  • Thanks for sharing. He simply is the best.

  • i am so scared...

  • more than perfect, I realy love this peace played by him.

  • this is the best recording of this ive ever heard. that was incredible!!!

  • I honestly think his tempo is perfect especially for nows music, he probably thought ahead to the 21st century just like beethoven thought ahead of his time so does this performer.

  • Wow, all those parts where he's playing fast bits in octave-wide double stops...I dunno, maybe it's slightly easier on violin than viola 'cause your fingers don't have to be quite so far apart, but still, oddly enough it's the bit that struck me as what I would find hardest to do :)

Completely amazing...I think I'll stick with being in the orchestra and playing BEHIND such talented people, thank you very much!! Hahah

  • I like

  • Violin Concert nº1 in G Minor

1º mov. - Vorspiel: Allegro moderato

    2º mov. - Adagio

3º mov. - Finale: Allegro energico

    Jascha Heifetz - violin

Sir Malcolm Sargent (conductor), New Symphony Orchestra of London

    recorded: May, 14 and 16, 1962

  • love it! ^.^

  • brilliant.

  • Genius...

  • my old violin teacher was one of Heifetz's students. He had me play this piece- I now understand why.

  • @muckmonsterno4 Same here, small world.

  • 5:31 has to be the best orchestral part ever

  • good job heifetz!

    u play soooooooooooooooo gooooooooooooooood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • All violinists of the world - bow down and worship Heifetz! This piece is amazing!

  • I hate when people say heifetz is cold.

    This is brilliant.

  • It's a beautiful concert. I love it!

  • I have his autagraph my great great grandma gave it to my great grandma and my great grandma gave it to my grandma and my grandma gave it to my mother and my mother gave it to me. Yea i know alot of generations!

  • @Misspeaceloveparis omg. im so jealous.

  • Is their an oistrach recording of this song?

  • The sustention of a musical note in such a subtlety along with the passionate rendering of a vibrato is what Heifetz's way of grabbing your passion from within. Don't forget the great New Symphony Orchestra of London conducted by Sir Malcolm Sargent. Can you believe that this was recorded in May14 and 16, 1962 along with the second and third movement?

  • I think this is amazing because if you slow down the fast parts you can literally hear every note.

  • i get goosebumps every time i listen to this wonderful piece of art, Heifetz is the best!and Max Bruch was a master composer!

  • OMW amaizng!! amazazazazazainnnngggggggngnggngngng!!!!

  • wowsers:) amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

such sustination of the notes...although they do fade sometimes:( but who AM I to critisize!!!

I LOVE Heifetz on his concertos!

  • @CalebsFans considering it's an old recording, it's not very surprising that some notes fade.

  • Its like 25"C and i still get goosebumps

  • Criticisms of Heifetz that he is cold or whatever are totally ridiculous. People who say that are just jealous in my opinion and with good reason. The descending arpeggio at 3:58 I think I played that today like 100+ times and I'm still screwing it up.

  • Heifetz was a unique violinist. The sound, the technique, the style...he was beyond superlatives. Thank you for posting this.

  • Beautiful collaboration between soloist and orchestra. At times it really does bring tears of joy to your heart the playing is so heart felt. Wonderful!.

  • I have heard many many version of this with different violinists and awlays come back to this as my absolute favourite. No one plays it like him!!!

  • What's the orchestra that plays along side him?

  • I find this to be the most fiery and energetic recording out there. nothing cold about it!

  • Learning this piece right now. I love it so much, you can put so much passion into it and it just absorbs and reciprocates it to an excellent level. Jascha Heifetz is a also a great which makes this even more beautiful.

  • my favorite part is 4:53.

  • jjy00011 check your taste

  • i have to play this next tuesday! this recording is so inspiring, thank you :D

  • This is the perfect way to play! nothing wrong with it guys....!

    totally great!!!

  • Perfection!!!

  • At 6:50 I hear a note plucked during the run down! I caught a mistake! :DDD

  • violinists like heifetz don´t make mistakes my friend. We, poor humans, do.

  • @dienerl hes near-perfect, but he's not absolutely perfect. If you actually went to the time, you'd hear it. Unless he plucked the string just to make us feel better haha.

  • no, you'r wrong everyone do mistakes how Kraisler said there's not no one who play without mistakes they do mistake but they fix very fast. If you listen very well you understand what meen the Kreisler whit his word's.

  • haha, why are you so excited?

  • yes...a pizzicato note xD ... but it isn't wrote...

  • lol the bruch concerto on steroids. but nevertheless, heifetz is still amazing even playing it at this speed

  • I think this is my favorite recording of this - nice tempo, great timbre, and--of course--perfect technique.

  • I think that Heifetz is amazing!!

He really is the god of all the violinists in the world (lol)

He plays all of the songs perfectly and yet he still plays them with love and passion. I don't think there is anyone who can be so great except him. He is truly and exquisitely an amazing musician.

    I love you Heifetz!

And thanks for posting this! I've been looking for this recording because this is my favorite concerto ever and I wanted to hear him play it 'cause he's just so awesome. :)

  • @missanimekitty1

    absolutely flawlesss~

    XD

I don't think that a lot of people can play this piece fast yet so well like him. It's fast!

    Well...maybe it's that I just don't know that many....haha.

  • I always laugh, because in the violinists world, Heifetz is like our god. *smiles*

  • agreed, heifetz is perfect if you want to listen to a piece exactly the way it is written - perfectly.

  • I have a record with Isaac Stern, and I love it..., I dont know that much about music, but sound diferent...

  • Although Heifetz does play a little too fast for my tastes, it is always refreshing to hear someone with technique as immaculate as his, especially per this piece where even professionals have trouble with the runs.

  • of course! Heifetz is the perfect violinist when you want to hear someone play all notes and techiques perfectly.

In my opinion, Heifetz is a little cold on the musicality, but his perfectness overpowers that. He really is perfect on everything!

  • @musicdevotee4life i agree about his technicality. But his musicality is brilliant in my opinion. If you've ever heard his recording of the Melodie by Gluck, or his recording of the Chaconne by Vitali, or him playing the Beethoven Violin Concerto, it just strikes me in the heart. Maybe it's just me though.

  • @zaelinx i heard it just now!!! its beautiful :) to me it sounds like his intonation is really sharp, kinda makes me nervous and gives me the chills xD but he is perfectly amazing :)

  • @musicdevotee4life I think he goes to fast to the essential, because it's an evidence for him.

  • @musicdevotee4life Cold on the musicality?? Just because he doesn't move like Joshua Bell Doesn't mean that he's not musical. if you had your eyes closed i doubt you'd say that. Heifetz remains as the emperor of violin playing in my opinion. perfect on everything = perfect interpretation too.

    P.S.

if you watch some videos of him up close he actually does move just not to a visible degree to an audience member

  • @musicroxs1021 You completely misunderstood what I was saying xD by 'cold on the musicality' doesn't just mean moving, it means moving the listener's heart. To MY OPINION, he amazed me with his techniques, but not so much with the feeling that he put in this music. im not only talking about 'moving'. i do admit that he's the emperor of violin. i hope you don't think i HATE heifetz, hes one of my favorite violin players.

  • @musicdevotee4life until very recently, i liked Accardo, but now i do believe Leonidas Kavakos is my best violin player. He also comes from my country. You should definitely look him up

  • @musicdevotee4life who do you think you AREEEEE, running ;round leaving scars, Collecting your jar of hearts, tearing Heifetz' heart apart, you're gonna catch a cold from the ice inside your soulllllll

  • @musicroxs1021 How are you supposed to know that he didnt move??? O.o This video is a picture...

  • @jjyooo11 This really is too fast. Just because you execute all the notes and do it faster than most does not make you better. As a matter of fact the musicality is lost.; I prefer Accardo's recording or check Perlman's video here it is so much better.

  • @GeniusHaydn WRONG!

  • @GeniusHaydn to be perfectly honest, nobody can say that any artists interpretation of a piece is wrong. As a violinist, and a musician, Heifetz played the concerto how he thought it should be played. He, as every artist should, interprets Bruch's concerto in a way that displays his trademark skills (i.e. magnificent tone, vibrant sound, lush vibrato, and amazing as well as nearly flawless bow control). What emerges may not be something you agree with, but there;s no one "right" way to play it.

  • @jjyooo11 i can play this piece on piano very easily i dunno if he would be pleased at that though :) probably set me on fire and chop me up into little pieces

  • @jjyooo11 all i can say is goose pimples :)

  • Thank you for posting this recording, its the best possible. I love this concert and I can't wait to learn it. Heifetz, its also my favourite performer:)

    Thx again

  • @ThePergoss yeah! I just bought it!

    It's so cool~

  • The first movement of Bruch's Violin Concerto is my favorite :)

  • I like the third movement best, but I am a great fan of this concerto!!!!!!

    :)

    It is so cool.

  • 4:55-5:05 sends shivers down my spine

  • Comment removed

  • I play the viola, but I have played this before, the first movement is my favorite, and I have had so much fun playing this

  • thanks so much for posting..wonderful performance to put it mildly! Certainly one of my favorite Bruch recordings

  • i agree :)
