  • I'm too impatient and lazy for bike commuting x)

    I'd rather use a motorcycle.

  • @Charles2337

Me too but now I am forced to bike. No vehicle.

  • it's not cheap, but I recommend a Brompton if you are commuting. mine has a rear rack and bag that is made for the rear rack as well as a bag that fits onto the handlebars...i think i have about 40 liters of cargo capacity, and that doesn't even include a backpack. when you get to the office, you fold up the bike and put it under the desk. on your way home you can stop by the store and buy groceries

  • What would you reccomend as a commutung bike for a begginner something on the cheap side any ideas?

  • @kse6063 - I would recommend going to a couple different local bike shops and getting their opinions, then do some comparing -- there are so many options out there I don't think I could give you the best recommendations in this venue

  • @kse6063 get a $100 mountain bike and slab a 66 cc engine kit on it for $130 and u ge t 100 mpg and u move at 35 mph or more depending of gears heheh thats the way to do it

  • and she doesn't look bad in tights.

  • With that kind of ride, I wouldn't even go to work.

  • Very inspiring vidceo. Those of us that already ride know the truth of it all. Pitty we didn't have tidy safe roads here (Wales) I used to cycle 12 miles to work but now I am retired, I still ride most days.It has kept me fit and young.

  • Good on you

  • I love your mirrored glasses. I have mirror on my left handlebar. Does it work well and can it be attached to your wind goggles? I need an actual road bike. Right now I have a cruiser. Which is nice(see it on my channel) but, it's heavy! Living in foothills makes it seem to go very slow. Although my speed/odometer says I'm going 12. My old bike could go 55.

  • My mirror is completely detachable and I love it. It moves to just about any position I want, and it tilts up and down as well as sideways. The glasses I wear also have interchangeable lenses, so I can go from gray to amber to clear, depending on the conditions. They are Smith Moab 2's, which sadly are no longer made.

  • Dude this is awesome! I'm training to get fit enough to ride everywhere too. It's a lot more appealing than paying for a car and insurance and staying out of shape. :D

  • your the greatest!!!

  • You look really comfortable on your bike, it's perfect for you. And the route you take is lovely,

  • I keep coming back to this vid about this tim eof year, love to see the green and hear the birds in it! Soon its time to ride long rides and feeling the air in the face! Riding make u feel good and looking good!

  • beautiful video!

    you're an inspiration.

I started commuting a few months ago, for the same reason as you, but here in sunny California, i hardly have to deal with the trials of weather, just traffic and hostile drivers. But i love it.

Do you mind me asking what kind of gear you carry through your ride? It seems like quite a lot!

  • I really don't carry much in my pannier - just my wallet, lunch, clothes for the day....winter sweaters and extra rain gear can add to that. I also have a tool pouch attached to the top tube - it has a spare inner tube, patch kit, small first aid kit, tools. I have a high-powered light with detachable battery, a bell, and a pump also attached. It may seem like a lot, but all are really necessary if you want to be self-reliant. The bell is especially useful on the bike trail!

  • yea i hav a 1993 diamondback expert tg light n sturdy

    n did u win

    i hope u did

  • Yes, I did win - thanks for asking! I could have won a new bike, but since I'm happy with my Mongoose, I opted for the gear instead (new tires, panniers, etc).

  • what kind of bike do u have

    its nice

  • It's an old Mongoose Maneuver (circa 1995), but it does the trick. Heavy but sturdy.

  • what a lovely lady! God bless you! You have heart! I only have 14 miles daily, but your 20 miles is just legendary

  • Madison cummting is addictive!

  • How long have you been commuting to and from work? I just started cycling and I'm simply beat! I'd love to get where I can ride 20 miles/day, but I can barely do 3 now.

  • Believe me, I didn't start out at 20 miles a day! I've been bike commuting year-round for a few years now, and when I started, I took the bus part way and only a couple days a week. I slowly built up to being able to ride the whole commute every day. I also remember when 10 miles was a huge accomplishment! Hang in there and just build it slowly - you'll get there!

  • That's quite a rig and it looks like a lovely ride.

What tires do you use during each season?

  • I have Nokian Mount'n Ground studded tires for winter and Armadillo 26x1.50 for the rest of the year. Love the Nokian's - don't think I could bike in winter without them. I started with just one in front and then decided it was worth the expense to have two! They're actually most effective in spring when there is more ice than snow....

  • Awesome video! Did you win? :D

What's the name of that neat jazzy piano tune?

  • Yes, I won - thanks for asking! All of the music was from the iMovie library...not sure what it was, but I liked it too...

  • i agree all the way. tho there is a total smug alert!! lol

  • Great Video...I love biking myself..I go all over on my bike..looking to upgrade to a touring bike.......Best Wishes to youu......GET RIDE OF GAS AND RIDE A BIKE...Peace to all

  • sigh... this was very enjoyable to watch :) thank you!

  • Nice commuter rig. Keep it up!

  • i need to lose some weight and get into shape before i can start riding a bike again, UGHHH!!!!

  • Oh, your putting the cart in front of the horse! Get a bicycle, start riding short easy rides, and increase as you can. It will be like a new life.

  • Yeah! This is great! I used to commute by bike before my son was born. Now that he is 11 I have no excuse. :) Thanks for the great video.

  • I like it. Theres nothing like the change of seasons to bring a smile to a bikers face. Here in Oz, summer is coming, exams are finishing, and theres nothing better than doodling along on your bike.

  • Not to mention you look like you're in good physical condition from biking everywhere. Good riding to you!

  • Excellant stuff!

  • I'm a bike commuter as well. However if I was not, your video would certainly inspire me to do so. Good job!

  • love your video! love the bike

  • nice video! this is martin w. next door. congratulations on the award!

  • Thanks for riding to work! Cool video!
