Jerry is an inspirational climber and a great example to everyone of what physical training and positive thinking can produce in harmony. Not just the best climber IN THE WORLD "back in the day" but consistently top-world-class for 20 years. And it's so pleasant to see him around town, too :))))))
Go on Jerry! Burn someone off! (He really ought to be known as "The Joker"...)
At his peak, Just like Fawcett, he was undeniably the best rock climber in the world. He climbed the hardest climbs, did the hardest repeats, won competitions against the likes of Tribout and legrande, le'mesestrel, et al and established boulder problems like the dominator years ahead of their time.
The name of this video is, "On the Rocks", circa early 1980's, narrated by newscaster Paula Zahn, featuring Tony Yaniro on Paisano Overhang, Suicide Rock, CA and Equinox at Joshua Tree; Steve Hong on Sphinx Crack, South Platte, Colorado; Bill Price on Grand Illusion, Sugar Loaf, CA and The Pheonix, Yosemite, CA; Jerry Moffat seen here, Skip Geurin on Animal Magnetism, Split Rock area of Colorado with guest appearances by John Gill on his Ripper Traverse,...
...and the late Warren Harding wearing his famous BATso t-shirt. I'm sure I missed a few but I actually bought this VHS video for $60 from Colorado back then! It has since been lost. You can still find bits and pieces of it here on YouTube under "Tony Yaniro on Paisano Overhang (Suicide Rock, CA)".
