Buddy Ingersol was beating 500" Pro Stock cars, Bob Glidden, Lee Shepard, Warren johnson with a 262 ci twin turbo v6, he went through 3 gears before the front wheels touched the ground.
Try holding the throttle to the floor and never let off,forget about that foot. When you shift,slap the clutch with your left foot and slide it off the pedal when it's 3/4 way down so it pops back on its own, shift as your foot is going down on the clutch. Thats speed shifting, it should sound like an automatic with a racing converter. Keep your hand in the push or pull position, and yank or drive it through the firewall when you slap the clutch. A little shifter like that, it should be easy.

This will cause your engine to rev high while the clutch is depressed, so you will need to make your shift quickly enough so that you do not approach the red-line, which can either burn out your engine or cause the rev limiter to kick in and shut off your engine. Either way, you will lose the drag race!

Have you ever driven a stickshift Mustang of this generation? It is not for pussies. The T-5 tranny takes a very deliberate motion to shift between gears and the clutch has mile long travel. I think i sometimes shift too fast.. I think it's killing my synchro's :( That or its just (yet another) problem with the 4.6L manual Tremec. But 1st-2nd seems to 'resist' going in then suddenly catches, shifting slower makes my rpm's dip too low... doesn't really happen in any other gear except sometimes 2nd-3rd on a cold cold day. What does this meaaann??? :( I hope I didnt break my baby <3... she has only 46,000km on her.... :(
if its the weight shift is forward, as in braking, your rpms are too low, if the weight shifts forward the rpms were too high. In 1st to 2nd its especially felt because of the gear ratios. =]

See, what I mean is transmission itself doesn't always like going from first to second... sometimes I can flick it from first to second instantly, with no effort, and other times I need to let it hang there for a moment (while the input shaft synchronizes with the 2nd gear's shaft).
What I don't understand is why sometimes the synchronizing is quick, and other times its not. :/
First of all that is not speed shifting. Speed shifting is when you never take your foot off the gas while stepping on clutch and shifting. I do it all day long.

I wouldn't at all say that a T5 transmission is made to be beat on or "begging to be driven like this" at all. If you're at stock/near stock HP numbers and you know what you're doing they can take it for the most part. Although, if you drive like this every day then you're definitely going to have premature failure of some kind. I know at least 1 guy who's on his 3rd transmission in his Fox because he pounds on it every day like a 16 year-old immature child.

@rokkin1 actually this is an 01 so it comes with the T45 transmission. The T3650 was introduced in 03. They are basically the same with the 5th gear ratio a little bit different.

Have you ever driven a stickshift Mustang of this generation? It is not for pussies. The T-5 tranny takes a very deliberate motion to shift between gears and the clutch has mile long travel. Not the easiest to drive stick in. But alotta fun. And if its not a real car, name another rear drive, V-8, 5 speed car thats actually affordable?@JamaicanDro

I think i sometimes shift too fast.. I think it's killing my synchro's :( That or its just (yet another) problem with the 4.6L manual Tremec. But 1st-2nd seems to 'resist' going in then suddenly catches, shifting slower makes my rpm's dip too low... doesn't really happen in any other gear except sometimes 2nd-3rd on a cold cold day. What does this meaaann??? :( I hope I didnt break my baby <3... she has only 46,000km on her.... :(

if its the weight shift is forward, as in braking, your rpms are too low, if the weight shifts forward the rpms were too high. In 1st to 2nd its especially felt because of the gear ratios. =]

@deposithere1 A jerk happens sometimes if I take a long time to shift, but that's not whats bothering me... See, what I mean is transmission itself doesn't always like going from first to second... sometimes I can flick it from first to second instantly, with no effort, and other times I need to let it hang there for a moment (while the input shaft synchronizes with the 2nd gear's shaft).
What I don't understand is why sometimes the synchronizing is quick, and other times its not. :/

First of all that is not speed shifting. Speed shifting is when you never take your foot off the gas while stepping on clutch and shifting. I do it all day long.

I wouldn't at all say that a T5 transmission is made to be beat on or "begging to be driven like this" at all. If you're at stock/near stock HP numbers and you know what you're doing they can take it for the most part. Although, if you drive like this every day then you're definitely going to have premature failure of some kind. I know at least 1 guy who's on his 3rd transmission in his Fox because he pounds on it every day like a 16 year-old immature child.

@rokkin1 actually this is an 01 so it comes with the T45 transmission. The T3650 was introduced in 03. They are basically the same with the 5th gear ratio a little bit different.
