By the time the note jump occurs in the actual song, the note for that line is done. I do it, too, you can tell ^.^ Do it freely, I say, unless you're going for high up on the leader boards. If so, then hold the note, then do it at the end.

I think that though going an octave lower is alright, but if you can hit the high notes properly you'll get a higher score. Also at 0:49, without is not a single note, with is one note and out is a higher note. Get that rank up!

nah, you dont get any more points for singing in the correct octave. as long as you're singing the right pitches, it doesnt matter what octave you're in.

You don't get docked percent wise for doing the lower octave, but I heard somewhere that if you hit the correct octave you get bonus (I might be wrong). Either way hit the right octave; I saw a guy on YouTube do it so a girl should be able to do it too!

I just realized that in the song it does a double octave thing (if you waaaannnntt, more of thiiiiiisss). The "want" and "this" line has a high octave and low octave voice at the same time so I guess you're right it doesn't really matter. And even funnier the higher note in "without" at 0:49 is a solid note in rock band even though the actual song is a higher note. That's...weird.
