Great fight! Class act. We know that Lewis could pound but, this also shows that Ali could bang as well! I understand that they were friends! God bless them both.
Great Job to Ali and to Al 'Blue' Lewis! Blue is my Pops and I enjoyed watching every minute of this fight. Keep both these boxers in your prayers during there Senior years. I am soooooo proud to have a father like Blue, Luv u Pops =)
Good fight, fine performance again from Ali. Today's top heavyweights would probably do well to go the distance with the very worst of Ali's opponents in the seventies, the likes of Evangelista, Coopman and Dunn.
@finetubs Thanks. Inadvertently you've given me an appropriate nickname for the Kazak brothers; The Clits. The one I rate is the older, and didn't he lose a fight against a very average American when well ahead on points because his poor shoulder hurt? David Haye is hardly a ring terror, but even with a foot injury and crap tactics didn't he go the distance with the other one? Sorry but compared with even a bucket carrier from the Golden Era, your Clit bros are crap.
I finally saw the end of this fight! I always wanted to see Lewis carrying Ali after the fight, I thought it was only a myth or something. The story is that Ali started to challenge basically every heavyweight contender from top to bottom in a campaign to regain the HW title. And when he defeated Lewis here, Lewis was so impressed by Ali's ability that he carried Ali because he was so in awe of Ali. Ali also wanted to pee so bad so he came out strong in the 11th....
jeez what a crummy fight.."the greatest"once again in with a guy any decent(hard punching )fighter woudda polished off in a second..and check out that stoppage based on?why the ref stop it??wtf, lewis wasnt in trouble ..absolute shite
@finetubs What was Lewis going to do?... Ali had him outpointed like you wouldn't believe... And I highly doubt Lewis would of KO'd Ali.. No way.. Lewis had been hit by so many right hands at that point.
That guy just has a dislike of Ali. It is clear to people who know and understand boxing and what they're watching that Ali carried Lewis and didn't want to seriously hurt him. The only time Ali opened up on him was when Lewis tried to stage a rally.
awesome how he shows respect to the greatest at the end of the fight

Ali let this guy go, ali practically KO'd lewis in round 5 but the referee gave him a long count and was wobbly and shaky after that, ali let him go.
