Injuries aren't the only type of abuse, every calf, steer, and bucking stock is terrified, that's abuse whether you physically injure them or not. @SHARKonlineorg thanks for the reply! @scenceable They don't go to slaughter right away. Once the animal gets 'too big' for the limit of the events, or gets injured/killed, then it's off to slaughter. When we say release death reports, we mean from the rodeo event where the death happened.
@scenceable rodeo has helped build america. it is older than most of the people on youtube. 90% of the time these acidents dont happen. ive been to many rodeos and the calves,steers,horses are competely fine. i was in the pens with the owners of calves,steers, and horses they are fed well. so they can have energy and perform well too. these animals are taken care of pretty well. think about both sides next time.
I kind of have a question that I haven't really seen addressed in your videos. I read a lot of comments saying that the animals are treated like kings behind the scenes. I read these and think that the horses under saddle (outriders?) are likely treated very well but the calves, steers, wild horses, etc are not. I'd love to go behind the scenes and see the difference. Then again if I worked for the rodeo and truly thought it wasn't cruel I'd invite you back to see and record everything.

Roping and bucking stock are not treated like kings. They're herd animals and treated as nothing but products, game tools, that the contestants use to score points.

also, rodeos are connected to horse slaughter. their best tempered horses (the ones that arent "wild") and those that are too old or injured for use are sent to brutal slaughterhouses where theyre killed just because they cant or wont buck.

Rodeos are so cruel I never go to them. NO animal deserves to be there. When those calfs could be out in a field free to eat all the grass they want, they are there. And when those horses are being ridden by idiots that only care about money and enjoy watching animals die right before them, when they could be spending time with a life-long friend that rides them properly without pulling on their faces and abandoning them by jumping off in the ring. Rodeo/rodeo animals are exempted from many states' laws thereby allowing any and every abuse possible without accountability for the abusers, and that needs to end. Some tie down or calf ropers are clean but others use dirty tricks to make their job easyer. The only rodeo I have been to where there has been animal injuries is calf roping.

What 'training' do you think calves and steers get beside being sent running out of chutes to be roped, jerked down or tripped, without regard to injury to them? Stock contractors are little different from puppy millers. They continually overproduce to have animals ready to be put into abusive rodeos. Nothing time consuming or expensive about it.

Rodeos.. nothing but sanctioned cruelty. If you wanted to do it in a paddock with a few friends you'd be prosecuted, but push it as entertainment and sport and hey, you can torture as many animals as you can fit in a "show".
I'm in Australia and we have the same "cowgirl" types doing the same thing. The rodeos will eventually be outlawed and the cowgirls can then go and spend more time with their famililes or pick fights with each other to address their aggression!

@zsteve1 You're absolutely right. Here in the States rodeo is specifically exempted from animal cruelty laws, or they use the livestock exemption, which means the animals get no protection. Do the same to the animals outside the money generating arena and the actions are chargeable animal abuse. Money in the pocket and having a good ol' time is more important than the animals to these people.

What can I do to help stop these cruel, indefensible practices? How could anyone treat these animals in such a way or pay to watch and support these kinds of events? Some tie down or calf ropers are clean but others use dirty tricks to make their job easyer. The only rodeo I have been to where there has been animal injuries is calf roping.

What 'training' do you think calves and steers get beside being sent running out of chutes to be roped, jerked down or tripped, without regard to injury to them? Stock contractors are little different from puppy millers. They continually overproduce to have animals ready to be put into abusive rodeos. Nothing time consuming or expensive about it.

OMG this is NOT real rodeo at 1:13 the horse does not even stop. Horses are supposed to be highly trained in their area of competing. This is nothing more than a bunch of uneducated idiots running around with not a single lesson in how to represent their sport properly. I've been to a REAL rodeo before and all the competitors are professionals, their animals are expensive and Valued, they would never intentionally want a huge vet bill!!
