Hawk is one of the biggest homer announcers of all time. He acts like a whiny baby whenever his team is losing. Listening to him call a game is nothing short of torture. His voice is annoying, and his repetitive "catch phrases" are just stupid.

The left-hand move to first is something you could probably call a balk on 50 percent of the time. Andy Pettite is a good example. Wether or not it's called a balk, is soley based on the first and third base umpires, because they're the only one with the angles to see if they broke the plane or stepped to far to the plate. Keep in mind that there's a 45 degree angle they can work with.
I saw this call live, and it was apparent that Joe went fishing...and they bit.

I've listened to alot of announcers and by far the worst I have heard is the hawk. It's okay to be a homer but to not say anything at all when bad things are happening to your team is unprofessional, his one job is to describe what is happening on the field and he can't even do that. And as far as buehrle goes, he always balks when he goes to first, it's just expected that no umpires will call it so that when somebody does call it they shit their pants.

The worst for me & I'm a Reds fan living in Chicago but the worst thing with Joe West was last season Sox & Royals at the Cell his crew mainly him & Angel Hernandez called 2 more phantom balks on Buehrle & Ozzie came out & was tossed loved hearing the rant of Ed Farmer & Daren Jackson on that I wish someone had that!!!

The left-hand move to first is something you could probably call a balk on 50 percent of the time. Andy Pettite is a good example. Wether or not it's called a balk, is soley based on the first and third base umpires, because they're the only one with the angles to see if they broke the plane or stepped to far to the plate. Keep in mind that there's a 45 degree angle they can work with.
I saw this call live, and it was apparent that Joe went fishing...and they bit.

I don't at all understand why people don't like Hawk. The guy gets paid by the White Sox to broadcast for the White Sox, he is a regional broadcaster, not a national broadcaster. If he was a national broadcaster and announced the way he did then I could understand why people wouldn't like him, but he isn't a national broadcaster. If you don't like Hawk then don't watch the Sox simple as that.

Baseball is my favorite sport, but it has the most unprofessional officials of any sport. Not in any other sport will you see the officials practically jump in the air when they throw someone out, or get centimeters from a coach's face while screaming at him. I realize part of it is tradition, but it needs to be reevaluated. Umpires these days have become very unprofessional. No one goes to a sox/indians game to see Joe West.

Yeah Joe West is terrible but that's pretty much stating the obvious. But Harrelson and co. are a disgrace to the broadcasting/journalism profession. I know it's the White Sox home broadcast and I'd expect any team's home broadcast to be geared towards said team, but at least be objective which these clowns never are and give credit where and when it's due.

I've listened to alot of announcers and by far the worst I have heard is the hawk. It's okay to be a homer but to not say anything at all when bad things are happening to your team is unprofessional, his one job is to describe what is happening on the field and he can't even do that. And as far as buehrle goes, he always balks when he goes to first, it's just expected that no umpires will call it so that when somebody does call it they shit their pants.
