He runs into a parade, a group of nuns...he is thwarted at every turn before he utters that line (and yeah I'd say fuck the ducks but he's a goodie-goodie)

'The Flying Graysons' his parents were killed by a gangster who cut their wiring, Bruce Wayne (Batman) was in the audience and adopted Dick as his ward. (He had lost his parents to a criminal as well) and Dick Grayson became Robin The Boy Wonder, and started off the whole trend of superhero kid sidekicks.

I'm not sure about this version but a lot of them indicate that Robin is an orphan, even so there is a little bit of a father / son bond as well.
