  • congratz on the succesful hatch. hope alls well!!

  • i miss that little squeaking sound i used to hear when i was walking home from school, or waking up in the morning :(

  • Haha so cute, after the baby finally got out of the egg, it's like he/she was taking a breather saying "WHEW"

  • So amazing and wonderful a birdie breaking out of an egg! It is just as beautiful birth from mammals!

  • how long did it take for the egg to hatch

  • most cases my birds will take them back and then unite the family, but if not, you can raise it as your own. the baby will grown a special bond and see you as the parent. i still have one cockatiel (she is a female) i call her baby chicken. she is amolst two now and she still callout to m e and beggs for food. love birds. they have so much personality. congrats to lovemybirds.

  • i have a special box with heating pads (to warm up the nest.. then i begin the process of feeding them special baby bird food. sometime after two weeks u notice growth of baby, you can to try reunite to reunite them with mom and dad.

  • again, never take a shell off, only help it a tiny bit if you feel it is in distress/trouble.

and place it back in the nast along with one of the parent. the parent wil know whay to do. i had two babies die becaus they did not make it out on time. so now i keep a close eye on them. when the hachting process begins.

also check for the runts (the last babies can be pushed away by the older siblings, and they can die of starvation)

  • but remove the entire shell. after to take one or two tiny holes place it back it the nest and place mommy or daddy in the box. they will monitor the baby. i have 15 years experience with birds, the vet showed me me how to assist a baby cockatiel. the process is very delicate and should be handled with care. you must wash your hads befor touching any egg. as the impurities of the hands can be transferred through the pores of the eggs.

  • you will kill it. so you might as well flush it down the toilet. never assisy a baby, unless you absulotely need to. for example, it takes a good half hour for them to start the hatching process, if you noticee the mommy or daddy not assisting, you can just check for any holes, then perhaop assist the baby with one or two tiny holes to make it easier and speed up the process.

  • you never remove the shell from a newborn hatchling. it is nature's process from them to do it themselves. that is why the have a baby tooth on top of the baby beek. ususally the parents will know what to do if a hatchlin baby is having trouble. if you ever remove the shell in order to help the baby,

  • @lovemybirdies

QUESTION 1: what would have happened if you helped the little guy out of the shell? like carefully removing the shell from its body? thankyou.

QUESTION 2: how long does it take for the eggs to hatch?

    THANKYOU X

  • OMG my cockatiel layed 12!!! eggs already.3 broke so now theirs only 8. the eggs keep breaking and the bird keeps LAYING!!!!

  • Lol it today is exactly his first birthday

  • soo cute! i love its little pink baldness :)

  • They are so ugly when they are born, but they turn in to such beautiful birds, kinda like the opposite of chickens. lol

  • so THATS where chicken come from!

  • Aw so cute. I would give something away to be able to have seen my little dum-dum cocatiel come out of its egg. I never loved any other animal more then my bird here. He's sitting on my shoulder attentively watching the video... I'm sure he recognizes the chirps. lol. And tdizzle10... I think the narration was nice. Very nice voice. Love the video.

  • it would be better if you werent narrating the whole time

  • wow the baby is so cool my cockatiel just lay about 4 eggs and it been like 2 or 3 weeks and i cant wait for the egg to hatch and thnkz for filming it ^-^

  • This baby is almost fully fledged now and I will videotape him soon. Good luck on your eggs hatching! Please show us what yours are like. :-)

  • @lovemybirdies how did u hand feed this little chick?

  • dam shudnt the baby be with its mother wen its just born?or is that only for mammals

  • gosh this is recent. How is the little fella now? I have a cockatiel but he's a big boy now... it's funny to think that they all start like this. Very cute 5/5 thanks for sharing

  • Thank you so much for your kind words and rating. The little fellow is doing well. I started hand-feeding him on Saturday, July 11. It's very interesting how he didn't exhibit any fear or struggle like all other babies who were first pulled out a nestbox. He was trusting and comfortable as if he had always been hand-fed. I wondered if it had anything to do with hearing my voice upon hatching. :-) Just now he watched this film for the first time July 14 and was captivated by it the entire time!

  • Thank you Crem2057 for your kind comment. I have been checking every day and the baby is doing fine. None of the other 4 eggs hatched, so he is the only one with his parents' undivided attention. I will probably start hand-feeding him when he is 3 weeks old so he will be very tame. This is the first time I video taped anything. Thank you very much for your kind comment. I am very grateful. :-)

  • Aww congrats for catching it on film, I keep wishing mine will hatch on cue, but oh well. :) How're they doing now?
