@madarauchiha1218 yeah; I guess when people first found them the transparent portion of the head was damaged and lost. So, the placement of the eyes (the green 'balls' ) baffled scientists because the 'holes' for the eyes were so much lower than the eyes. The 'Barreleye Fish' was discovered in 1939 but was only recently filmed in it's natural habitat, finally solving the mystery.
