  • such an underrated game. gorgeous music too.

  • It took me almost one month to get past this dragon, a game never stumped me like this, talk about shame..

  • Did they use the sprite in this game for Super Ghouls'N'Ghosts flying demon that snatches the princess?

  • this and killer instinct raped all

  • this game was too awesome back then. really great game.

  • So this is where Firebrand came from...

  • @migsrebsaber If you're basing yourself off of UMVC3, sorta;

This series is where he comes from, but instead of actually basing Firebrand in UMVC3 (or SVC Chaos for that matter), they base him off the regular Ghouls n' Ghosts Red Arremer enemies. They're the same thing, but they behave alot differently. There's so many abilities in this game they could've given him or at least based moves off of in UMVC3... but nope.

  • @LordTyphoon The UMVC3 Firebrand is based of Gargoyle's Quest, The SVC Chaos Red Arremer was based of the Ghost n' Goblin Red Arremer. Really wished they used at leas the special attacks out of Demon's Crest though.

  • when the fuck is this gonna be on wii vc??? jesus christ

  • @DeafForever666 i know right capcom or nintendo you guys are wasting your freakin time not realsing demon's crest on the wii virtual console in fact you capcom and nintendo havent even released any virtual console games at all pick the pace capcom and nintendo you guys already re-released gargoyle's quest for the 3ds virtual console now your need to re-released demon's crest on the wii VC stop tourturing us capcom and nintendo for not re-releasing any virtual console games at all

  • @DeafForever666 and please please pretty please nintendo and capcom re-release demon's crest on the wii VC you think were joking for having any virtual console games at all re-release the god damn demon's crest game already what the hell is the hold up and while your at it capcom and nintendo re-released gargoyle's quest 2 as well do you hear us capcom and nintendo re-released demon's crest for god sake

  • cool

  • I still play this game on my snes XD such a badass game

  • a new demons crest would be pretty fucking sick. theyve just gotta give him that sick dive move he has in umvc3

  • I gotta say that this game beats all.

  • Splendid game! :D

  • I'm a scary gargoyle on a tower that you made with plastic power.

  • Gorgeous graphics.

  • Wish I could play this... Currently playing Gargoyle's Quest on my 3DS and it's pretty good. I had forgotten the difficulty of the older games, and I actually like that.

  • @mysticalknightofjack I consider this to be a reboot of the gargoyle's quest games

  • OMG i'm gonna cry : ') i used to love this game and my super nintendo still working!!!

  • I used to play this game when I was like 7. It scared the hell out of me. XD

  • Lets hope the recent comeback of classic Gargoyle's quest to 3DS brings life to a new Demons Crest game adventure or possibly a remixed one like the psp's Ultimate ghosts n goblins (graphically) fpr PSN & XBLA in 2012

  • Best intro screen in all of existence, and the music is so beautiful only foolish people don't like it :3

  • @7xXColdFireXx12 Gotta agree there.

  • @7xXColdFireXx12 And 3 are among those fools.

  • @AcolyteSilene Indeed. WE MUST BURN THE HERETICS D:<

  • This game had excellent graphics for it's time, one of the best games that I have ever played... and the music from the first stage stills give me chills on my back TwT

  • lol where is Arthur?

why he attack his family? xDD

  • a great classic game, hate to admit it UMVC brought me back to this game I can't believe I died at the start lol I forgot you have to make the dragon follow you. lol

  • Damn the SNES really did have good music for their games. So eerie how shit is

  • easily Capcom's answer to Castlevania yall agree?

  • @natraan this would have been better

  • Best SNES game ever. Period.

  • @LordTyphoon yeah it did suck sf vs snk2 is one of my favs :) I really enjoyed myself with tht game

  • Ultimate marvel vs capcoom brought me here lol I totally forgot about this game lol so many memories tho

  • @Shioni16 Haha, damn straight; first appearance from Firebrand since the SNES days (except SVC Chaos, but that game sucked ass)

  • @LordTyphoon it was ok for me...Zero appears on that game from megaman zero :D

  • @Shioni16 Thats hilarious, me too, I was checking out the IGN page and then wiki'd it

  • Just goes to show that all you need to save the world's a pair of anklets and wristbands..

  • This game is an alternate version of megaman

  • Demon's Crest and the Castlevania games are both amazing. If you like one I'd be pretty surprised if you didn't enjoy the other.

  • Thumbs up because UMvC3 got you here.

  • am i the only that jumped onto the items you got when you beat the bosses? lol XD

  • this game took so many ours of my life.. and i regret none of the loss.. this and actraiser..

  • @TheTraveler12 I think maybe you should have spent a couple of those hours on your English homework. Maybe then you would know how to spell hours.

  • @TheSmackerlacker thank for the reply my friend. not that I wan't typing at an odd HOUR for myself. Way to pick out the single spelling error in my post. I'm surprised you didn't point out that I didn't capitalize the word I.

  • @TheTraveler12 wasn't

  • @TheTraveler12 Hey, here's an idea. Typing like you don't have a clue, IS a big deal. Crazy, right? Why should the way that your portray yourself to the world affect the way people perceive you, right?

From the fact that you type like a buffoon and defend doing so, I can discern three things.

Thing one. You are a buffoon.

Thing two. You act like a buffoon.

Thing three. You like being a buffoon.

Also, you forgot to capitalize "thanks" and "not", and you forgot the "s". What hour is it now?

  • @TheSmackerlacker you take care now... no hard feelings XD

  • @TheSmackerlacker

I can't tell if you are trolling or if you really don't realize that you are being an ass over something so petty. Either way I see it you are the "buffoon" here. In case of the former don't expect another reply.

  • @hagelt18 I'm not trolling. I'm not even enough of a douche bag to think that using such overblown mass-appeasing nonsense words is worthwhile. I genuinely believe that you are a dumb ass, and I wish you would just shut up. That's my whole game here man. No secrets, no hidden agenda.

I think you're an idiot with nothing meaningful to say, and I intend to let you know it.

I see stupid, I punish it.

Don't type like a five year old and expect to be taken seriously, you moron.

  • Beautiful Game for the time, and yes, very underrated! If only there were still games being made for the snes, what money they would make now! Thanks for the video.

  • The sounds in this game are amazing.

  • this game's insane! i loved it when i was little!!!!

  • 2:53 kkk?

  • Wow! I never played this game but it looks great! Not only that but the music is very good, and the things the game lets you do are very nice. Wall cling, fly, and shot.

I didn't even know it was a Ghost and Goblins spin off. I am surprised I never hear anyone talk about this game.

  • i fucking love the old capcom intro/tune

  • Cool game.

  • picked this up at a bargain price of 19.99 brand new as a kid in the mid 90's sometime and thought it'd be just some typical "ok" game but couldn't beat the price for a new game to play. Ended up being one of my favorite snes games ever to this day.

  • @ReTRoKiDDe Oh come on. The only link you could make between this and Castlevania is the gritty fantasy style.

  • @LordTyphoon Yes. XD

  • @LordTyphoon yeah defff, i would think this is more like a gng spinoff first.

  • @ReTRoKiDDe Except that the original Ghosts and Goblins came out a year BEFORE Castlevania.

  • @ReTRoKiDDe If anything this game is like mega man because you lose all your powers and you have to get them all back and you get upgrades. he doesn't even awkwardly climb steps or has a fuckin whip so you have a weak argument

  • @SamWesKidwell Sheesh, it was just a joke. I love Capcom, I'm just saying I think it looks like Castlevania.

  • @SamWesKidwell I'm actually very well aware you weren't serious. Im pretty sure every metal fan on youtube hates me cuz i always troll on there vids, lol

  • @SamWesKidwell The game looks and sounds like Castlevania. The dude has a point. I understand that you're reaction to the notion that your beloved childhood game might not be unique is... disturbing. I too sometimes have the impulse to defend things that I remember from way back when, but then I realize that it's just a really dumb thing to do.

Here's hoping you can learn to do the same. Even if you can't, it's worth noting that you can disagree without being an ass about it. That never helps.

  • @ReTRoKiDDe I love castlevania a lot but I have to say I would give up every castlevania game for a demon's crest secuel

  • is it just me or does the demon look just like the one from Goblins and Ghosts (or is that on purpose?)

  • @explosionpills It's on purpose; it's not the same storyline or time, but it's the same universe as GnG. He's the same kind as those flying demons, except super ultra badass and powerful compared to all those little spear fodder from GnG :)

  • @explosionpills same race

  • agreed totally classic ^^ some sounds reminded me "Vapmire" series's ost

  • This is another one of those games i rented as a child for my SNES and almost completely forgot about, but through youtube i have found it again

  • OST <3

  • this is an amazing game, but it is hard

  • Demons Crest & Darkstalkers are Best Underrated games Ever

  • See i thought that GQ was the prequel to Demons Crest unless im wrong but this is one of the greatest games ever...

  • Is this Gargoyle running around killing zombie KKK members?

  • i saw a game called gargoyoles quest ii for nes then i remember this game it looks so similiar

  • @matthew4892 It's one of the prequels to this game.

It goes Gargoyle's Quest (GB I think), Gargoyle's Quest 2 (NES) and then Demon's Crest (SNES)

You could fit Ghosts and Goblins somewhere before those games though, same universe and all. But definitely before Demon's Crest.

  • @LordTyphoon holy crap so demons crest is just the third installment to this trilogy plus ghost n goblin i never knew that wow! now i need to know how the gargoyle quest story goes. so theres a larger story to this huh?

  • @matthew4892 Yes and no. I don't know if GQ and GQ2 are connected but they're practically not connected to Demon's Crest other than the fact they share the same protagonist (Firebrand/Red Arremer)

Also G&G relates in that it has multiple Arremer enemies. But if it's really the same world it happens before Demon's Crest. Since Demon's Crest actually takes place in the HUMAN world, which implies.. well, humans are dead?

  • Comment removed

  • @LordTyphoon Actually Gargoyle's Quest 1 and 2 are connected, and it's generally accepted 2 came before 1 storywise. Demon's Crest is also regarded as connected since it's about Firebrand after he became a hero and fully fledged demon warrior, as he was younger in GQ.

Also, this game takes place in the demon world, not the human one. It's only vaguely implied Firebrand travels to the human world so that he can challenge the extra boss. The human world wouldn't have demons in it.

  • @Flegan777 Yeah, I ended up reading about GQ 1-2 and it made alot of sense, especially since the demon in the city talks about something relating to GQ 1 I think (Firebrand setting the whole place on fire)

Also, I guess it's not exactly clear but the demon world WOULD make more sense, but yeah, I don't know, I liked the idea it was the human world long after being overrun by demons, since Firebrand is like a few centuries old anyway? (which is apparently nothing? oh whatever, silly wikis)

  • @Flegan777 Actually I'm an asshole for digging this up, but there's other stuff pointing towards the game being in the human world, such as when you go into one of the shops in the city, some demon talks about talismans, saying that "The humans had treasures called "Talismans". They are rumored to be hidden somewhere in this world."

So yeah, idk. I'm a huge nerd for this game..

  • @LordTyphoon Doesn't make you an asshole dude. It's called research, as Jackie Chan's uncle would put it :)

But in my opinion, it would be weird because our world and the Makai are two separate realms. The only way the game would take place in our world is if there's some proof that humans still existed or had existed.

Well keep in mind the shopkeeper is implying that talismans exist. They may have been ended up in the Makai through some means and hidden away.

  • @LordTyphoon On the other hand, these guys never did expand much of the Makai in terms of actual story. It's easy enough to write about a demon realm, but how it's set up is a different story.

Hehe, it's awesome you love this game man. I never played any of Firebrand's games, but as I researched about him, he became very awesome in my eyes. A shame he dies in Namco x Capcom. Your party promises to save the Makai and restore the Infernal Village where he was born.

  • @Flegan777 Aw, that sucks, but I'm not gonna pay too much attention to a crossover game.. ;)

Anyway, I don't get what you mean about acknowledging humans existing/existed?

The GQ games all end with Firebrand being given the option of going to the human realm and reigning there

It's not said if he ever does, but anyway

This game also starts off with the intro talking about both realms and how Phalanx governs both..

  • @LordTyphoon It was heartbreaking to watch though as the reason he kept fighting Arthur and the others was to see if they were willing to go to the lengths he did to save all the worlds. If it were, I'd tell him to count on us to do whatever it takes :)

Are you sure? Because Phalanx says he wants to control both worlds when you finally confront him and he can only do that with all the crests. I just feel like the whole worlds thing in the game was too vague.

  • I remember getting this game for my birthday the day it came out, awesome. Thanks dad!!!

  • somehow got thinkin of this game earlier 2day. viewing due 2 nostalgia

  • acabo de bajar este game in spanish in really awesome!

  • i was feared by death by this game when i was younger ! haha cool to see it back

  • wasnt the demons name firebrand? or am I thinking of something else

  • @salamagogo Yeah, Firebrand/Red Arremer, same guy.

  • @LordTyphoon cool...thanks for putting these up...i grew up with snes...and this is a classic...seeing these brings back great memories...

  • que foda!

  • damn it gives me back a lot of memories i want to get back to that times when i play this game

  • this sure brings back a hell of a lot of memories...

  • One of my fav games for SNES!

  • Gosh this makes me fill old lol this was the game back in the day this and mario.

  • I love this game

  • nice walk through i've played this game once when it first came out and have not found a copy of it . rock on

  • Is that a fart at 3:38?

  • The logo in the intro and the main character are a lot like Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts... is it a sequel or a spin-off?

  • @dumbasspauldentonkin

It's the third game in a spin-off series.

The first two games are Gargoyle's Quest on the Gameboy and Gargoyle's Quest 2(a prequel) on the NES.

  • have it on the SNES :)

  • Comment removed

  • At 2:48 Reminds me of Ghosts 'n Goblins

  • The whole game revolves around an enemy from Ghost's 'n Goblins. :)

  • I stumbled across Gargoyle's Quest for the Gameboy and it turned out to be the best game on the system (from the one's I owned).

When I found out about the SNES sequel, I was so excited! This game is an overlooked classic. More people need to discover it.

  • this game is like the evil that never seems to die in the games where you are the hero... I hope it doesn't die in this game ever

  • Classic Game!

  • I Still Have A Copy Of This Game :-D

  • I remember playing this game at my cousin's house when I was little and the dragon in the beginning always scared the hell out of me =D

  • TOTALLY underrated game

  • @synnr666 absolutely!!! ps3 xbox360 update is necessary

  • It reminds me a mixture of Castlevania kinda... the music and the monster enemies.... I used to be affraid of the 1st monster lol when I was a kid

  • First game ever to scare me. I hope it will not be the last.

  • Whe I fought the Hyppogriff, I thought the sound it was making was a 'fart' noise.

Years later on ScrewAttack's 'Video Game Vault'; I found I was not alone in this presumption.

  • i rented this one time from the video shop as a kid... i finally found the name of the game and have found and bought a copy from ebay! very rare and very very fun !

  • Haha i remember buying this and couldnt figure out what too do in the overworld, so i never even played it lol.

  • this game >any other side scoller who agrees?

  • Most platformers most definitely. Though I can't name any better ones off-hand...

  • Wow..i remember I used to be terrified of the dragon when I was a littl kid XD

  • Comment removed

  • i remember playin this when i was 4

    im 16 now

  • Same here. Only I'm 18 XD

  • same here... exactly same with me

  • wow i still remember this game , i played this when i just was a kid and i still remember the first boss (undead dragon) jajaja that dragon scared me too much in the past and i remember that he was difficult for me xD now i can see how easy was it i think i will play this game again....

    5 star nice video

  • I have got two questions: is this game as hard as Ghouls and Ghosts and are you able to safe after you have completed a level? I hate those retro games which had not any function to save your progress.

  • It's hard, but not as hard as Ghouls and Ghosts. The first level and some of the second level aren't very hard, but it does have some pretty tough parts.

Also, you can't save per-se, but there is a password system. Either way, if you're not playing on a real SNES, you can just savestate after each level. :)

  • Ok, thanks. And you get a passwort after each level, or do you have to complete more than one?

  • Awesome game \m/, it should be redone just as the Ghouls n Ghost from psp

  • Wow, who would have thought you'd be burning the KKK!

  • It's karma paying them back, ;)

  • i heard this was a rare game...and they had to return the game after it was released or something like that?

  • One of the best Game that i have ever Played !

I want a Sequel please Capcom

Gargoyles Quest is the first Part on gameboy !!!

  • shut up dumbass

  • Comment removed

  • shut up motherfucker

  • Keep on ur musculous gay sex vids :)

  • This was a decent game for the time. Not the greatest thing ever but it was really really good I think. Worth a playthrough for anyone.

  • wow I remember playing this game this game was fun I wish they would make a remake of this game

  • Did anyone know a game that is similar to this game ??? I dont care on what nintendo it is (i mean like xbox, wii, ps3)

  • get the rom on the SNES9xw hijk emulator

  • Awesome music!!!

  • Why did my dumb ass not buy this game when I saw it in the marked down barrel in a local Toys "R Us? Hell, why didn't Capcom promote this more? I've never seen this game since. I see nothing but a beautiful, dark game here!

  • Just about everyone who has seen the game, but still hasn't played it yet is saying that.

    Myself included.

  • Yeah, I hear ya! I missed out big time with this one! Hopefully I will get another chance to land a copy, although chances may be slim! Thanks for your reply!!

  • You guys are amazing. I don't own it, infact I've never seen a copy irl so far, but if I ever do find one, I'll buy it. And plug my SNES again, just to play it..

  • I've read A LOT about this game in recent years! Plus it's a Capcom game so it must be cool in my opinion.

  • I'm lucky i have 1 but my Snes is dead xD ^^'

  • @LordTyphoon i got the real version of this game^^ SNES game but i soled my SNES =( but i do have the game ^^

  • Perhaps the best game on the SNES. Wish you & 10,000's of others bought it, we may have seen a sequel, now we certainly never will.

Apparently it had negative sales one month.

  • That is most likely true. I guess my ignorance contributed to the disappearance of a great game...... That sucks. Thanks for your reply.

  • I used to own this game when i was 15. It was $60 but well worth the money. This was one of the most epic goth games i've ever played. Cmon Capcom, make another sequel to this already!!! Bionic Commando gets a 2nd shot but this doesnt? For shame!!

  • Comment removed

  • Was blown away by how great this game was when I picked it up on Ebay about 8years ago.

Simple a phenomenal game with incredible dark, atmospheric music and fantastic boss battles.

Too bad most missed out on this Capcom gem.

  • luckily not all of us

  • gah!! you missed a scroll! anyway nice review

  • Ah this takes me back. This game has music almost as good as Castlevania: SOTN.

  • I wouldn't go that far, at least for most songs, but yeah, the music in this game is super.

  • its kinda sotn's rival

  • The music in this game, is awesome.

  • see it make me remeber when my brother played and i sat next to him

    it scared me a lot

  • this game brings back memories, i didnt start playing it till couple years ago actually but i was going through depression at the time n this ill ass fucking game helped me escape, although honestly some of the sweet dark music made me want to go insane n go off on the world on some evil shit

  • Love this game.

  • This is one of the darkest games ever released on a Nintendo console. The music and the atmosphere is dark as fuck. Whenever I am feeling 'dark', I can play this game and relate perfectly to it.

  • Never played this game :( It need a port now!!!

  • people have been talking about? people? I don't see any people! only demons and monsters xD

  • Demons are people too.

  • this is my favorite game! i wish my snes wouldnt break. and i also wish they would remake this game or something for another system!
