This body check is textbook open-ice contact. Whether or not Pat's skate blades left the ice before, or after initial contact is debatable. The blow delivered is as clean as it gets. Elbows tucked, right shoulder to the center of Prucha's sweater. A charging call is thin. I've watched this replay over and over and over. It's too close to call, either way. The one thing that is certain is that opposing skaters better keep their heads up when #36 is out there for the Blue n' Gold.
@gongerallday I count three (and a half, to get his feet square) strides and I never see his left foot leave the ice. If you want to know what a dirty hit is, watch ovechkin.
you know what's annoying? watching a fight break out after every clean hit. wtf?! this shit didn't happen in the 70s. you got hit clean and that was it...what the heck...
clean hit he pushed up with so much force his feet came up after he made contact, and in case u have not noticed vint7107 hockey has changed a lot since the 70s and i think hanzel was right to go after kaleta
Didn't even have to see the replay to see he left his feet. But the replay clearly shows he did leave his feet. And on top of that, that's a charge - which has been a penalty for years now. Kaleta took at least three strides towards him.
The hit was technically clean. Kaleta put his shoulder into Prucha's head- that's why you're told at the age of five to keep your head up when you skate. As for the skates leaving the ice: when he connected with Prucha his skates were on the ice. The force of impact sent him upward, making it appear to be charging. Clean hit. Legal hit. Good hit. Tough break for Pete, great hit for Kaleta.
Absolutely filthy. That dirt bag deserves a suspension. He's about twice Petr's size. What a moron. Hanzal handled it exactly how he should. No one messes with my boy prucha!

you're an idiot, just because a guy is bigger than another player doesn't mean it should be a penalty if he hits a smaller player. prucha put his head down and got fucking smoked it was his own fault. learn hockey
I don't even like either team, but, any team going bankrupt in the NHL is not a good thing. And besides, with them Buffalo can actually win a game or two in a season, so you should love them.
oh shut your mouth. I agree with his head being up, but he makes no attempt to back down from kaleta's hit. And you can't stop the follow through on skates. Check it again and again at 1:00 and you'll see his skates are still on the ground. The impact is just so dominant, kaleta gets lifted and prucha is sprawling on the ice, it's just physics. This ISN'T the NFL, this is fast paced hockey.
The follow through is what needs to be stopped in the NHL, especially when its that thrusting upwards motion. NFL has taken steps to penalize such hits, the NHL should do the same.
@GongerAllDay if that were true don't u think there would have been a penalty, fine, or suspension. At the very least there would have been a penalty. Obviously a clean hit.
clean hit... Coyotes player was head up facing Kaleta when he got hit

def. clean. skates left ground at the impact, and brought his elbow up to keep balance while mid check/in air.
buffalo gets some good hits at times. kaleta may do some dirty work, but isnt that what a grinder is supposed to do? get good hits, and aggitate.

Dude...Prucha is taller than him.
Clean hit and man did he get fuckin' rammed! Easily one of the great Kaleta hits.
Razorman679 2 years ago 2
Just because he's bigger than Prucha means he shouldn't hit him? Give me a break, this is hockey.
If you think this is "filthy," I suggest you go watch synchronized swimming instead.

I'll say it again, how many times has Kaleta been penalized or suspended? Zero.
It was a good, solid hit with his shoulder. Maybe Prucha should keep his head up instead of watching the puck slide down the ice.

If you think it was dirty, take a class on physics. The hit was clean, legit and fucking DEVASTATING!

he was just running into him straight. not kaleta's fault that prucha was ducking a bit...

Second, read my other post.

I'm a Buffalo fan so I might be biased, but I agree with Schnopsnosn, he had he head down taking an outlet pass...
He'll learn just like RJ Umberger did when Campbell flattened his ass in the playoff 3 years ago.
