@mike2011989 not sure what lu xiaojun's front squat max is, but one of the chinese lifters (junior only) who hit 205 on the clean and jerk at the chinese weightlifting nationals couple months back has a front squat max around 250 kg so im assuming lu is a bit higher. lol yea lu was a track athlete before but he turned to weightlifting way before 18, i think an article said he realized he lacked the "stamina" and "top speed' needed to be a good sprinter so he chose lifting.
@mike2011989 im not sure u can become a weightlifting champion if u start at 18 (if u never done any clean and jerk, snatch before at all), even someone as gifted as lu it takes time to develop champion lifters
@mike2011989 yea same here. most of the weightlifting countries keep their training relatively secret. would be great if lu xiaojun actually had a youtube channel (unforturntaly youtube is banned in china) and uploaded training vids. that would be awesome.
To front squat 500+ at any weight is strong. To do it with the speed Xiaojun does in this video is elite at any weight. At 77 kg, it's unreal. For those without a frame of reference to appreciate this, top US lifter / 2008 Olympian Kendrick Farris (85 kg, next weight class up) has a video of himself fr. squatting 231 kg well-removed from a competition. He struggles with it.
@Jimmyretired lol 550 pound deadlift. do you realize that you just watched a skinny 170lb guy Front squat 507 pounds (triple his bodyweight) twice for a warm up? he can probably warm up with jay cutler's deadlift even though jay cutler is twice bigger than him. jay is a great bodybuilder, but hes a nobody in the world of sports
i saw an HD version on chinese news (you can see the guy who uploaded the video recording, haha). two blue plates, one red, two yellows, one green on each side. 230.
to be fair theres a HUGE difference between amateur lifters and real PROFESSIONAL weightlifters...its like comparing high school basketball with nba...

This isn't necessarily a "heavy load" on the bar for him. Relatively, this looks like ~80% effort, so to them, this is probably "light-moderate" front squats 2 days out.
@onepounch LMAO!!!!!!!!! lu cleans 210 and stands up with it with relative ease....u really think thats 210? most 69 kg guys front squat 210 with moderate effort....let alone the 77kg world record holder...
@AdmiralSeadog the clean is a technical skill. his 200kg cleans look like its 50% of his FS max but you can be sure it isn´t. `m not sayin he can´t double 230 but this is 210. like it or not. btw it´s not that unusual to squat doubles with what you are going to c&j a few days prior to competition but after reading all your other comments you probably know that as you seem to be a real expert
Hhahaha and all the stupid americans putting up their squats on this site like theyre something weighing 20 kg more than this guy;; jesus what a rude awakening hahahaa
@jernmyre 99% of people from any nationality can't squat this, regardless of BW. It's not just an American thing to post a squat video far inferior to this one. YouTube is designed to put anything you up (within the rules) you want.
But yes, Americans do need to stop sucking ass at lifting.
@Jimmyretired You're one of the stupidest people I've ever seen. This lifter holds the World Record for the Snatch in his weight class. He's nobody? He squats more than Cutler does at significantly less weight.
Cutler, and the other athletes you mentioned, are not strong with regards to professional weightlifters for their weight. They are body builders, and look for a completely different purpose.
That's why you see people half their size squatting 200 pounds more.
@Jimmyretired Dude. I'm american and love lifting too but a box squat of 500? I did that sophomore year. cutler? Bodybuilders are bitches for heavy weights. Cena is powerful but not as good as we'd like. America does have outstanding lifters, but they spend ALL of their time powerlifting doing fucking caveman lifts rather than Olifts. If all our powerlifters shed some pounds and Olympic lifted, we may stand a chance. But anyways, this guy is truly powerful
@snatch147at85 It's from the Unbelievable Bulgarians tape that I have. He does 245 kg at 39m40s. Strossen named his pr afterwards. Still, regarding the fact that Lu does it with strict form, fluently and 2 days prior to the event, he is obviously the king of the front squat in the -77 class.
WTF. Damn Asians ,making us Americans look all week and such

I've read somewhere that he was a track athlete before, turned to weightlifting at ~18y.o?
and ATG backsquat 300kgs?
him, Naim, Liao Hui, Rezzazadeh are the league of extraordinary gentlemen

So I guess anyone who can't front squat over 3x their bodyweight shouldn't be posting squat videos then?
If that was the case then there would probably be about 4 squat videos on the whole internet.
Now wouldn't that suck?

Anyone have a backsquat video of this guy?
LayEmOut60 3 months ago 21
@LayEmOut60 They don't back squat as often. Front squatting is more central loaded and translates into the classic lifts.
