How's this from an atheist'; take it easy brothers and sisters, equally. Do not fight, do not bicker, enjoy the fruits of nature. You are one. Treat people as you wish to be treated yourself (Socrates, 400 BCE). Human morality is innate, not written...
@avester777 Yep, it is. Spirituality is not morality. It's way higher, and a killer. That's why I empathize with atheism, and always say you gotta ASK GOD for proof. Meaning, look at the ceiling and say, 'God, all this information is confusing and it looks like you don't exist. Am I talking to myself like a fool, or are you really THERE? If you exist, I need proof!'
For, you have a RIGHT to it. No one believes in God absent proof. Not possible.
Salvation for believers? If I was born in say, Iran, chances are I'd be raised Muslim, if I was born in say, Texas, chances are I'd be raised Christian. What chance does a child have with the systematic brainwashing that occurs in all deeply religious cultures? There can only be one right answer right? And that answer is science. Educate, think, discuss & debate and rethink. Something religion is all to unfamiliar with.
@avester777 You just shot your reasoning in the foot. By your reasoning, you'd have to be RAISED on 'science'. By the way, it was 'science', in early 1900's, to BLEED yourself to get well. So I'd not put my faith in 'science', either, esp. since you must reverse the laws of genetics, to justify evolution. (Bible doesn't say Earth is 6000 yrs old, so let's not argue it here; see my Genesis playlist.)
So yes, educate, think, discuss -- those are good points. No matter HOW one is raised.
@brainouty OK, That is a fair response. Lets keep it civil! My point is that if you are raised with no other option than belief and blind faith, in a society/family that condemns dissent, the concept of reasoning is negatively biased towards what you are taught (or forced) to accept. And in cases of certain religions ostracized from the family and even community. So I think how you are raised have a huge impact on things.
@avester777 Yes, your point is valid. I kept both of your post versions up, since I don't know which of them you meant the most. Just delete the one you didn't want. (I don't censor.)
@brainouty Well, all three of them. If you want to remove your own post, just hover your mouse to the right of the post, and you'll see 'Reply'. Click on the down button, and you'll see Remove or a trash can. Click that, to remove your own post.
@avester777 And as for science, consider this, the discovery of penicillin and its application has saved more lives than all the deaths in all the wars in history combined. We discover through trial and error, as opposed to assuming knowledge through scripture passed down through generations, and changing along the way to suit, as was the case in protestantism in the 16 century UK in its break from the Catholic Church, individual causes (Henry VIII needed a divorce!).
@avester777 Well, I'm not debunking science wholly. Just showing it's fallible. BTW, Scripture taught about disinfection a long time ago. RCC is kinda arrogant to claim it speaks for God, especially since it contradicts His Word. So let's not confuse our Churchinanity screwy INTERPS of Bible, with what it actually says.
I'm as critical of Christianity as you can find. I'm trying to be the Don Rickles of Christendom. :)
@brainouty Again, a fair response, science is indeed fallible, but it admits it. Religion, and I'm wholesale when I say that word, is not. Medically, if you got ill (and I hope you are not, and do not get ill), would you pray to God, Allah or Yahweh (or Thor or the 2000+ other gods man has invented) to get well, or go to the doctor to find a remedy concocted by scientific trail and error?
I do believe my foot is still intact (ref. first response!)
@avester777 Also, I would like to add, your common sense reply is amazing. I see so many comments on YT that are just plain obnoxious and ridiculous, it is a pleasure to debate with you. I DO believe all religion is ill founded, but respect individuals beliefs, so long as they can justify it. I ask nothing more. Take it easy my friend.
@avester777 And a pleasure to debate with you. We can get nasty, too. Just right now, we're not. But feel free to do so. I won't faint or hurl curses on your head, but maybe will hurl a few insults back -- insult never means cursing. It's just a form of discourse, like any other (i.e., the DI in Basic training uses insults to help people respond to vital instructions).
@avester777 reply to your 'science is indeed fallible' comment -- yeah, religion is loathe to admit it fails. God is not religion, or people, and neither is Bible. Why we humans always have to religify everything, right down to our hair gel and deoderant (oh I I I I I I I use RightGuard!) -- baffles me.
God has a Name. If I addressed you as 'vested77', that's not your name, and you don't reply. Wills have Grantors. Legal issue, there.

shadowzking, Gary Miller can't read. It's NOT the same thing, and if you don't recognize that by now, no one but God of the Bible can fix your blindness. The terrorists are MUSLIM, and have been on a terrorist timetable of 430 years, since 638AD. The 430 years, is a play on Exodus 12:40-41, a verse about the Exodus. So Satan plays the Muslims on a schedule, 638AD, 1073AD, 1517AD, 1948+ AD. Historically, those are dates for overrunning Jerusalem. Now Muslims can't read history, either...
One Crucial thing though, VERY Crucial, in John 3:16 it is "his ONLY Begotten Son" not Precious. It is very crucial, because Christ is the ONLY BEGOTTEN and NOT MADE from the Father, henceforth one in essence with God.
Yeah, BurnAllLiberals, the Greek proves what you said, even more. Greek "monogenes" doesn't mean 'only begotten', but rather means UNIQUELY-born -- not born as humans are, ties back to Isaiah 7:14's LXX (which can ONLY mean 'virgin'). See also Hebrews 10:5, the words He spoke AT BIRTH.
Hmm, thanks for this insight, I did not know that. It is those small things that help. And I appreciate that you rely on the Greek Text, and the LXX. You are absolutely right on Isaiah 7:14, and it does contrast from Masoretic.
Yeah, BurnAll -- I made the distinction because you know the argument from the BHS that "almah" (w/ayin) can mean any young woman, virgin or no. So when the JEWS who translated that Hebrew used parthenos, well -- now it can't be doubted, what "almah" means. :)
I read your profile, and now it all makes sense. I appreciated your responses, and it is good to talk with people THAT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT!!! I've occupied most of time reading, studiying, and researching, these things, and I did not realize until I read your profile that you are more learned than I am on this. Thanks for your insights.
Also not to mention that the Koran is like a law-book that needs updates, if it is the divine truth, it needs to be eternal, UNCHANGING with no Contradictions, and it SHOULD always remain in harmony with Science, which the Koran fails to do.
I'm still wondering why this loutish *allah* couldn't even perform one teensy miracle to heal his sole, self-proclaimed messenger's illiteracy. Allah is mean-spirited, sexually obsessed, vengeful, dishonest, forgetful, wishy-washy, non committal, homicidal, ritualistic, shallow, misogynistic, and all the things that Mohammad was. Mo created *allah* in his own image, and it's all ugly, and ignorant, and anti-Christ.
Do you sometimes feel embarrassed for the Mohammadans, surrendering themselves to such stupidity? I swear I can feel my cheeks getting red when I read some of the fables that Mo tried passing off as "inspired". They are so patently ludicrous, when I see a muslimah out shopping, I can barely resist the impulse to run to her, shake her by her shoulders, and ask her why she is in such a gutter cult as islam. I do sing a measure or three of "Jesus Loves Me" as I pass by, though. ;-)
I'm heartbroken, islamsins. Like the comments you and I traded in your "Gospel?? of Barnabas??" video. It's patent that the Qu'ran is written EXACTLY in the same style as all Apochrypha, which were the Mad Magazine satires on the Gospel in the first+ centuries AD. So too, the Jewish apochrypha (excepting maybe parts of 1 & 2 Maccabees). Same lurid reversal on Bible statements, people & numbers, same fixation on sex. But above all, on twisting Bible. Has to be demonic. But no one notices?
I remember early in my Christian walk, reading about Chas Taze Russell, and how he feared and hated the idea of hell. So, he created a cult that teaches soul-sleeping. Ignoring truth doesn't change or eliminate it - would any sane person deny the law of gravity by stepping off a ten story ledge? Truth - as opposed to theory - is immutable. Tamper with it at your own risk, or in islam's case, at the risk of billions, muslims and non-muslims. :-(

Wow, islamsins. You state the case amazingly well. :)

Yeah, islamsins, if the soul sleeps then there'd be no need for salvation, in the first place. Well said.
