steeple. and can you respawn the original orantoises? What stregy should I use for mission 51.
and is it possible to get 5 stars when fighting a Juggernaut because when I faced him on mark missions and random battles I get no stars or in mission 29 I get three stars.
@tommychan47 There's no scene - they just change. There's still one Adamantoise wandering around the Steppe + one in Eden. Adamanchelids and Adamantortoise are gone though (except through missions). So get all the traps+ingots you need before doing mission 51. It's been a while since I killed Attacus, but he constantly wipes your buffs and his debuffs IIRC so don't bother much with SAB/SYN. Instead, focus on pure damage w/ COM, raising the chain, and using SEN/SEN/SEN for his special attacks.
@metalhunter15 Oh, I love Highwind for Adamantoise and Shaolong Gui, but it clears the chain gauge so it's not as affective when you'd have to re-stagger an opponent. With Death, you can just keep casting and kill it in one or two stagger cycles.
After listen to the entire OST of this game, this piece is my favorite. It's elegant and epic. Also it seems like it has a sense of determination. Just amazing :)

It's impossible to hear this song with imaging Adamantoise roaming the Steppe with the sound of Titan stomping around in the background.

@th3Invincible ans i heard some weapons can give me a 6th atb charge segment, by using trapezeron, or hows it called.
how do i use that stuff properly?

@th3Invincible when fully leveled, by killing long guis with a collectors catalog the drop rate is 5-7% and the platinum ingot rate is 25% :D

@elk832 well myself i prefer to use fang's highwind, wich at 999.99 % will allso do about 1.500.000 damage, maybe more, but its hard to see :P
