Mustelids often get caught in this type of trap so the fact that that did not happen on this occasion might just be luck. What in fact you have here is the equivalent of tying a wild pig to a tree and shooting it, then saying you are fitter than the pig. All you have done here is present the Marten with lunch. No more.
