  • Wikipedia, while a great resource, should not be trusted on its own, just as no resource should be. All research should be done using multiple sources. The strength Wikipedia has is that it provides a place where research from many different sources can be combined in one location. Provided all sources are cited, and all citations are verified, Wikipedia is a great resource for education.

  • Great minds!!!

  • I like Wikipedia, i wouldnt donate to it though as finances are pretty tight but if i was rich i would. And i am surprised that people like multi-millionaire, perhaps even billionaire philantropists who like to support good causes havent been more generous.

  • The beauty of Wikipedia is that it encourages critical thought, whereas traditionally, Encyclopedia Britanica has been taken as truth.

  • The problem everyone has with Wikipedia is that anyone can edit it. One day I hope they realize that is precisely where its strength comes from.

  • You wouldn't think something like Wikipedia would be a very reliable source of information, given that just anybody can edit it, and although it's not perfectly accurate, it's surprisingly more accurate than one would expect.

  • Samlovesflea missed the point. It's ok though.

  • Ha haha oh I get the point of the video. I was kind of responding more to the people who say that Wikipedia is the best thing on the internet.

  • My comment didn't make sense. Ne'ermind.

  • donted ;]

  • Wikipedia is useless unless you are looking for verrry basic information. I guess the donations will help make Wikipedia more reliable, but until then...people really shouldn't use it. The proper information you need is available elswhere.

  • Bahh! *elsewhere

  • Heh, this comment made me chortle.

  • So cross reference.

  • Wikipedia is one of the best things to hit the internet, imo, even though it does have a few faults.

This video is on Wiki's main page :|

  • But the knowledge MUST be accurate!

  • thank you the caster

  • the idea behind wikipedia is great, but you cant just copy and paste everything thats on there. there are a lot of mistakes written down in it. buuuut it IS a great concept.

  • wikipedia has only one main thing againest it, and that is the ammount of fake knowledge that people put on it. while reaserching on wikipedia, i found that somebody said that attila the hun had killed jesus, JFK, and abe lincloin, in the same day. and they honestly thought this was true. it's not, and that is the problem. the page was fixed a few days alter, but still...

  • one of the reason why my teacher told me not to wikipedia is mostly becouse she knew that we would cheat off of it and there wont be much to learn from her

  • Well wikipedia is great for casual use but if i'm writing a report about the french and indian revolution and wikipeia says that the Indians won hands down and i put that into my report then that would be pretty bad, but if i'd have gone on to grolier or another database i would have gotten those facts right

  • Wikipedia is not going to say anything that blatantly inaccurate. They have about as many inaccuracies as Britannica.

  • wikipedia doesn't say those things people that a not affiliated with wikipedia are

  • all my teachers say dont use it anyone can edit it and it sucks and im just like fuck you im gunna use it because its awesome

  • It's a fairly well-known fact that Wikipedia is every bit as accurate (as far as the overall percentage of factual errors is concerned) as any set of commercially-available encyclopedias. If your teacher doesn't understand that, too bad. If your teacher has *other* reasons for not wanting students to use it, then I'd wonder what they are.

  • Hah, I wish Wikipedia was used more. It's so irritating when I hear my teachers and other people say I shouldn't use it. I use it every day regardless. I think there's a ton of interesting, and /true/ information there. :/

  • Ya. Make Wiki international this way more even more subpar hackers can edit it. Wiki isn't even a credible source for research.

  • well, at least you knew how to use an apostrophe correctly for the conjunction of the words "is" and "not."

  • Thanks Mac!

  • great vid showing

  • have u come across the copyright information, cause i dont want you to get suspended or banned cause of that...^^ thx for sharing

  • BRAVO!!!Totaly agree to the idea and concept of it. Thanks for uploading hte video.

  • Wikipedia is and will continue to be one of the most important sites on the internet. It is a brilliant idea and is a wonderful medium with which to share our collective knowledge =)

  • Yeah, Wikipedia is great. I have to take a musical education course, each day we get an assignment to write on a different composer. We cannot use Wikipedia. It's such bull shit seriously. I use it anyways. :\

  • knowledge is power, i am sure someone great said that.

  • Thanks, enjoyed the video :)

  • i think its such a load of bullshit that, more often than not, wikipedia is denied as a source for research projects and such

  • That's pretty cool. Of course, it's not always accurate...

  • Wikipedia ROCKS. It's an amazing effort.

  • uh..cool
