Best tip on vibrato I read so far: try doing a freezing monkey who is imitating a sheep! then wait for your special jacket that has sleeves that wrap all the way around you. xD
when i blow, the vibrato is easy for me but when i try to draw and put vibrato on it is very difficult. When i do successfully create a vibrato with a draw it is usually very slow and i cant speed it up. Is that normal? Do i just need more practice or am i doing something wrong?
Sounds great, but not sure you really explain how its done - 'a backward cough' - are you really using just the back of the throat on the draw? What about the blow? Can you 'tut'with the tongue?
Your really amazing at the harmonica, you make it look alot easier then it is! Although its nice to see that someone has taken responsiblity in teaching others the ways of vibratos, honestly i myself am still a beginner in my eyes i can get the flow of the vibrato in sync but i still am having a little trouble with all the hand positions! Keep up the good work ur an inspiration to all that play!!
Faultless and inspiring - but may I pedantically suggest that technically it's tremolo (amplitude) rather than vibrato (pitch)? And is shaking the harp cheating:)?
I am interested in mastering the high notes of the blues harp. Any suggestions. Also what about circular breathing? Eddie Chance, I left you another message about if you could watch my video and tell me what you think about my playing. I would want to take you on as my coach...Take a chance with Eddie Chance
I ejoy all your videos and take the time to watch them all, and as far as the lesson aspect this is my favorite you were very detailed in this one and not so much briefly explaining it then plaing it crazily good. i do understand there just short videos im just saying you did well teaching in this one.
Very nice and detailed lesson on vibrato ! it's really nice that you take your time to provide free lessons to the blues Harp fans. Please let me know when your DVD will be ready that I do a little review for DocteurBlues website
Awesome! Remeber, if you guys are interested in picking it up, please email me at shellist@hotmail.com. This will allow me to store contact emails in one place. Thanks
Thanks for this vibrato lesson. Makes me want to go out and buy a harmonica ! Only one thing stops me though :P -- I have the windpower capacity of an ant with laryngitis!
I don't have to tell you that you are good. I think you know that by now. The only thing I can tell you is that you should find Toots Thielemans and Steven debruyne. They can still impress you like I am impressed by you! Toots is easy to find. Steven ,you can find under the bandname El fish or the rythem junks.(yes we play blues too in Europe) Keep it up and good luck!!!

my vibrato has a lot of throat noise that is not pretty. Is that normal?

that's normal..just practice that consistent airflow and it'll come! the less you try the easier it is sometimes.
