  • 3:00 He said. "Hi! I'm lion!" or "Hi! I'm Leon!"

  • Joik is a new thing for me, and i have to say that i feel that it is both beautiful and amazing to watch these people do it. at the same time, the amount of emotion they put into it can make them look and sound really funny. i love it, thank god for joik.

  • i just was noticing how much better of a vocalist this man is than tu pac

  • et loi loi loi

  • @rexnil It's "But that is what he actually is". His Joik kicks ass, btw.

  • really wonderful performance...really captures the spirit of the river and the wolf..inspiring!

  • 2:58 sounds likes he's molesting someone and liking it

  • lol does he have mange look at his hair

  • 2:45 interesting what psychiatrists would say...

  • There is a lot of magic and power in joik. Many years ago I did some Mongolian overtone chanting and passed into an altered state of consciousness. I had vision of myself in Tundra and when I opened my mouth, the bark of a reindeer was emitted. A herd of reindeer came and nuzzled me and welcomed me into their herd. Later I dreamed of being brought down in the snow by wolves. It was many years later I discovered my maternal genetic heritage was Sámi. Now I am very proud of my Sámi blood.

  • wtf ??

  • Being a personal good lawyerfriend of Mr Somby I must state this fact: This song is performed as a sami singing and teelling tradition called joik, and this particular song/joik is a tribute to the animal wolf. Its a strong, smart animal to whoom sami people always have shown great fear and respect. Ande performes this joik very strongly and impressive in a wolf-way...

  • I'd love to meet Ande Somby, he'd be so interesting to talk to. He's amazing.

  • my loins my loins my loins my loins my loins my loins my loins my loins my loins my loins my loins my loins my loins my loins my loins my loins

  • amazing! where how is he working with linzy lohan?

  • i think it's beautiful!

and this guy is actually very hot.

  • 2:44 he says "Hey mom"

  • If a Native American were chanting this, NObody would be laughing.

  • Bow wow wow ah wooo wahhh!

  • Wow, crazy/. I wish I understood the story he was telling with that wolf song. Was he turning into a werewolf and then back into a man? Was he watching his family grow then become old and die?

  • ur gay and dumb

  • @MauiBoyTrav I think along the same lines.. The wolf maturing into a fierce animal and then slowly withering away, like most things in nature. Life cycle stuff.

  • To those of you who enjoy Doctor Somby's vocals: Search YouTube for Vajas - Sparrow of the Wind to hear him with his band :-)

  • HHHHHHHEYAAAA LAYYYYLOOON lmfao

  • aahahahahahahah fillebagassa

  • I would like that in metal edition!

  • Sounds GREAT!! Real music from Lappland performed by a real sámi man!!!

  • crazay. i imagine this man being a genius

  • Ande Somby is a professor of cultural law I believe, and is a very active proponent of Sami rights.

  • i will not sleep well tonight =\

  • about 2:40 he starts freakin out all the way til the end xD

  • I have such a crush on this man...

  • SPARROW OF THE WIND!

  • I saw Professor Somby joik the wolf years ago at Nusultan Tuliakbaj's house in Tashkent. I have never seen such a performance. He actually turned into the wolf and ate my soul.

  • @aleksozolins ummmm. that's rad...

  • lol lol loool loool loool lol lol lol lol looool lool

  • To all you funny persons making joke of this guy: He is today working as a professor at a Norwegian Law school, having a phd degree in law and is not only a fantastic human but moreover a real soul of good art...And i love the sami people by the way...

  • @Zuperdead

And he is actually going to perform in Malcolm Mclaren's funeral (founder of Sex Pistols and "the father of punk"). Mclaren's son and Vivienne Westwood asked him personally to do this.....

  • @758sss I was there POWERFUL stuff..this guy sounded just like a wolf..haunting.

i think you have to witness it in the 'flesh'

by the way we sent him off in style! RIP MM

  • @Zuperdead loy loy loy nanoy.

lucky guy...good for him that he's in law school, he'll have money in his life. his children will not go without. but one thing about modern (young) people, is that they will mock the serious and what cannot be understood. it's just fun, it's nothing personal. and to you, sir, i bid you; loy loy loy nanoy.

  • @Zuperdead, but thats in Norway.. not in the real world.

  • @Zuperdead In Norway?? He can`t talk english..... professor or not

  • @Zuperdead Yaay, Joik is SO COOL! :D Been twice in Lapland and its such an awesome place! i like the song and the clothes too

  • @Zuperdead i like sparrow of the wind much better

  • must have been dropped in the toilet when he was small

  • show us where on the doll he touched you.

  • ahahahaha

  • I saw Professor Somby joik the wolf at a conference in San Francisco. It was one of the most powerful performances I've ever seen. When you joik something, you don't sing about it; you call it forth into existence. He became the wolf, like a shape-shifter. I'll never forget that moment. It was awe-inspiring.

  • q tembo ir a un concierto de estos ñatos.. jajajaja

  • I could be mistaken but I think I saw this guy in another video : "Sparrow of the Wind"....But if you're into joik Mari Boine and Adjagas are a must.

  • Yes, you're right, it's Ànde Somby in both of the clips.

He's by the way the father of Lawra Somby (Adjágas).

  • Ulla Pirttijarvi has an excellent wolf-joik on her new album. Very intense!

  • very true. i know ulla in real life :)

  • Noi means noi.

  • He's better than the American crap we get forced on us constantly.

  • DOING DOING DOING DOING LOL

  • *sigh*

  • look at all the morons below, its so awesome to laugh at other peoples culture isnt it?!?! dumbasses

  • we are sorry, but we can't help it. The urge is too overwhelming.

  • yeah its ok to laugh because hes white.. but what if he was some native african guy singing and playing some drums that would be racism if you laughed, yeah.

  • No that wouldn't be racist.

i laugh at everything that i think is funny idgaf if you're white, black, yellow. i don't care.

  • This is traditional Saami music. The Saami are 'white'.

  • noooo.... i didn't notice he was white

  • Okay...

  • Did you just come to this realization?

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • SO FUNNY

  • LOL

  • he has a lot of languages to speak.

not surprised he is weird to people

  • ...real...

  • ROFL

  • His putting much acting on this but I have heard a more relaced verson of the "demon stuff" is the wolf joik.

  • Love this one, played it at da club

  • Unbelievable performance...joiking at it's best. You feel it.

  • @DeepestSleep This is a joke compared to thohse who knows the art

  • I love the way he speaks English. It sounds so soft and cute!

  • not to sound stupid or idiotic but what is he singing @>@" any 1 mind to explain?

  • He speaks in Samish, the official language of the people living in northern Norway and Sweden.

  • Sounds more like Simlish.

  • I don't know what happened to your original comment, but you should show respect for other people's culture. You may not like this joik, but that does not give you the right to be disrespectful.

  • OMG! HAHAHA this guy needs an exorsism.

  • 80 tallet:)

  • you must be joiking.

He is the Saami of my salami sandwich made at the tree of pale.

may the joik be with you.

  • Joik associated with the Saami. I have some Saami heritage actually that was kept hidden until recently. I just don't understand why they hid it> I am trying to find more stuff on the Saami but it has been hard. Thanks so much for posting.
