@ZarsasCostumes as I said in another comment he is killed by issac who I assume is possessed by he who walks behind the rows but it could have happened differently in the short story which I have never read, nessa might be thinking of ames who was due to be sacrificed to he who walks behind the rows but the adults intervene before than can happen.
