Also, the Taliban do not have control over ANY governmental body. I dont know what you're talking about "regaining control". They had control over ALL of Afghanistan prior to 2001- now they only hold a few small villages and are constantly on the run. They have not regained anything.

And yeah, alot of that stimulus has been used already. If theres more of the same to come, I worry for our deficit (which Obama has already contributed more to than Bush did in his 8 years).

I read that Ron Paul wants to abolish taxes. Does he only mean taxes on individuals or is he also including corporations and various institutions? This has puzzled me for quite a while, since taxes are necessary to keep the government from going bankrupt, and it seems unreasonable to abolish taxes entirely.

And sales tax is about the worst tax imaginable for poor people (but clearly still better than no tax). It is regressive, meaning the poorer you are generally the higher percentage of your income you spend on taxes.

Of course you can make it regressive if you chop up item into different tax rates and/or have rebates. Like have luxury cars taxed higher (by %) than food.

Income tax is clearly progressive, at least ideally. Low capital gains tax can make it regressive.
