Adobe flash cs4 basics : 0102 Pen Tool

I keep getting this small "x" by the side of my pen tool. What is that and how do i get rid of it? I think its stopping me from making a complete loop. Please help

The problem is not that you went beyond 90 degrees. Problem is that you clicked to create the first handle rather than click-and-drag. And do not "cut that curve off" unless it's really an angle! All your curves are discontinuous and will not scale right if you chop all of your tangent lines.

Start in the middle of a curve, not at the angles, and drag tangent to the curve.

u forgot to mention that holding the ALT button is important when getting rid of the point in the middle to continue ur lines

Thanks for the wonderful tutorials. It's really useful for a beginner like myself.

umm...maybe you forgot to mention, holding "alt" key, gives you a small arrow (same as in Photoshop) and you can click on the tip of the hands to adjust the curves. So you don't need to worry about getting 90 or so degrees to get the right curves. Of course, you have to remove the handle if the next point is a straight line.

Just thought I'd share.

you are right but your pentool skills are kinda low'

in flash the line tool is much easyer to iilustrate characters. pentool is a photoshop tool bcause its easyer to do realistic shapes/
