  • quit bashing spencer he's just being honest and you guys are all butthurt about aaron leaving. but the members of the band you love are happier this way. no one likes seeing members leave and faith means different things to people, but as long as it keeps them good who the fuck are you to judge? peace and love :)

  • 13:20 wow you are incredibly weak. Dont even think about saying youre following God if you just are apathetic and lazy about it to the point you "live your life however you want" That's a really STUPID way to live, and you stand for nothing because you are too weak and feeble to stand for something

  • Spencer you little flake

  • i hate how he says hes a Christian but then says "if there is a god" multiple times...

  • @23boxcar182 It's because he's a weak crack addict

  • Wow I am so turned off by his comments. Aaron was by far the most talented person in the band. Him and Spencer playing off of each other is what made them so amazing and different. Spencer really comes off like a jerkoff.

  • Remember when you lost a best friend even though you went through about everything together wether it was you that cut the ties or not? It's the same thing here. Over glorifying them to not understand what they're going through is ridiculous. They're people like you and me and we lose some friends and gain new ones. What DID work no longer works, I'm sure we've all gone through this experience.

  • i just don't understand why he bashes aaron a little? i get that he wants to write stuff different than gillespie but watching old videos and going to shows multiple times.. they had an uncanny chemistry in both on-stage skills as well as writing music. they worked so well together and you could tell they were great friends.. i just wonder what happened? ....

  • Wow.... it's funny how many people are standing up for spencer..... he pretty much completely smashed God and aaron in this interview when he was the LAST ORIGINAL MEMBER in the band!!!! most of you are probably to young to know underoaths real sound and what they used to stand for! what ever..... this is lame......

  • @xsavagedrummerx he's not smashing god? why is everyone saying that? faith is based off of trust...you don't really need to trust if you just say 'oh yeah god for sure exists 100%' that's not how faith works. lol.

  • Spencer has rubbed off on me and influenced me over the years through his lyrics and music. I am more honest, smarter, more well spoken.........I could go on. The music he wrote got me through drugs, alcohol, family issues, suicidal thoughts and so much more. He is awesome. Thanks bro

  • Are u stonrs

  • This interview is filled with bitterness towards Gillespie and an agnostic view of existence. You can tell that Spencer is unsure of his own beliefs and I'm glad he finally cleared the air whether or not they are a "Christian Band." This really answers a lot of questions as to why Gillespie is no longer with Underoath and I applaud him for walking away. That being said, while UO still makes great music, it's not the same. Aaron's voice cannot be replaced in their music.

  • @aaronc777 I recently have been watching some of his more recent interviews and I can see that he seems like he's gotten a lot better. Maybe he went through a dull spot in his faith, Idk lol I just know he seems a lot more Christ-like

  • @aaronc777 I'm glad Aaron's voice isn't in the band. It was distracting and irritating and now they can make real music without his self righteous jesus bullshit.

  • @aaronc777 I agree 100%. I will be the first to say the Spencer is an incredible vocalist, especially live. But all this crap about Aaron being bad for the band because of "pressure to write clean vocals" is garbage. If they didn't like the way he did things, that's fine, he left. But all this crap about people not getting along doesn't even matter - he left, their sound changed, and what appealed to many people was gone. They have to be comfortable with themselves if they want their fans to be.

  • Yeah so I just lost a LOT of respect that I had for Spencer -___-

  • I wish everyone would fuck off with this Christianity bullshit. Religion doesn't make a band, if you listened to a single word he said you would know that they are creating music for the love of music, not to praise Jebus.

After listening to Spee I now realise that Underoath are truly a much better, happier band with Aaron gone and again it nothing to do with Christianity bullshit.

  • To see a bunch of religious people arguing scroll down further.

  • Spencer has the hottest bottom lip I've ever seen....he could growl and scream at me ALL FUCKIN DAY.

  • Spencer is a lyrical assassin. End of story. If any of you shit-talkers could do it better, maybe you'd be the one interviewed not the one passing judgement. Disambiguation was lousy....and BTW people change out band members all the freakin time it doesn't make them BAD people....he makes a very valid point. Aaron wanted something different and that causes terrible walls between members. It's like being married....they are STILL friends instead of hating each other. Well done Spencer!!!

  • I believe in another interview with Grant it was clarified that Tim, Chris, and James are still very close to their faith and consider themselves Christian... that needed to be said.

  • That is the tiniest fucking microphone I've ever seen...

  • People hating on Underoath Fuck you! i met spencer and he's a grate guy if you don't like what Underoath are going then go listen to something different?! How are they atheist >_<

  • Illuminati.....

  • Wow. Arrogant much?

"We will write better albums without him." That's a load of crap.

Aaron is amazing! You will not be better without him! Stop being so arrogant. He is not a bigger deal than we think he is. He is a great guy who loves God and plays music for Him.

  • @t9g1239 Doesn't really sound like he's being arrogant, he said they wanted different things and with the whole band now having the same idea it's easier (better) to write songs. Aaron is amazing, but it's understandable that it's a lot harder to write with conflicting ideas. Besides, he even said they're still friends.

  • Listen everybody...Salvation is a personal thing... they understand that you should worry about what God thinks of them....and thats it........ STOP judging people... they write positive music..PERIOD...and on a personal level they believe in God... fair to me.... so shut and stop being ass holes and judge them

  • Why on earth is Spencer so concerned about Underoath being a better band without Aaron looks like he holds a vendetta against Aaron, and Christians shouldn't cuss especially if you're representing Christ publically you shouldn't dishonour his name like thst, Spencer I'm sorry but what you're doing is a terrible disservice to all the original loyal fans of underoath, the Christians, we were the ones who told our secular friends to give you a listen to we bought your earliest records please stop!

  • Spencer tells us to go and listen to what Aaron is doing now and what He is doing to Underoath now, he says that from looking at underoath now and comparing it with The Almost we can see what the problem in the band was while Aaron was in it. It's clear to me what the problem was As I pointed out Aaron wanted to Keep Underoath Christian while his band mates wanted "totally different things" as Spencer put it. Spencer it seems only really wants fame and money even at the expense of his faith.

  • it seems to me that Spencer and the rest of the band members have been trying to weed out Christianity from the band for several years, Aaron it aapears was the final trace of Christianity in the band and now that "he is gone" as Spencer puts it, there is nothing preventing them from turning this great Christian band into a wordly outfit, Spencer shame on you, I love Underoath I love who they represent and for you to do this to my beloved band, well its just despicable its and outrage.

  • The only stress and discomfort that existed while Aaron was in the band was caused by the fact that Aaron's strong Christinaity clashed with Spencer's compromising faith and dying spirituality, we can see that Aaron is a devout Christian from his current project (The Almost) and clearly we can see that Spencer has a very underdeveloped Christinaity given the statements he makes and given his refusal to share his faith. Aaron wanted a Christian band while Spencer wants Chistians in a band. sad...

  • wow.

  • Ohk, watching more of this video ... What Spencer is saying (plus that cuss word!) makes me not even want to listen to their new crap! UGGGGG and I am the BIGGEST underoath fan in the world! I have all cds all signed and met everyone in person had a personal show with Aaron!

  • @localdrummerjd3 Unbunch your panties dude. He's not denouncing his faith. He's just saying that as a band, they're all Christians, but they're just a band playing music. And the "cuss" word, seriously, you're gonna be the judge of him? Next time you sin, I'll be sure to call you out on it, if that's how you roll.

  • He is making it sound like Aaron was a horrible person in the band and they are finally happy now that he left! ...... WTF????

  • underOATH with dallas and aaron - fucking legendary

underOATH with spencer and aaron - still cool..

underOATH with spencer, no dallas, no aaron - just fucking noise. i'd rather throw my pots and pans down the stairs. and listen to them clank.

  • He disappoints me... Hmm, that must be the effect of crack cocaine.

  • Dallas was WAY better than u Spencer and he always will b!

  • I am Christian literally because of his scream in some with seek forgiveness. that song has been my anthem for almost 3 years now (January 20th) I will never, ever doubt spencers heart or actions. without him I would probably not be a christian today. and I know that true for a lot of people (Ross Kenyon ex confide vocalist)

He never said he wasn't a christian. He said he loved music. and he is pretty freakin great at making it.

    love underoath!

  • I'm pretty sure he said "if there is a God" twice....

  • So many points he made are the cold hard truth: One, so many bands have got on the bandwagon with labeling themselves a Christian band. And think about this: they have been badgered constantly about Aaron, and Spencer finally spoke the truth. In some sense, it's like a bad divorce-you will always love you ex in some way but it's time for you both to move on. I think that's what he was getting at when he spoke of Aaron's departure. NO ONE WILL KNOW WHAT THE TENSION IN THE BAND WAS REALLY LIKE.

  • Continued from above (I had a lot to say. After all, there's quite a bit in the interview):

And about his comments on religion, I think that UO still spreads a positive message, they just don't preach. And I can completely relate to his situation - I consider myself religious, but I, like many, began to play music for the love of music. The love for God came into my life later, for I had to find it for myself.

  • he keeps contradicting himself when he says if there is a god....

  • he's just honest... knows being called a "christian band" is a really important thing and knows tat they are not at that level so he just prefers to take God out of the way... do I think is a big mistake? hell yesss... but he's just being honest..

  • i think they didn't want Aron on the band because he was the only one who was truly CHRISTIAN, but its fine i still love UO but respect so much more Aron Gillespie for what he is doing right now!!!!

  • @jesusoath You obviously have never met Aaron, nor talked to the people who are close with him.

  • @loveisreal777 nope thats why i posted "I THINK" dude!

  • @jesusoath I think youre ignorant, spencer is a christian, they ALL ARE. Aaron wanted to persue his own interests and HE LEFT the band. How do i know this? Because i ASKED HIM MYSELF

  • @TheSchmiders DID HE SAID THAT ON THIS VIDEO? he said twice: "if there is a God". As a christian would you say that? and yes i may be an ignorant I'm just giving my opinion dude just like everybody else. Thank you!

  • @jesusoath Well that's pretty fucking presumptuous of you don't you think? I think you need to grow up and realize there is a world outside of your little "jesus" box.

  • @jesusoath i 'studied up' on the whole aaron issue. He left cause he wanted to

  • im a christian, but come on people christains shouldnt judge anyone. only God can judge.

  • spencer is a douche..i used to really like UO years ago but my taste has evolved and i just was curious to see how there doing and found this and to hear him bad mouth aaron ... hes jelious and rides this fucking high horse..yeah aaron mabey got a lot of credit that mabey he didnt do but he promoted the band so well...and from a couple interviews iv seen UO wont be around much longer..they all complain about being on the road and forget about what its like to do what you love

  • "If there is a God, he's the only person that should be telling anyone to do anything, not me." Really Spencer? Matthew 28:19: Go ye therefore and teach all nations. If you take the stage and claim to be doing so in the name of Jesus Christ, don't preach against his word.

  • he said that he was a christian. but then later he said "if there is a God..." twice. if you are going to call yourself a christian then have faith in God!! and he also said that God is the One who said be telling people to do stuff, not him... God calls you to share the Gospel. i understand we're not perfect but sitting on the fence is dangerous.

  • Underoath's newest album is the best one they've released. They've broke through that emo/screamo barrier that was keeping them back for so long. Daniel Davison (Underoath's new drummer and former drummer for Norma Jean) is a GREAT addition to the band.

  • Aaron IS a big deal! haha

  • @MrSleepinggiant88 did Aaron write the guitars? no. did Aaron write the bass? no. did Aaron write lyrics? on contrary to what most people think. no. act of depression to changing of times Dallas wrote lyrics. they're only chasing safety Spencer & Aaron wrote half&half. define the great line? Spencer. lost in the sound? Spencer. don't believe me? they're plenty of interviews here on youtube of proof to any rebuttal you might have on that. said in this vid 2. his job was drums & his short melodies

  • HAHA write a better record...without aaron???? Have you listened to your newest record? It's terrible!

  • @MrSleepinggiant88 what? have a problem with mature, technical, smarter music? or has the loss of the pop sound just gotten to you? i love old underoath do not get me wrong but new underoath has an amazing new sound to offer that people with a simple pallet cannot digest.

  • laying into aaron prety heavy aint he?

  • I have so much more respect for spencer after watching this! Awesome band! Awesome dudes! Love UO!!!

  • It's a shame to see him back on cocaine

  • @bajaros79 How do you know he is back on cocaine? Do you have any proof? Just wondering out of curiosity and so I can have some definite answers, I'm not trying to sound like a jerk if that's what I sound like asking the question :P

  • @bajaros79 yeah I'm interested in knowing how you know he's relapsed? I respect Underoath and Aaron regardless of what religion they are. But I personally don't think that Spencer would go back to drugs. However, you seem to believe otherwise. This is a very interesting and serious accusation. Care to elaborate?

  • hmmmm =/

  • 10:49- to be honest, i get the same feeling when i listen to Pink Floyd and led zeppelin than when i listen to underoath. so to Spencer, you've completed your goal in my eyes

  • If you love music and you love God, you should automatically be drawn to share God through your music. That's what I do. I share my music for both reasons. Of course I want to play because I love to play but I also feel drawn to share God through the music I love to play.

  • @iamtheSoup that's not true at all. you sound sooo closed minded. typical.

  • what a tiny microphone.

  • Well this was depressing

  • He has stoner written on his poofy eyes.

  • I gained so much respect for Spencer in this interview. I'm atheist but I respect peoples choices in life so I think it's awesome that he isnt pushing it in peoples throats.

  • @MALSIV agreed

  • "then we wrode disamburaugara is a ray retter recod"

  • sooo besides all the christian hoopla...does anyone fuckin know whats up with the ring tat?

i think its incredibly odd and ugly. just sayin.

  • At least he's being honest. Let's not turn this into Team Aaron and Team Spencer. Aaron's doing great things and Underoath is doing their own thing. They're just touching lives in different areas.

  • underoath is so influential on my life <3 their music is amazing and they are one of the most talented bands of all time. :)

  • sounds like he wanted Aaron gone.

  • I give it one more album before he says they are atheist

  • @jeffhxc319 Would you still listen to them?

  • @Outermainstream If their music is still good, yes. But I was not a fan of their new record at all.

  • @jeffhxc319

Also, I think in another interview he hints that some of the members are non-believers so I do wonder what lies ahead with them.

  • @jeffhxc319 why do you say that? I'm new to this band but i'm just curious

  • @111whitepony111 listen to there song some seek forgiveneess others escape!! it says "jesus im ready to come home" there very first two albums are all to GOD!!!!!

there song a love so pure repeatedly says "jesus christ, i love you" they also have a song spirit of a living god! maybe there most recvent albums arent necessairly to god. listen to there song to bright to see to loud to hear. thats a recent song and its TO GOD!!!. if that doesnt open your eyes, your lost cause. k thank you.

  • He has such a level perspective on everything. Huge respect for that.

I don't think Underoath have changed too much since Aaron left, the new album is probably my favourite of theirs. I think Spencer is a brilliant vocalist, both singing and screaming. They have such a massive influence on our music too.

  • at the same time the new songs are dope, off the hook,

  • I HONESTLY FEEL ARRON HELD THE BAND TOGETHER, THE MUSIC WAS DOING THINGS FOR THE GENERATION AND GENERATIONS TO COME, ARRON NEVER FORGOT WHAT AND WHO HES DOING IT FOR APPOSE TO MAKING SIMPLY HIT RECORDS NOT SAYING ANY NAMES BUT, U GET THE PICTUR SPENCE.

  • I used to like Underoath because they were different. They had the perfect mix of screaming and singing with Aaron.

  • i think that Aaron gave the band the "Christian band" name more than the rest of them.

  • 12:30

  • i cant imagine what it is going to sound like If UØ's next record is better than disambiguation.

  • Okay. Wow. Thats bullcrap.

I stopped watching after like 5 minutes because Spencer was ticking me off by putting Aaron down. If he's really his friend, he would have kept his true thoughts to himself and not have said anyting bad about Aaron. And besides, Aaron was the best part of the band. He brings the best message and story to the band and why they're (or were) Christian.

    That ticks me off.

  • @Madichamp Think of it, aaron wanted to do his sound and the rest wanted a different sound, now look what they are doing now. its good. they all get what they want. we are just fans.

  • hi

  • imo this is great. i'm glad to see aaron gone as well. i agree with what he said..pretty much about everything and being a fan you could kinda see that aaron was holding them back from doing what they want..you could also see that they aren't a christian band like so many label them. i never thought of them as a christian band either.

  • i love arron but true fans wont stop listening turst us spence we love you

  • I find it ironic that the same guy that told us countless times to follow jesus..is encouraging us to follow whatever we want to follow.."If theres a God" ... There is definitely a God who used you to use your gifts to be a tool to bring the hurting to him..praying for my bro in Christ spencer..

  • I really dont give a shit about what spencer says. Dallas is the real true frontman of underoath. without any of the original members, its not even underoath anymore.

  • Really, Spencer? You're not a "Christian" band? Then explain why you said on the live DVD in Philadelphia that you are "A band that stands on stage in the name of Jesus Christ".

  • @CrankMastaT yh i agree, after this I dont even wanna listen to their new music anymore

  • @CrankMastaT been a long time since then

  • @jaronphoto Be that as it may, he's not an original member of Underoath. Underoath was formed as a Christian band. Spencer didn't come in until "They're Only Chasing Safety". Underoath was together, performing, and touring LONG before he came in. Who is he to say that Underoath isn't "Christian"? That's part of what Underoath was founded on. I'm not discrediting Spencer as an artist. He's gifted in writing, and in performing. But as a person, he's despicable.

  • @CrankMastaT in my opinion the singer represents the band and im starting to think that aaron was one of the or lets say THE only main reason for underoath to 'preach' at their shows, i dont think he said hes not a christian anymore, he just wants to make music without having to tell people something about religion. sure hes not a original member, but neither are the others since aaron left.

  • @jaronphoto Chris Dudley is an original member, technically. Spencer goes into that in this video. It's still the principle of the matter, though. Underoath's music has saved some people, brought people closer to God, and resparked their faith. I'm included in that group. So to hear him try to renounce their Christianity. Furthermore, their music wasn't always "preaching". Their music was about real life experiences, along with faith.

  • @CrankMastaT -Well obviously the rest of Underoath is ok with it if they don't have a problem with him saying stuff like this. Just saying.

  • @Pinaki9536 Which is another problem. They interview Spencer alone. God knows if he's trying to speak for everyone when he's the only one who feels that way.

  • @CrankMastaT because labeling your self a christian is a double edge sword in the world of ministry and underoath has come to realize that. give this interview another good listen.. and i mean REAL good listen. hes not denouncing his faith. you have a better chance on really connecting spiritually with an atheist by just hanging out with them then trying to preach to them or even speak of Christ around them. You can't save everyone, and the glory of one coming to Christ is all on God not us

  • @CrankMastaT because jesus christ is fake. lololololol

  • @CrankMastaT Because they aren't Christian Metal. They are Christians doing metal. :)

  • YES NOTTINGHAM!!!!!

  • I've just lost all respect for Spencer Chamberlain. Saying that the band is better without his "friend". Saying Underoath made a "mistake" in labeling themselves as a Christian band. "If there is a God". At first I was heartbroken that Aaron left. But if this is what Underoath has become, it's probably better that he left. He does wonders glorifying God on his own. He doesn't need this kind of attitude dragging hom down.

  • Hahahahahahahaha......what's sad is that you think the bible is 100% infallible. You've been duped people. The bible is way deeper than black and white. Most people will never understand that. You don't want to know the truth. You've just accepted what was told to you by preachers, teachers, etc. Rude Awakening is coming for ALL religions. God Loves All and is in All. All your books and religions are man made..and only give you a glimpse. Search it out for yourself.UO Greatest band out!

  • @metaltildeath4eva you get like ten thousand thumbs up. holy shit, i love you broski.

  • this guy has a ton of stuff wrong

  • @OutOfShame Really? So.....you know this guy? You know his heart? OH!!!.....you must be one of those people who think the bible is really what you think it is. I get it now.

  • @metaltildeath4eva yeah thats what i believe in, and im not ashamed to say that :), but i was talking mainly about how he bashed Aaron during this interview. But yes to the bible question, that is what i believe :)

  • fuck wit me bitch.

  • Hey does everyone on this page like weeners or something? he obviously was just trying to have respect for peoples beliefs. why don't you all go listen to some black metal and remind yourself of all the horrible things catholics did to "pagans" in the name of god? I'm agnostic, but I'll tell ya one thing I know, and that's that christians can sometimes be the most ignorant disrespectful motherfuckers out there.

  • @RichardIsAlive Hahahahahahah...Exactly. Can I get an Amen!

  • the way spencer said the sentence about "if there is a God". the context that he used is like speaking to the interviewer not being a christian.

  • Lost all respect for Spencer. I don't want to speak against Underoath, but I've definitely lost respect in Spencer.

  • @Maxman0023 why do you say that?

  • From what I understand Aaron wanted to be a vessle for god. He wanted to use the music to bring people closer to god, but the rest of the Underoath members from what Spencer is saying just loves to play the music and be inspirational. Spencer has said before that they are Christian, but they play music about life and hardships. I'm not religious, but I find underoath amazing. I find other meanings in their lyrics and they have helped me get by in a different way. We all love them let them be.

  • btw 4 those ppl who r stuck wit da argument dat Spencer is unsure of his beliefs cuz he says "if there is a God" all need 2 take a college course in rhetoric or dust off ur Bible or sumthin cuz yall r talkin like a bunch of retards! jus cuz he says dat doesnt mean hes a hyprocrite all Christs followers had doubts! no1 on earth can b 100% sure dat God exists cuz no1 has actually seen God! Its only through faith alone Heb 1:1 "Now faith is bein sure of wat we hope 4 n certain of wat we do not see"

  • Also, when Spencer said if there is a God. I think he was saying that as a whole for the population. If there is a God, I hope "we" as in the whole did not piss him off. I think he's saying that each person has their own beliefs and not everyone believes the same thing. It's your decision to believe in God. No one else's. Unless you let people force it down your throat just as people will try to do with Alcohol. Religion is just as dangerous as Drugs, Media, or anything else.

  • @bebop0409 OMGD!!! Thank you! Thank you! I'm glad at least someone gets it!

  • Everyone who has posted is pretty much stupid. Do not let a band lead you to God. It's not a band's job to lead you to God. They get paid for music. Not how many God points that they can score. You all piss me off so much. Be on fire for Jesus because you are on fire for Jesus, not Underoath and ABR and all of these other christian bands. Appreciate their music and appreciate God because of what he did for you! I agree also they are a better band. Get off of Aaron's dick he is not that amazing!

  • what the fuck?! im jewish and my favorite bands are underoath (with aaron), TDWP and august burns red. so why the hell are people involving religion so much? cant you all just enjoy the fucking music? people here become religous because of a band that might break appart anytime, and then their lives are wasted for shit.. Stop being ignorant and if you want to be religous, thats cool but dont fucking blame it on a band or its beliefs.

  • this isnt the spencer i remember

  • @gnarlytre You're right this is the spencer who is speaking to you as an adult and not as a religion crazed psyco or a scene kid.

  • No worries, God doesn't keep score. He could care less about what music you like I would think He cares more about what you believe in your heart than what kind of music gets you pumped, so don't worry about it.

  • Aaron was definitely the move voiceful of Underoath and its christian roots. Chris, James and Tim are very christian, just they keep to themselves. Grant and Spencer are just so whiney about it. It's not the Spencer show, it's an underoath show. I've always preferred Dallas. Fuck spencer and the new Underoath. Such cunt.

  • Aaron was the only thing holding this band together, and Spencer is stumbling around words trying to say we don't believe in god, Aaron sucked being in the band, illuminati, ego, sold out

  • actually you should not question on your faith or doubt thats spells trouble

  • i love this interview and spencer for being honest. for anyone ranting about his faith, who cares? seriously. this is an artist, not a preacher. in my opinion it's hard to argue against that. no offence intended... but take it if you must.

  • @Degslon a lot of people are disappointed because this band was very inspiring and led these people to Christianity... that's the main reason why a lot of people are upset. It bothers me too, but I do agree with you. I am glad he is honest and not pretending to be something he's not.

  • it's weird that he says that the dynamic didn't work.. because it obviously did. they wrote 3 amazing records together... and they always seemed to get along great in past interviews and on stage. they even said they all loved each other. spencer struggling with drugs may have driven a wedge between them.... i'm not sure. i don't think him saying 'we write better records without him' is bad though.. that's just what he believes is true.

  • @111whitepony111 agreed. Define the great line more than worked.... lost in the sound of separation more than worked lol

  • all you aarron fans I am A.G. fan til the death i love aarron and U.O. the same and i honestly think that the new sound without aarron is awesome and like he said i think they would rather be friends rathar be in a band together and hate each other ... remember they are people too and they do this because its what they want do for us not cause they have to make music for us !!!!

  • It's kind of sad to see where Underoath is going. In an interview with Aaron Gillespie he says it became a job rather than a calling, or a way to preach Gods word. I think this goes for the whole band at this point but hey, im just a fan ;]

  • He said he doesnt consider underoath a band untill The Changing of Times?....isnt that like spitting in Dallas's face?,,..The Hell? Some of Dallas's best lyrics were written on Cries of The Past and Acts of Depression. I guess this is the reason why i havnt payed alot of attention to Underoaths latest album.

  • spencer comes off as straight up ignorant in this interview. that's cool if they had their differences, but aaron in a lot of ways made underoath who they are (or at least who they were, before they went in a different direction). aaron was the total package. sick drumming and great background vocals, and a lot of people loved underoath because aaron was such a huge part of it. i won't even get started on the christianity thing. HUGE loss of respect for spencer after watching this.

  • Ok so he said that they're all Christians but then he's doubting God's existence!

  • I can totally vibe with him. the reason he feels this way is because he has had the chance to see the world and how messed up things are. the whole planet is corrupted via the media, music, global bankers..just everything. he definatly woke up. he believes in a supreme being. i personally do not think HE feels the way he did back in the chasing safety days...just my opinion

  • just because these guys are "celebrities" doesnt mean they aren't still human and mortal men. people can make mistakes still, and here it was just so happened to be caught on tape. please dont be judgemental, we are all human.

  • ha i do have both of those eps!

  • I still have respect for Spencer. He's straightforward and doesn't dance around the question and bullshit. Ya, some of it did come out as harsh, but at least he wasn't being a phony shmuck. In my opinion anyhow.

  • this is disappointing. i unfortunately just lost respect for underoath watching this. what is so wrong with becoming a Christian band on fire for God, sharing His love with your fans? i feel like the tension in the band was due to the fact that Aaron wanted to glorify God in their music, and no one else was on board with that idea. thank you Aaron Gillespie for sticking to what you believe and for taking a stand! i love hearing your worship in the Anthem Song album. keep fighting the good fight.

  • quit bitchin'

  • how can it EVER be a mistake to call yourself a christian (band)? EVER?

  • "We all write songs about life, we just sing them different.

You sing the words but you don't know the song,

And you expect us all to sing along, how selfish"

  • No the band is definitely better without Aaron they actually sound like how I always wanted them to sound for the new record.

  • So discouraging to me.. "if there is a God" ? People who believe in God don't talk like that. I don't care if he's trying to be "universal" but that shows a lack of faith.. and yes, you can totally make music for the sake of music.. but if you are Christ followers, not using your widespread fame to share the gospel.. you're doing it wrong. It's sad to see that Spencer is the one who needs to be reached out at (again). Hopefully Christ becomes more clear in their understanding.

  • eh, spencer is a chill dude.

i can understand why he wants to fight the label of "christian band" away from the underoath name but i see no reason why he feels he should...he has fans that love him and his lyrics...what more is there to gain by being vague on what the genre of the band is? be who you are bro, christian or not your actual fans will respect your honesty.

  • @TheTOBster87 I agree!

  • not to happy with there only chasing safty spencer thats one of my favorite albums of all time cant wait for more to come out underotaths always going to be my favoirite band i love a metal band that can be hard and thrashing but still stay under the lord underoath for life!

  • "If there is a god" meaning not to put anyone elses views down. Which is what a christian should do. Believing in a god doesn't mean you cant respect other peoples opinions.

  • OH yea I WAS AT THE ALASKA SHOW!!! FUCKING AMAZING!
