@LuisC1495 drop a kick sample onto a clip. double click it and select "REV" button from the options at the bottom of the screen. that will reverse your sample

How do you drag instruments into Impulse? Ableton will not allow me to drag and drop any instruments from the instrument rack or drum rack. Do they have to be .wav or .aiff?

Hi, Can you drop a sampled sound in one of the drum machine slots? Like so it plays the sample like an Mpc?

Hi this may sound like a stupid question but when you select the impulse drum machine how do you then assign the kick, snare etc to it? Im just starting out so sorry if this is a stupid question. Thanks

@mlcsparky Drag and drop any drum samples from the browser or from a folder on your hard drive.

or you can drop in one of the presets form the impulse folder to load a kit

@SonicAcademy When I try and drag things in it doenst let me...I went to live browser, instruments, impulse, and i see wicked chill in, vintage funky groove, soft saturated through backbeat room. none of those go into the pads. And when I double click, it opens a pre-made set of 8 pads, but no sounds come from it. Same thing happens with Live Devices>Instruments>DrumRack>K­ick..none of them work. Where it usually says wav or whatever type of file, it says Live 8 Library...somethings off. help!

Switching from Reason to Ableton... I actually love the Reason interface, but one of my main gripes was the whole VST issue. Anyone use both Reason and Ableton? If so which do you prefer?

I've spent the last years developing my sense of melody much more so than rhythm so I've avoided drums. But I think I can start including them after these tutorials. on to the next clip. wish I had two monitors for these awesome lessons.

@SonicAcademy Does Ableton allow you to record your own lyrics over your track? im looking for a good Software to use. Im looking at Reason, Ableton, and FL studio...idk which is best for home recording...

@MBETZ91 Yeah ableton is actually very good for singing/Rapping over stuff because of the way it loops stuff easily.

defo avoid reason... it doesn't do it.

A combination of any of those programs and recording software like Reaper will allow you to record vocals, and will also increase the number of effects and the quality of equalisation/mixing in the end (I use Reason and Reaper for everything, when it comes to House/Ambient music).

@MBETZ91 Yeah every button and slider can be mapped to any midi controller. Really easy to set up compared to other software.
