This videos piss me off so much, its like a friggin teaser. Who cares to see the fish being caught on the plug, yeah its awesome to see the fish strike the topwater, but I want to see how the plug is worked, how to work it, why he chose that plug, why the color choice etc. I don't just want to see someone hooking up with a fish, that teaches me nothing more then I already know, show me how you caught that fish, Im here to learn!
*OH MY GOD THERE'S MORE! He even shows everyone the correct way to responsibly release a fish after reviving it! You're right Ron, your absolutely right! This man is truely the devil out to kill as many bass as possible. Oh, the humanity! (* indicates sarcasm)
Great video skimmer, awesome top water strike, keep the videos coming.
You want me to believe,I cannot see,Very resillent,I think,I am sure. There has been research published on verticle lifting of large fish and it shows damage on a large scale. Next time you read Saltwater Sportsman,Sport Fishing,On The Water get the address of the editor in charge of answering e-mail inquiry's and write asking him if verticle lifting,by the jaw with no lateral support and out of the water.injures fish. If you get published let us all know, *so we can learn!(*indicates sarcasm)
I have read the articles in the very same publications you make mention of. I however, fail to see the practicality in the practice of carefully cradling a fish to be sure as not to hurt it. I surf fish, and caring for a fish in the manner those publications describe is nearly impossible while balancing on a slick boulder waist deep in surging white water. Although I acknowledge the findings of those articles, I disagree with the notion that this a sure fire way to kill a fish.
I cannot help you with the flyfisherman thing. One has to accept resonable change when it comes to helping the resource The fisherman fishing on this video was fishing from a BOAT. It would be wise right now to take all the precautions one can, especially where a video is concerned to ensure we give nothing to organizations such as The Audubon Society,Defenders of Wildlife etc. Go to any of the websites talking about fishing in Cape Hatteras and see what the envoirnmental extremists are doing.
That was a boat? Dang I thought that was a fiberglass jetty? All kidding aside, the surf comment was in realtion to myself in attempts to shed light on MY personal opposition to the vertical v. horizontal debate. It's nice to do, but not always practical. I'm not sure what video you're referencing, but I would like to watch it. I have to assume that the Hatteras issue is the closure of beach driving due to plovers?
A striped bass is a very resilient fish and i am sure that the fish lived. I agree that I usually do not take the fish all the way out of the water when I release, but I think the amount of fish that get injured by holding them up to weigh them is slim to none.
Please take pity on our Bass. No need to boat them amd certainly no need to hang them vertically with a boga-grip. Ask a biologist what a throat latch is.
o.O we can only hope for so much change at a time lets give people some time =] i know ur concerned about the fish population but yea.. we can only change and do so much for them
O.K Ron, if your so concerned for the fishes' well being you shouldn't be fishing for them in the first place. I have read the supposed "findings" that hanging these fish vertically does damage again and again. However, I can not see how it could be true since striped bass have been being lipped by anglers since the dawn of striper fishing (its the most logical way to lift one) Your only other otpion is gill plating, which is a sure fire way to damage a fish intended for release.
great job, nice release, well done.
