Her low notes are crisp!!! Wow! More amazement when she went to the higher notes! Definitely a heart felt song... She sang it like a pro and to think that she is not an american but a Filipina... So many talented singers in Philippines but sad to say that they have to get out of their country and be recognized outside before their own citizens recognized them. Filipinos are very physical attribute seeker... You should try to look at the talent and not how they look like... Cheers to Charice!

IF A PERSON FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY MESSED UP THE AMERICAN NATIONAL ANTHEM (WHICH SHE DID NOT ) MAYBE SHE GOT AN EXCUSE.TELL ME WHAT IS CRISTIN'S EXCUSE.AMERICANS SHOULD NEVER FORGET THAT SONG.ANY OTHER SONG YOU CAN ALWAYS TRASS IT BUT NEVER THE NATIONAL ANTHEM,YOU SHOULD GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND LEARN IT AGAIN.
Filipinos had been taught to respect their nat'l. anthem and their flag...well aside from arnel pineda and martin. so there's no difference if charice sang any national anthem
Cristina Aguilera , sings US national anthem , fck ! you don't know the lyrics , look at Charise from the Philippines but she knew it , hahhhaha shame on you Cristina :D
I highly recommend to Ms.CA pls do watch Charice's video where she sang the Star Spangled Banner. I'm pretty sure you will learn a lot to Charice the proper way of singing your national anthem perfectly with full of emotion and spirit of patriotism.
i can only imagine that if those American soldiers that fought and died next to there brothers in arm over Asia, can hear this. they will have tears running over there chicks and a profoundness of what a life sacrifice they have given to there nation if they could they will do it again, to die for your country is sweeter than to live a thousand years on this earth...this reminds me of there struggle...
there people have died next to your forefathers protecting each others lives, they share the fate of their American counterparts on the battlefield, in prisoner of war camps, they suffer, endured and died just to see your people and there people free, now please have respect for them, for your forefathers and for the brave man and woman who died protecting this nation under this same flag
for those who says that this amazing (Filipino) singer shouldn't sing this US national anthem in "public" should really think twice, and if they're really that patriotic they should know that history tells us of this brave nation from the (far east) who gave there lives, swear allegiance to protect Americans lives or there brothers in arms, have serve and protect this nation against all their enemies. from the civil war to modern day war..
Every American should hear Charice sing the SSB. She brings out the feeling of why we are proud to be a part of this country. Her version is spectacular.
feb.7,2011 mon 4:50a.m houston: now,i'm back to the future 2009 when charice sang this "STAR SPANGLED BANNER" so heartfully sang, emotionally rendered,so deep that it feels like it stirred my heart, that sent goosebumps. why, i ended up to view this 2009 video? coz of last night's NFL-XLV at Cowboy's dallas texas, when Christina Aguilera messed up the u.s.a. national anthem, but maybe she was under pressured thousands of fans, nervous wreck will really cut u off,ur forgiven Christina, Hail to Cha
Charice did a very very very good job. She sang it with dignity and respect!!! not like other singers who exaggerate it that ended up murdering the song..
they should have invited Charice to sing the national anthem at the super bowl instead of Christina A....she sounds a lot better than Christina A and she knows the lyrics...lol
@MrCuteguy1989 im with you dude!!! really... she messed up the lyrics! i don't care how singers murdered the music, but please the lyrics are too essential, it represents the song writers and millions of american for its freedom and liberty! hope singers must noticed that. and how amazing Charice then, take note she isn't american but she delivered the song so perfect!
We Filipinos provided you a place to protect mainland USA and in so doing, we exposed our sovereignty and security to external threats. Shame on those Americans who say shit to Filipinos. We fought and died side by side with Americans in World War II and in the Korean War. We were your most trusted ally. So don't be surprised if a Filipina can sing the Star Spangled Banner better than most americans...
@genlac1 dude don't let your Ego get the best of you....Yeah she's from the Filipinos and shes wonderful so of course she came to the U.S...It has nothing to do with you...LOL save your Jibber jabber!
The Philippines played hosts to American servicemen who served in the Vietnam war. The logistics, guns and ammos needed in the Vietnam war were transhipped thru these bases(Subic Naval Base, Clark Airbase, Camp John Hay Air Base, Wallace Air Base). We provided sanctuary to those wounded in the Vietnam war. The wounded servicemen were first flown to these bases in the Philippines to get medical attention before they were sent home.
Anybody can sing the Star Spangled Banner. As a matter of truth, my mom used to sing this when we were kids since they were required to sing it in school when they were young. By the way, if you don't know it, the Philippines used to be a Commonwealth of the USA just like Puerto Rico. But we opted independence. We are the most trusted ally of the US in the Asia-Pacific rim. The largest US naval base outside the US used to be in Subic Bay, Philippines.
The very first day I moved here in the US, I met African- Americans, Russian-Americans, Filipino-Americans, Japanese-Americans, Korean-Americans, Vietnamese-Americans, Canadian-Americans, Mexican-Americans, etc. I still have to meet an American-American! We have to admit that the USA is a mixture of all races. It represents the whole world as one. Come here in the US and you will find Palestinian-Americans, Iraqi-Americans, and they are never discriminated.
And as a matter of RACE, if you can't respect a country enough, where you are making a living(not only the U.S), just to sing the national anthem, then GET OUT. Such small minded commenters. Stay in your own country if you're going to make up such nonsense and selfish comments.
Why can't someone from the philippines sing the anthem? If they asked her, means its not bad to have her sing it, it was international day. And btw, if you live in the USA and a resident, you are an american. So you still have to sing US anthem, if not by pride in the country, atleast w/ RESPECT. Being an american is not the matter of whats in your blood. And if anything, people from the US, S. Korea, whatever else country, are the ones that helped her to where she is now. Open your mind!

Why the heck does a "Filipina" sings the national anthem?! She gave pretty neat rendition though. But this is the national anthem of america, so in essence, she can't dignify the anthem. She does not know the meaning or even close to it. I'm a filipino who lived in america, i did not bother or at the very least tried to sing this song because i'm not american. I just happen to speak the american language. What i know is the filipino national anthem in heart. This is so inappropriate!
@Raiisagani AMERICA WELCOMES EVERYONE AND ANYBODY THAT WANTS TO BE ITS FRIEND. Although we hold pride in our country we are not greedy to share it. On second hands; how do you even know if she can or can't define the anthem? Don't judge our friends because of your lacked educational judgments. I'm not a fan of Charice, but your comment just made me a fan. Thanks!
@Raiisagani what is so inappropriate about it? are you retarded? if ur living in another country you have to respect their anthem meaning you have to sing it as well or even know it. do you know the lyrics to it? im filipino as well residing in new zealand and i sing their anthem. btw i think its best if you just speak filipino pretty sure itll sound better..
@EKKY17 I said was "I lived" there, I didn't say i'm still living there. You can go sing whatever national anthem you want just to fit in you idiot but i won't. Don't say I'll sound better in Tagalog just because you can't understand even a neutral English. BTW, stupid pinoys like you are better off outside the Philippines. All you do is check out youtube and trash talk other people but you're never a taxpayer helping any country.
@Raiisagani for real? if i cant bloody understand "neutral" english then why the heck did i pass IELTS with a score of 8.5 fool. :) oh really? not a taxpayer, maybe you should know my status here in nz. :) hehe. i love how you called me an idiot. hah.
@ssyoki bakit ka naawa? mukha ba siyang kawawa? di u ba alam na maraming singer nangangarap kumanta diyan but they dont have the great chance? as for charice , she is perfect for the song coz she is the most talented girl in the world kaya she is all over the world to sing any song they will ask her to sing.peace

IF A PERSON FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY MESSED UP THE AMERICAN NATIONAL ANTHEM (WHICH SHE DID NOT ) MAYBE SHE GOT AN EXCUSE.TELL ME WHAT IS CRISTIN'S EXCUSE.AMERICANS SHOULD NEVER FORGET THAT SONG.ANY OTHER SONG YOU CAN ALWAYS TRASS IT BUT NEVER THE NATIONAL ANTHEM,YOU SHOULD GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND LEARN IT AGAIN.
julietcwalker1948 11 months ago
Filipinos had been taught to respect their nat'l. anthem and their flag...well aside from arnel pineda and martin. so there's no difference if charice sang any national anthem

MrPoorman11 11 months ago 3
there people have died next to your forefathers protecting each others lives, they share the fate of their American counterparts on the battlefield, in prisoner of war camps, they suffer, endured and died just to see your people and there people free, now please have respect for them, for your forefathers and for the brave man and woman who died protecting this nation under this same flag
MrPoorman11 11 months ago 2
for those who says that this amazing (Filipino) singer shouldn't sing this US national anthem in "public" should really think twice, and if they're really that patriotic they should know that history tells us of this brave nation from the (far east) who gave there lives, swear allegiance to protect Americans lives or there brothers in arms, have serve and protect this nation against all their enemies. from the civil war to modern day war..

feb.7,2011 mon 4:50a.m houston: now,i'm back to the future 2009 when charice sang this "STAR SPANGLED BANNER" so heartfully sang, emotionally rendered,so deep that it feels like it stirred my heart, that sent goosebumps. why, i ended up to view this 2009 video? coz of last night's NFL-XLV at Cowboy's dallas texas, when Christina Aguilera messed up the u.s.a. national anthem, but maybe she was under pressured thousands of fans, nervous wreck will really cut u off,ur forgiven Christina, Hail to Cha

they should have invited Charice to sing the national anthem at the super bowl instead of Christina A....she sounds a lot better than Christina A and she knows the lyrics...lol
MrCuteguy1989 11 months ago 144

The wounded servicemen were first flown to these bases in the Philippines to get medical attention before they were sent home.
genlac1 1 year ago 2
Anybody can sing the Star Spangled Banner. As a matter of truth, my mom used to sing this when we were kids since they were required to sing it in school when they were young. By the way, if you don't know it, the Philippines used to be a Commonwealth of the USA just like Puerto Rico. But we opted independence. We are the most trusted ally of the US in the Asia-Pacific rim. The largest US naval base outside the US used to be in Subic Bay, Philippines.
genlac1 1 year ago
The very first day I moved here in the US, I met African- Americans, Russian-Americans, Filipino-Americans, Japanese-Americans, Korean-Americans, Vietnamese-Americans, Canadian-Americans, Mexican-Americans, etc. I still have to meet an American-American! We have to admit that the USA is a mixture of all races. It represents the whole world as one. Come here in the US and you will find Palestinian-Americans, Iraqi-Americans, and they are never discriminated.
genlac1 1 year ago
sorry but this is the best anthem performance ever donot bother to compare it makes you look silly
davidmaren2000 1 year ago

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Why the heck does a "Filipina" sings the national anthem?!

Thanks!

@Raiisagani fag... it was better if u havent commented on this vid,..now they know how ignorant you are..
anyone can sing other nationalities national anthem,. that is how you show your respect for their country,..
PoppinChampagne88 1 year ago
@Raiisagani what is so inappropriate about it? are you retarded? if ur living in another country you have to respect their anthem meaning you have to sing it as well or even know it. do you know the lyrics to it? im filipino as well residing in new zealand and i sing their anthem. btw i think its best if you just speak filipino pretty sure itll sound better..
EKKY17 1 year ago
@EKKY17 I said was "I lived" there, I didn't say i'm still living there. You can go sing whatever national anthem you want just to fit in you idiot but i won't. Don't say I'll sound better in Tagalog just because you can't understand even a neutral English. BTW, stupid pinoys like you are better off outside the Philippines. All you do is check out youtube and trash talk other people but you're never a taxpayer helping any country.
Raiisagani 5 months ago
@Raiisagani for real? if i cant bloody understand "neutral" english then why the heck did i pass IELTS with a score of 8.5 fool. :) oh really? not a taxpayer, maybe you should know my status here in nz. :) hehe. i love how you called me an idiot. hah.

ssyoki 1 year ago
@ssyoki ... martin nievera is not a Filipino citizen pero pinayagan kumanta ng Philippine National Anthem nang laban ni Pacquiao... kaya kahit mali pagkakanta wala tayo nagawa... cguro dahil artist sila at sila ang napili ng organizers kaya sila ang kumanta... nevertheless, kailangan tayo maging pround dahil sa dami ng mga international recognized artists si Charice ang napili kumanta... let us just then support Charice and be thankful to organizers that makes Charice more famous... cheers!
bmgcomp 1 year ago 2
@ssyoki bakit ka naawa? mukha ba siyang kawawa? di u ba alam na maraming singer nangangarap kumanta diyan but they dont have the great chance? as for charice , she is perfect for the song coz she is the most talented girl in the world kaya she is all over the world to sing any song they will ask her to sing.peace
