Review: OnLive Console

For me, this is going to be big in the future.

Right now you see games specifically for the xbox or ps3, pretty soon, onlive with have the same thing along with keeping track of the modern games.

what i mean by this, is that all games, when a new one is released, it will hopefully be on onlive. I want to believe that onlive will be as big as xbox, and i think it eventually will. i have it on pc, and am looking forward to buying the console soon.

i use wifi for onlive and it actually is real good, it just that you would expect onlive to run games at max settings but they dont. I played 2k12 on onlive and it looked like shit, just a waste of money

@Michaelokupejr have you considered that the reson for that is becuse you are using an wifi conection?

if the conection is slower you will get worst quality.

@dsasuke not rly cause i did it with ethernet and it was still the same onlive doesnt run games at max settings. my network speed is 30mbps for both download and upload speed.

I'd rather have my games physically or on my hard disk than to rely on an internet connection which can stop at any moment. (my choice though)

@allangba7 Agreed. Plus, you can't play these games when your Internet goes out or your connection speed drops down due to peak hours. With a Physical Media and/or Hard Drive Installation, you don't have to rely on a Internet connection to play (with the exception of Online games) and less lag time.

@MrMaRyMaS Well, pc's a considered required to have wi-fi on board (no matter how cheap it is). No normal person uses wired connection. So they can't stop the people on the pc from not using their wi-fi. Now they can control it on their own console

Probably the best onlive review I've seen, great job Austin! I like the onlive but my router's in my closet so I can't really use it, Either way I think cloud gaming could be something huge in the future.

@spy4561 Yes, the Onlive software is great on PC and Mac, but $100 for a console that has issues streaming the game, and has no wifi seems kinda dumb, and then you have the Xbox, great games, graphics, online, entertainment, and no issues streaming.

@TheRottonapple Because the Xbox doesn't stream. Xbox also didn't have a Wifi capabiltiy at launch ether. Onlive also has better abilities to what Xbox can provide. $100 or $300 which is the better value. Thats choice of the other people not you to flat out tell pepole that its a waste when you haven't tried it with your conection yourself.
