There's tons of reasons why you would convert a stock twin into a large single.. I am not even going to start to list the reasons..

For a quick example, I direct your attention to the huge HP number Supra's out 2jzgte's. They come with stock twins from the factory.. first conversion most people make is ditching the 2 smaller turbos in favor for one larger one.

I see E30 M3s on the road quite often actually. What I meant to say, is that the M3, 30 years down the road, will still be looked at as a special car, the 335 won't.

The M3 is a race bred car. The performance equipment used on M3s are extreme, those on 335i, are very good, but not as good. Think about it, a naturally aspirated 3.2 liter outputs more horsepower that the 3.5 liter, 10 years newers and with twin turbochargers.

You really should have done your research, the 335i is actually 2979cc, under 3 litre.

The 335i was never meant to be a fast car and the only reason BMW used forced induction was to lower fuel consumption. You cannot compare the E46 M3 engine too the 335i engine, they were designed for totally different purposes.

Mate - I own an SMG M3 E46. I have raced .. id say 4 - 5 335's - two coupes.. I have beaten them all off the line. The other thing is - I raped a 335 on a track day also. I mean dont get me wrong - it put up a BLOODY hard fight. I was shocked to see a non M car keeping up. But remmbr - E46 M3 is 10 years old now - non turbo GOD! I have NEVER lost to an e46 M3....I own them from the line, on the roll....

My buddy owns a SMG e46 M, and I always pull on him, quite hard. Just take the fact that evolution has made the e46 an inferior car to a sport tuned, chipped 335i. And the 335i is still coming in less expensive, even after 2k in mods.
