this one helped me, I was searching for a proper installation guide and could not find one, until i stumbled upon this. i just realized that I wasn't extracting the archive completely :P
ty very much for the tutorial. it took me like 4 times longer to install but thats probably because im running linux on virtual box and only gave it like 500mb of ram xD
Do you also know how to uninstall the 3.0 version? I know I have to find the directory where I did the 'make install clean' command and there I know I have to use the 'make uninstall' command.
But I don't know where that folder is, the 'locate' command isn't useful either, Google hasn't been helpful either :-(
do you know what folder is python installed in ubuntu? cause i'm trying to get it on my applications drop down rather than the terminal, but i cna't find it
"Configure, make and make install" is only available for .tgz files?
