this game pissed me off, it had such shitty combat and it just got impossible once I got to the Black riders, It has some good things aboput it, the art and music was really cool at the time
i was expecting something way better, after seeing the nintendo ds version, but this isnt half bad, anyways tolkien is a genius to have imagined such a story
Hahaha i remember this game. i spent hours and hours revising the save code to get better equipment or armor. I did manage somehow got luck and input a random code in got into the last stage with all the gear and beat the game. lol The music of this game is pretty good.
Oh god, I've spent ages playing this game (was about 10 years old)
THe barrow downs (or w/e the name was) was so horrible :'), finding those gate gems was a horror.
I remembered keeping entire booklets for those shitty password combinations. At times I probably entered the wrong codes, since I was suddenly playing with Gandalf (who was firing glitched lasers, i was like: WTF is this shit)
wow i remember getting the 5 player adaptrer and having my friends over almost every night playing this game ... good gosh that was in 95!!!! I remembered If you Didnt have the booklet to this game with you all the time you were screwed .... the maps are the key to even getting anywhere in this game
@seansapir1 The Amiga was a personal computer that debuted in the mid 80's. This is a bit before my time so I only know what I've read. It apparently went through many iterations, from 1000 to 4000. Sometime in its lifetime, apparently, the PC version of this game was ported to it.
@Daramue@Daramue ya, so Blizz made it then sent it to Amiga and then Amiga had it. = Blizz made it. Wikipedia says that Blizzard (silicon and Synapse) and Interplay made it. Silicon and Synapse is Blizz old name
Well, not exactly. Interplay developed the SNES version but Silicon & Synapse (the former name of Blizzard Entertainment) developed (or at least ported) the version for Amiga.
So, in a way: Yes, Blizzard was involved in this game.
@seansapir1 Amiga was a computer. It was a successor to the Commodore series. I used to use the Commodore 64 but never had another computer similar. We moved to NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) for gaming and various IBMs for computing needs.
and here i thought there were none before the movies. now i need a nes or one of those new consoles that let you play all old nes and snes, etc and get this one.
It is fun at first. You get sick of going through caves that look the exact same. There are sooooooooooo many of them. No one tells you what your supposed to do, and you have to figure it out for yourself. If one of your partners dies, they start out level 1 again. Legolas doesn't attack for some reason too...
yeah pretty well said. Why does it have to be so repetitive? I mean everything is identical to each other it seems and with no map or direction.....bah. And of course after watching the movies and seeing how badass Legolas was to have him.....not do anything is a dissapointment to say the least
I bought it for 25 dollars and was expecting it to be great. I told all my friends i was playing LOTR on SNES and they were surprised. None of them have heard of it before. We all know why now though.
man i got my copy of the game yesterday at jumbo video micro play never used still in the box it was fitthy bucks and someone lay away it for a week but we gave it a higher price and then i got it its a good game but good luck for finding it its one fricken rare game!

What I find interesting in this game is the pictures of the characters on the menu screen are taken from the Ralph Bakshi movie.

man those bats were annoying
but despite all bad things on this game I beat it and it was semi-worth it
Why? Because perhaps it was a challenge it's the first and prolly last game I had to draw maps of the caves rofl (and overworld like barrow downs)
Pwnyou 3 years ago
Can someone say why this game actually sucks?
In general i hate SNES RPG's just because they are turned based in combat. But this is without the turned based element.
It seems very promising to me and i wanna buy it to play on my snes. But can someone say: dont? because..?
