@pr2person can you still see the scratch? you have to do it until you lake off enough layers of the disc to where the scratch is gone, this won't fix heat damage btw

I think this seems more like a temporary fix, I had to try it a few times for my Top Spin 4 game to start working slightly better before getting the same freezes. The best thing to do if you want to permanently repair is to install the game onto the hard drive straight after doing the toothpaste thing, as it seemed to bypass the coding past the point where it wouldn't install. I can now play my favourite game again, cheers!

word to the wise dont use colgate with baking soda i had one scratch and i used that and now the whole disk is scratched to shit...but atleast my game goes to the main mw2 thing...

unless you have the slim xbox 360, download all your games on the xbox and when that's full,buy a hard drive and hook it up to your xbox so even if your disk is fucked up like completely, unless it's broken in like a million pieces, you can still play the game

All the good games I have ( resident evil 4, metal gear solid 2/3,etc.) I got from my uncle.... They are all super skippy but normally work during gameplay. Re4 froze and I've tried all the tricks and might be forced to bring it to gamestop... The only problem is my mom won't let me play re4 so I have to do it when nobody is around....help meeeee!!!!!!

@dbkp28 I think if the disc is cracked you'd need to buy a new one. You can try this method but all this does if buff out scratches, not glue cracks.

@MrApprentice115 No rinse the toothpaste off with warm water and then let the disc dry. I don't know because I've not had chance to test all types of scratches, but the Halo 3 disc I did it on wasn't scratched/burned by the xbox.

And just enough to cover the disc, as it slowly fades add a little more if necessary.

By the time you've finished the scratch should be hardly visible with the disc being covered in tiny little scratches that can only be seen at an angle.
