  • im kinda surpised the oliver held its own. its only about half the hp of the 5020 and weighs less. you want a real challenge hook up to a allis chalmers d-21

  • aw come on man

  • q pinta la chabala hay

  • @miguel66211 i dont know what you said but hay how are ya.

  • @onelonleyfarmer ur funny

  • Any update on the Oliver? A JD R can't pull an Oliver 770, so I doubt it would out pull a 1755....

  • get a red tractor will pull both of em side ways! IH!

  • @Bowtiesare4lilboys u got that right

  • @Bowtiesare4lilboys you wish

  • When both tractors are spinning it's wheels then what it comes down to is weight and thread. The tractor with the most grip is winning no matter the Horsepower.

  • That's good on shit

  • how much does that precious oliver weigh? i bet my old R jd with 50 non-turbo hp's would drag it around. it weighs 9300#.

  • @jd1950r i think you are right it weighs about that.

  • @jd1950r wouldn'tdoubt it a bit a R john deere is a horse

  • @jd1950r ha my oliver super 99 has out pulled numerouse R's

  • thanks

  • 1755 has alot less horse then a john deere 5020 is bigger in horse power then a 4450

  • @darkninetailedfox about the same horsepower as the 4450 but no turbo on the 5020

  • @onelonelyfarmer did it rain likethe day before looks muddy

  • @colts101man i think it did its been a while so i dont remember

  • Only 1855 and above 55 series had turbos 1755 did great for just a 90 hp engine with no turbo

  • @colts101man it did good i had bald tires on the deere

  • John Deere is good equipment but man they are the ugliest tractors on earth.....Olivers from White Equipment had the look. Pit that John Deere up against a 1900 or 1950 with the 4-53 Detroit engine and see what happens.

  • @possumtail the olly is dead it needs head work swallowed a valve.the deere i run every day

  • @onelonleyfarmer Those Waukesha 310c.i. engines always gave us more trouble than just valves....we had a 1750 and an 1855 with this engine, along with an 1850 that had a Perkins 354c.i....why they didn't offer this engine in more models is beyond me. The 1855 was moth-balled over 25 years ago and hasn't been moved since. The 1750 has done a little better and is still a functioning tractor but it hasn't been as reliable as the 1850.

  • @possumtail if you want a 1755 i have one i dont like it.more trouble than its worth i got it on a hay trade i think i got the shitty end of the deal.

  • @onelonleyfarmer I sure thank you for the chance, but the only Oliver I'd be interested in buying would be an 1850 with a Perkins or a 1950 with the GM 4-53. Is it just the engine(Waukesha) you are having problems with or is the hydraulic system prolematic as well? I'm very curious.

  • @possumtail well if i could keep the thing running long enough i think it would have other problems bet so far i only have engine problems.

  • @onelonleyfarmer HA! you bet it will, but they all give problems after a while...some sooner than others, I guess. White Eq. Co. wasn't all bad; they had a bright R&D team and came up with tractor options and systems never before seen.....with new ideas come flaws and they tried correcting and refining and had success in doing so, but in the end it was a poor a marketing and management team that did them in along with those damn Waukesha 310s. good talking with you sir.

  • @possumtail I doubt the GM powered tractors will fair any better. #1 weight difference #2 The would repower a 5020 with a 6-71 or 8-53, twice the motor a 4-53 was #3 the 5020 was over built like the rest of the biggest of Deere machines thru the years (D,G,R, 70-720-730, 80-820-830, 5010, etc) they coulod handle lots of power and excessive use, not abuse. I'm not knocking Olivers or Detroits, just don't make that 1755 a space shuttle. Get a 2355 and you'll stand a chance.

  • @thegreenerthemeaner i have new tires on the 5020 it will rip the 1755 in half if i hook them up now.

  • @onelonleyfarmer I believe you already did that or was it not the two halves you wanted to make!! I'll give credit where it is due, he was able to move the 5020 with the brakes on...not bad considering the weight difference. Cost him though. Dyno test on the 5020?

  • @thegreenerthemeaner this 5020 is a hot one it was 118 at the drawbar but now it out pulls the 4450 and thats 140 so i think its a bit more than 140 we dont have a dino to test it on so it all guess work.

  • @onelonleyfarmer the 531 was indeed a monster and in the 6030/7520 form, my personal favorite of deere engines and the one to beat. The 466 was another but they have limits...ask anybody who turned an 8430/4840 too far. Never heard of a 531 coming apart when turned up within reason; usually about 50 to 70 Hp over the 175 was the best and they could run that way forever.

  • @thegreenerthemeaner I wasn't saying that a 4-53 powered White would beat this 5020; it is Whites closest match for that year of Deere....The 2255 with the Cat engine wasn't built until mid 70s. That 4-53 would bluff a lot of unknowing people though....those things were SCARY LOUD.

I don't know about being a space shuttle but the handsome design with new features like hydraulic assist, fender tanks, & cast tub frames made these Whites stand out from the others during that time period.

  • @possumtail I understand, your are going for era rather than a matchup power wise. There was an Ollie dealer a 1/4 mile from our house in the very early 70s and yes those Detroits would wake up everything, especially when they were dyno testing. I used to be pretty color specific but anymore if it's over 35 years old, I like em all.The good old days. Now it's bleep bleep bling....... color choice sometimes get you a differnet engine!!!

  • @thegreenerthemeaner HA!...I know what you mean. And I sure would've liked to have ran a 1950 with the 4-53 but since we operated a dairy/farm It wasn't to our benefit to have strictly field tractors, especially one with the Detroit's thirst for high RPMs.....No we went with the utility models for work in the hay fields but yet would still do an adequate job for plowing and discing in southern middle Tennessee. And back then Deere's were not popular there because of their price...Olivers or IH

  • @thegreenerthemeaner

    they didn make a 2355.....

  • @478bo dombass the 2255 weas the last tractor oliver every built

  • ha ha bolens

  • haha looks fun. Great videos you have mate. I spent all morning watching them. We use to own an Oliver 1650. It was before my times but it was my grandfathers main tractor before we changed over to deeres. The owners of it are just up the road from us so I wouldn't mind buying it back one day and restoring it. Greetings from Australia!

  • That was one of the coolest tug o war videos that Ive seen

  • @wagner59270 thank you. i like your videos to. they are really cool.

  • Some good clean fun!!!

  • Looks like fun.

  • that was good! haha! pritty good time there! haha. 55 man!
