Many young Brits vilify America as racist and backwater, but that's largely due to the fact that America is 13% black, Britain, 2%; and America is 10% Asian, Britain 4%. Obviously Black America has a much worse past than Black Britain, but both of our Asian populations come from oppressed Chinese and Indians. We all have blood on our hands. Let's keep trying to wash it off, and in the interim enjoy the life of the greatest musician of the 20th c.
Ciao. I'm italian and I live in Spain. I think in this moment Italy is the most racist country in Europe, and I'm terribly ashamed fot that. There's a lot of ignorance and people says black/asian=immigrant=problems. We forget that we were the immigrants and countries like usa, germany or argentina received us in xix century. but maybe at that time, before the 80's, people was different, there was not immigration in italy. Uk situation is different, a huge meltin' pot there, like in the usa
@jacksok2 Don't believe that Europe is prejudice free - there are plenty of racist people in France, Spain, Ireland - even Britain. Perhaps things are not so obvious at first but it does exist.
@DrMerkwuerdichliebe I have to disagree with you here. Ireland is terribly racist and Spain perhaps more so. Britain has its problems but it is the only country in Eurpoe where black, white, asian people live side by side and generally get along with one another. In other countries where there is a mixed pot of cultures the far right are more prolific - I include France, Holland etc. Countries like Sweden, Norway claim not to have any racism but they are largely white - so not really proven
