  • Ruff as Guts...Give me USA Drumline.....Beside its the same old boring crap....1 minutes enough for me...

  • Blue Knights used this as their drum feature this year!

  • the old man with tha snare is killing it !!

  • @army1m16 That would be Jim Kilpatrick lol

  • This makes me feel like an ant looking up at an elephant.

  • Great to see one of my Pupils (Jim) on youtube!!!!

  • even the Scots massed pipe bands would be impressed with that display (excluding the clothing though ;)

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

  • I love the clarity of those snares

  • i could never memorize that....what the heck!!

  • AWESOME!

To take part in a cool drumming contest, check out the Tyfry.com drumming contest sponsored by Jim Kilpatrick, Scott Currie and Cameron's drumming studio. Loads of great prizes to be had.

  • I love the way it sounds like one snare. the timing on it. And the way the tenors are so synced in their swings

  • I LOVE IT !

  • Fry and Kilpatrick what a duo

  • Might be very technically difficult, but I'm bored enough to wright this in the 2 minute mark....

  • I love this!!! Im a Pipeband snare drummer aswell but holy crap they have soo much talent and everything.

  • WOW, awesome trilling those drum sticks.

  • The tenors are fun to watch.

  • amazing!!!!!! wish i would not swapped my kilt for the kit!!

  • Holy SH** at 0:11 .. How the fu** they do that.. is it like little strap things on their hands??

  • @KC816KC the tenors? they have strings tied around the mallet then on their hand. the spinning is flourishing

  • @bottomsnare Oh so it's all fake.. It's still AMAZING!!

  • @KC816KC Yep, straps around certain fingers. What you saw is called 'flourishing' :)

  • agreed most others bounce around yelling and some are just running around

  • a little max rayne there in the middle....go jim go

  • SFU's got it goin on too.

  • incredible drumming.

  • I don't understand this kind of drumming

  • what are the things in the front??

  • The drums with the white fuffy sticks? Those are Tenor Drums. Thats the type of drum that Tyler Fry is playing in this video

    Awesome drummers!!!

  • Jim Kilpatrick is probably one of the best side drummers we will ever have the opportunity to see and any side drummer could learn a lot from him. (e.g me :P)

  • im not a fan of traditinal, but these guys can pull it off. =)

  • agreed :P

  • LOVING the buzzes.

  • the guy next to jim kilpatrick's my tutor lol

  • Yep, it don't get much better than that kiddies.

    My balls nearly fell off...

  • HOLY JESUS DICK!!!!!

  • is it me or do some parts of this drum routine seem similar to the 'chilli drummer's fanfare' from red hot chilli pipers?

  • Its the 'Three Camps' part which are borrowed for both from 'Salute to Max Rayne'

  • Straight up dropped my jaw! It would be nice to see the actual performance in their uniforms.

  • Christ on a fucking bike! speechless!!!

I hate my drum corp!!!! :O)

  • o shyt. wat style is this?

  • This is a pipe band drum corps.

So the style, I suppose, is "Scottish."

  • man how do those snare drums sound so nice? O_o

  • High tension kevlar top heads, and there is a snare on both the top and bottom heads. They have to be loud to be able to cut through the pipes. I just wish I could hear the tenor/bass section in this video.

  • What can you say to that? WOW! Absolutely fantastic!!

  • I get to see these guys in August, am going over to Scotland to compete in the worlds :)

  • Agreed BurningG - the mic is picking up a lot of high freq. echo from the 4 story brick walls on all 4 sides that you don't hear in real life

  • lol jim is always relaxed...but going a 320 mph.

  • its cause hes like mastered his tecnique executing the most with the least amount of energy

  • Thats what Side drumming is all about there.... you just nailed it!!! :o)

  • Jim has one of the best styles around. There is a group of drummers who all can be called the best, Gordon Brown, Eric Ward, Stephen McWhirter, Reid Maxwell, Keith Orr, Andy Scullion, Chris McNicoll, Jacob Jorenson, David Ross etc etc etc

the fancy stuff is nice, but it doesnt count. in the ring there is only a hairs breadth between 1st and 6th.

Will they do it in 2009?

We are gonna have a hell of alot of fun finding out!!!

  • also you can see a lot of dutharts rudiments within this fanfare not surprising really just thot i'd mention it

  • sfu may be the current champs but thats only cos shotts nd dykehead decided to make a statement this year about how that things need to change becuase its gettin a bit stale and things are moving laterally instead of forward

  • wow.the coolest drum show i've seen yet

  • omfg omfg its so clean!!

  • Go to 7.00 minutes. He drops his stick but is lucky enough for it to bounce to his body and he catches it again.

  • Brilliant stuff! =)

  • How did I miss this one....?

  • Excellent solo, Saw it at the worlds concert. Good to see the man himself kilpatrick makes mistakes now and then. doesn't make me feel so bad now if i drop a stick!!??

  • holy shit!...how many tenors! anyone got boghall&bathgate drum core cowal 83?

  • These guys are quality, try watchin some of the dire attempts by the yanks.

  • Come on now; uncalled for. We Americans have skill & love Scotland as much as you.

  • You have some skill in your BEST bands only and thats cos you got more people in your country who play the pipes or drums. Plus that and the fact that your bands have like 90 pipers each so any mistakes made are covered up by the noise of the band. That's why i prefer scottish pipe bands. They prefer quality over quantity. But i suppose i can't leave victoria police pipe band out. Their playing is out of this world. Easily my favourite band. :D

  • well w/e we all know canadians are the best... sfu is current world champs : )

  • Yeah. I love sfu. I think they deserved to win it this year. But, i personally still prefer VPPB. That being said, i like how you think that being world champs makes your country the best at piping. In local civvie bands, i'd say that scotland would win if it was a contest. Hands down. But if it was a battle of the elite, canadians win. You inherited our culture and have MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of people. No wonder you have great grade 1 pipe bands. :D

  • Kick ass. Drum line. always love S and D. Drums/

  • unbelievable... full on pros.

  • There salute at the Worlds 08 was awesome!

  • CRAZY IT SOUNDS LIKE ONE SNARE..

  • its sopuse to sound like one snare ONE BAND ONE SOUND DHU

  • @Faststick yea man thts how its suppose to sound

  • @Faststick: That's the goal. :-)

  • @Faststick are you fucking kidding me??/

  • @Faststick I wouldn't go that far

  • that was really awesome ,fantastic ,and hard working .

  • this is one of the toughest salutes ive seen. the tenors have to be really careful not to hit it any harder than a light tap and the way the snares all sound like one drum is amazing.

(and im not trying to call them out on all they're imperfections...but in their cd laboum, if u listen closely you can hear them drop a stick...once in the middle and once aty the verry end.)

but shotts is one of the greatest pb in the world and is one of my faves.

  • That looks so fun!

  • TIGHT!!! I always loved this style but haven't seen a solid group til now! thanks for the great post!

  • wow

  • the backsticking at 5:00 ahs a really good groove to it.

  • hah hey i was there our band stayed there it was weet saw it at thre practise day before lol
