Actually, the Earth can (AND HAS) supported far more and larger lifeforms in the past. 6 foot centipedes, 3 foot dragonflies, 60 foot snakes and crocodiles. Giant sloths, bears, wolves, elephants, rhinos, apes, flowers, trees, fish. Haast's Eagle could(and did) kill and eat a grown man. Aepyornis, 12 ft tall bird. The Earth is still recovering from the extinctions of the last Ice Age and periods of heavy volcanism. Nothing to do with our cars being a 4-6-or 8-cylinder.
