I was there on that day. I was on the other side of the course and heard the roar. Eventually word spread around that Vijay got the hole in one. This is the first time ive seen it, pretty amazing. If anyone has the chance go at the break of dawn and get a seat on hole 16. Its pretty cool to see these pros hit those skipping shots in person.

All others skipped their balls across the water that day. It wasn't a mishit shot, he wasn't trying to show off and he did take into consideration the slope of the green. He's so skilled he could probably hit the green that way about 50% of time so there was considerable skill involved, not just pure luck. I don't know if he could ever duplicate that shot but I'm absolutely sure he could put the ball reasonably close to the hole if given a few attempts. Give Vijay credit for his amazing shot.
